Fun fact. It is actually impossible to get 1000 points in every minigame. Some minigames’ requirements are so high that the community has not found a way to get that many points in nearly 18 years of this game being out. And one of the dancing minigames is straight up glitched to never give you a perfect score even if you hit every single rabbid note. Not to mention the countless minigames that have some element of or completely rely on rng that often times is not in your favour in order to get scores. I believe one of the last challenges even has a super rng heavy game in it, thankfully that challenge is basically impossible to unlock in the first place.
13:50 OH MY GOD YES!! Ok I liked you when you said people should let go with the whole "Rabbids killed Rayman" thing but you 100% earned my respect for saying how you disliked the new "cute" Rabbids because oh my god I really dislike how Ubisoft has been trying to change the Rabbids into friendly wacky creatures instead of creatures of destruction. Like making their appearances cute is fine as the Rabbids are sometimes described as cute in a few games and in the show but making their personalities less destructive ruins the appeal. The cuteness should contrast with the Rabbids personality NOT become personality. FOR GODS SAKE THE RED EYES ARE NON EXISTENT NOW!!
The original vision for the rabbids was to be the cute. Though like u said, the problem is it was meant to contrast with them being crazy and evil. The way I see it (at least for the original RRR concept) is that they're cute but they want to be feared. Ancel put it as the "what if the cutest thing you've ever seen, had a dark side?" Ironically I think they've made them a bit ugly overtime so even when they're evil its still thrown a bit of whack. The in-game RRR1 design is what I think sold it best.
True, RRR Party of Legends and everything during/after the show kind of ruined the rabbids original appearance. The ones from the early games and Go Home just don't exist anymore.
I really miss those red eyes 😔. The only time I remember them appearing semi-recently is in the show where one rabbid has a blue eye and a red eye but it doesn't amount to anything
Rabbids Go Home is one of my favorite games ever and one that I always have a guaranteed fun time with. The craziness of it and the various reactions of the humans to the rabbids terrorizing always gets me laughing. It's a game that almost always puts a smile on my face. I've loved it ever since I first played it and I still love it to this day. I agree as a Rayman fan who loved the Rabbids growing up and was typically quick to try and buy any new Rabbid game or merch (I still own four Rabbid plushies and a box of small Rabbid figures), Their craziness and destructiveness made for a really funny and entertaining contrast with their cute appearances and that (coupled with me generally liking rabbits and enjoying the Rayman Raving Rabbids games) was a big part of why I liked them so much as a kid. Apart from Mario + Rabbids, I haven't kept up with the Rabbids in a long time.
Hyperness continues to be based. I always thought RRR was a fine game. I enjoyed it as a kid and still do. (The sequels not so much though.) I'm also glad we didn't get the weird semi-realistic open world Rayman lol. Like you said, it's not 100% fair to dunk on a very early prototype, but still, the concept alone is just very uninteresting to me. Same goes for the original Phoenix Rayman 4 concept.
I'm kinda with you on the Rayman 4 prototype. I think a massive open world 3D Rayman platformer would be kinda boring which is why I hardly ever go back to games like Banjo Tooie, DK64, Yooka Laylee, Super Mario Odyssey, or Sonic Frontiers. If I were in charge to make a 3D Rayman platformer featuring The Rabbids. I would make it sort of linear just to be more in line Rayman 2 or 3 and keeping some series staples while also trying to put in new stuff without breaking the formula. But nonetheless I am still excited to see what Reburrowed has offer. Great review btw.
I think the original RRR is quite good for what it is. It's biggest mistake was screwing up the multiplayer. Though I think one important thing about this game's history is that its a lot more intertwined with the proto than you might aspect. All those locations you see in the final were meant for the original game for the most part. And lots of the more realistic elements were remnants from kong or were eventually intended to be changed into something more rayman-ish. (The spider has cartoonish concept art seen in one of the galleries of the final game.) Pretty much everything you see in the final game was just built from the scraps of what they wanted to make. As someone whos pretty deep into the history of this game, I can say that the party game is pretty representative of a lot things about what the adventure game could had been like. Even a lot of the minigames were originally intended for the adventure game. And the worlds left in that proto were simply way too early to truly represent what it could had been if completed. I think when it comes to imagining what the final game could had been its important to take both into consideration. Either way it would had been a very different rayman game, but I do have a lot of faith in its concepts. I think one thing that makes RRR feel so much more unique and special is how it shares its roots with that adventure concept. You got all these unique visuals and levels (graveyard, underground bunker, canyons, mines, etc) that feel like they belong in a platformer. They almost feel underutilized in a sense. But it makes RRR such a more memorable game. I think that's where all the sequels screw up. One was made with the distinct vision of an adventure game, the others were made to be party games. And understandably no one would put that much thought into the environments for a cheap party game. RRR1 was never meant to be a party game, it just didn't have enough time become anything more than that.
The visuals were always some of my favorite parts, most of the plunger games just have such good environments and atmosphere. The sequels were never able to capture the same feel but alot of the minigames were more polished and were better for multiple players, and its pretty fun to 100% RRR2 and RRR3.
Nice video as always, I'm really enjoying your rayman games reviews series. I really liked Raving Rabbids on PS2, even thought at first I played the entire story mode thinking the real game would have started after Rayman evasion. Thanks to you I finally played the original Rayman and the 2 game boy games (discovering the first one was made by Ubisoft Italy and Davide Soliani, now famous for the Mario+Rabbids series). Now I am playing Rayman 3 GBA and I'm really enjoying it, I hope you will play and review it soon!
13:31 I do like rayman though, but that’s because I like the edgy design & humor, I think it fits the mischievous dark fairytale core/principles of the series. It’s meant to be surreal, it’s meant to be absurd, & it’s meant to be fucking nuts! That & I find Rayman 2 to be aesthetically kinda boring. It’s all just the same green ass swamps & jungles over & over for the most part. I’m not saying Rayman 2 is bad, I just tend to lump everything together in my mind when thinking about it. The story is still great, & the gameplay is probably still fun, even if it’s the easiest game out of the mainline series.
I'm a Rayman Rush defender. I will admit it's just a stripped down version of Rayman Arena (Rayman M in my region) where there's only the racing part, but I enjoyed it more than Rayman Raving Rabbids. And I still think RRR is a nice game even though I wish it was more of a 3D platformer like its prototype. Also, I missed out on the handheld versions of RRR, but I purchased and played the Java mobile game on my old phone at the time
this game altered my brain chemicals as a kid having strict parents... i was for some reason allowed to play this before being allowed to watch spongebob. also the current views to likes ratio on this vid is really good, im glad other people enjoy this game nowadays
I actually have a lot of respect for your opinion. I always said that RRR was sad to have in comparison to have Rayman 4. And my point still stands, but I definitely agree that RRR on its own has some charm (but not the sequels, those are bad) I think with the technology we have today, Rayman 4 could be great

