I'm Jimmy, rode a Honda 150 Dream to High School in '64. Listened to The Shangri-Las over and over. I was Jimmy, Mary wanted me but her parents didn't. It was all so hormonal. I'm almost 80 now and still feel it when I hear her sing to me. One night coming out of the drive-in, barely up to cruising speed, a yellow Cutlass came at us rounding the curve, swerving and crossing the dividing line at a high rate of speed, no time to react, it hit us head-on. I remember the sound and then nothing...came to, my knee had broken the radio on the dashboard but her head was split open and bleeding. Her head had hit the rear-view mirror on my Dad's Electra 225. I held it together, blood spurting on my T shirt. They pulled me out and I stumbled to the other car. Both the driver and his passenger hit the windshield face-first and their blood and tissue was still stuck hanging and oozing, embedded in the cracked glass. I thought they were dead but I pummeled them anyway, hoping to finish them off, swearing F Bombs. I'm still Jimmy and I was pissed.
