- HERE YOU WILL SEE, "A SPECIAL REQUEST VIDEO BY A SUBSCRIBER", OF THE FDNY USING ONLY PA300 SIRENS WHILE RESPONDING ON THE STREETS OF NEW YORK CITY.
On a quiet night, you can hear these sirens from blocks away. You may not see the truck itself, or the lights, but you will hear them. The wail of this thing in person, without any other cars or the horns covering the sound is actually bone chilling, as the sound tends to echo off of all the buildings, and the rumble of the bass is much more apparent. Great video but for anyone not from the city, it's a different animal in person.

Probably used to hear those a lot back with those generations of FDNY vehicles. Soon it'll be a miracle to hear them in the future.

I come back to this video every once and awhile, still my one of my favorites from you. The PA300 is easily one of my favorite sirens.

PA300 sirens are better for New York City Fire Department Trucks and I love that sirens on all New York City Fire Department Trucks because I grew up with those.

That was fun, reminded of being a kid in Queens, hearing the PA 300's on the old; all red; Mack towers and engines, the Seagrave single axle's rear mounts and American La France engines.

i prefer the Seagrave rigs myself,i cant stand the KME's or those POS Ferreras,Ladder 4 seemingly can never stay in service very long ever since they made that one switch to a Ferrera lol

You ever hear of ST0107? ST0107 is ex-Ladder 9, whose original serial number was ST99006. Cab got burned beyond repair on 9/11, but it was replaced and the rig was back in service a few months later.

The PA300 is my favorite on battalions and all fire trucks as well as the Fed Q and EQ2B on the Spartans, Pierces and E-Ones. For ambulances, the Whelen and Carson are my fav.

Ever since I retired off the TruckCo. & even during the change over in the late '80's early '90's ... too this day, nothing gets your attention better than the "Q", I hold the footpedal down & blast the air horn. Even turn on the Whelen Siren.
"I didn't know what I was supposed to do, I just stayed where I was.
You didn't hear the sirens & airhorn behind you while seeing all my lights flashing?
I did, but I didn't want to get in trouble so I turned my radio up much louder & put my car in park & called 911 because I didn't think you had the right to do this"
Most outrageous thing I ever heard, I made sure he got tickets for the 2 Engines behind me & my Battalion. Prob lost his lic.
And yes, best part of retirement is growing a beard and no longer needing a haircut.

Today’s generation of children will not understand that the firetrucks back then sounded like that. Those were the days.

Almost all of our trucks in Zagreb use the PA300 but they dont use the manual as much as the wail and yelp

Much better-sounding siren than the Whelen WS295 which is annoying as hell when you’re driving a vehicle equipped with one. They seem to be so common it’s like they’re giving them away.
The PA 300 is better but I think the PA 200 and the Federal Siracom was better still.

Division 3 was lost on 9/11 that's the replacement vehicle a 2001 Ford Excursion. Looks like High rise 2 is also a 9/11 replacement era. Maybe Engine 65 too. Squad 18 appears to be as well but not sure why the different color unit number. Just crazy to see the replacements still in service some 15 years after that day.

The ambulances don’t have PA300’s although it may sound like it they use Federal Signal MS400 sirens. Nice vid though!