This game is still my biggest disappointment ever. I was a kid a the time, so I was kinda following the news about this game, but not much. I remember seeing the first few trailers and being really excited. A few months later, I found the GBA version and played it, I really liked it (in retrospect, it's a really mediocre game, it's really short, buggy and doesn't really use its gimmick particularly well) and it was essentially what I saw in trailers. Months later, I found the PS2 version in a bargain bin at Walmart (which wasn't uncommon at the time, basically every games ended up here after like 6 months if they weren't Nintendo games) and begged my parents to buy it for me. When we finally got home, I've spent the rest of the day on it... and kept wondering when the actual game would begin. It took me a few hours to realize that... that was the game, nothing more. The game itself isn't bad or anything, most minigames are fine enough and I like the Rabbids in that first installment, but I was expecting a follow-up to Rayman 3 (which was the first game I bought myself, but that's another story) like the GBA version, so just getting minigames over and over again was such a disappointment, I've never even tried any other games in the series. The prototype is more of a proof of concept than anything else, it's just a bunch of mechanics put together with recycled assets from Rayman 3 and King Kong to test what works and what doesn't. If they went ahead with it, they would've changed a lot, beginning with the realistic animals and textures, I'm sure the final version would've looked like a lot like the game we actually got design-wise. However, even in its broken state, you can already see interesting ideas and environments (rideable animals, grappling hooks, stealing Rabbids vehicles, massive boss fights, etc.), so if they went ahead, I'm sure the actual games would've been really good, you're being really hard by saying it would've suck based on a 15 minutess exploration of the maps (which don't even load correctly, people have made mods to restore them as they should be) and punching way too many rabbids with way too much health (when they were probably in the middle of testing things and hadn't spent any time on balancing). It's kinda like trying the SNES prototype of Rayman 1 and saying the final game sucks because it's boring, it's barely a demo to mess with ideas.

13:02 ENOUGH BROTHER WARS, WE HAVE BUT 1 ENEMY!
(it’s actually Ubisoft’s fault anywho lol.)
I did read that david did voice ray on this game uncredited, but i dont think that's true
I mean they sound close enough, also hi, nice to meet you again.

What do you think about the gba games
Atleast there´s the GBA Version.
Love the midweek vid drop 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Honestly I may give the game a go. Like you said if you look at it on its own it's a fine enough game, and I'd probably enjoy it quite a bit.
