Erin's was so a good child actress! Such a chemistry with Elizabeth. I really think that they must have something special ❤ You can see how they care for eachother 😍 (like an aunt and niece)
Sam turned the iron off. I remember my mom ironing our clothes using a similar iron. Hurray for permapress. In season eight, Sam used a steam iron when Darrin got her mad. Instead of leaving, she went invisible, ate her breakfast, arranged some flowers, and ironed. The episode was a rework of season one's episode HELP, HELP, DON'T SAVE ME. The episode is A GOOD TURN NEVER GOES UNPUNISHED. I like the differences. In both episodes, Sam stands up for herself, but feels a little guilty. But it we the change in TV where female leads had strong independent roles. I think Elizabeth Montgomery lead the way. I give you IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TO A DOG when Sam threw Darrin out of the room. One didn't see that in TV shows in the 50s and early 60s. Darrin could only go so far before he ran into Sam's independent and self confident nature. She'd live the way he wanted her to, but only until she felt he was trying to control her. Like I said in another post, don't ever use words like command or demand to Sam. 🙂 👍 I do wish the writers had written an episode where either Sam or Endora would've taken Tabitha and Adam to their realm. That would've been interesting. But, I will say this, our world is also Sam and her family's world, although, they didn't commingle.
Jane Connell portrayed four different characters in six episodes of Bewitched. In addition to Mother Goose, she played the roles of Hepzibah, Martha Washington, and Queen Victoria.
Oh my word - I was thinking 'hadn't I seen her before?' and recalled her as Queen Victoria and Martha Washington. Thanks so much for mentioning her other roles on Bewitched! It was not my vivid imagination after all!
@@saphirus1able To me, one of the fun things about watching a show I love as much as Bewitched, is making these connections. @@h193013 far worse. Endora did it out of (misguided) concern for her daughter's happiness. Phyllis did it out of selfishness and dramatic attention seeking. It was clear where Darrin got his horridly self-centered personality from.
Oh, it started with Physillis' hero worship of her son, which Darrin hated. Remember back to SAMANTHA MEETS THE FOLKS when he pretty much sided with Sam and his father. Phyllis had something of a snobbish attitude. Everything revolved around her son, the genius. Her attitude is similar to that of Endora, who thought that Sam had given up too much of her heritage, in order to mary a mortal, who she didn't like very much. Darrin's father, on the other hand, treated Sam and Endora with respect. But like Endora, Phyllis meddled or ran to Darrin's home when she's had a fight with Frank. An example of this is the episode this clip is from. I love the episode A NICE LITTLE DINNER PARTY. I love how Sam and Endora got his parents back together. What a way to hijack a passenger plane and train. 😀 I love when Sam asked her Mother if there'll be an air strip when they get to Angel Falls. Endora said, there will be. 🙂 Phyllis the hypochondriac.
You know, Esmeralda is said to have lost most of her powers due to her lack of confidence. But I say Esmeralda's probably the most powerful witch in the series. She once straighted the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which weighs 16,000 short tons. Who else in this series moved a structure that even approached that size?
I know. When the character of Esmeralda was first introduced Endora told Samantha that Esmeralda had lost most of her powers and what was left were involuntary and didn't last. Yet in the very next episode Esmeralda conjures up Julius Caesar when trying to make a caesar salad and only she can send him back if she can remember the spell.
Elizabeth Montgomery so beautiful and I bet she was a loving and caring a mom with her own kids as she was here as Sam Stevens, Tabitha and Adam's mom! :)
I think Elizabeth's adult children William and Rebecca and Robert would agree with you. There were two documentaries done on Elizabeth Montgomery in 1999. Both William and Robecca were interviewed and William said he was proud of his mother and Robecca said she missed her mother's voice. Those documentaries are here on TH-cam.
What a great episode. Wish it could have been a longer one. The director should have had Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha keep the iron up rather than lying it flat down after she finished ironing. She did turn it off though but it would have been hot.
l subscribed but i srill cant see a complete episode, its so frustrating, is there a way to see JUST Bewitched wiithout having to watch all these other series , free
After Marion Lorne died in 1968, it became Esmeralda who was responsible for conjuring up historical characters. The only exceptions were when Tabitha conjured up the Halloween characters, Jack (From Jack & the Beanstalk) and Hansel and Greek, as well as Uncle Arthur conjuring up Napoleon Bonaparte (that episode was going to feature Aunt Clara)
Except for one instance that I can think of, Darrin's mother always called Sam from close by, which didn't give Sam much time to finish whatever she was doing. The most extreme example is in the episode IS IT MAGIC OR IMAGINATION. Here Sam has the living room torn up cleaning. She puts a speed up spell on herself and gets stuff put back into place, just as Mr. Stufred Shirt comes downstairs and sees her and immediately gets upset, then he chickens out when he finds his mother's coming leaving Sam to deal with her. If it weren't for Sam's good nature, Phyllis might've been zapped. It'd serve her right. 😀
What's funny is Adam's timing. It got Sam out of having to answer Tabitha's question. 🙂 It also almost got Tabitha into trouble, because she thought that Adam was crying for no reason. 🙂
@@JohnClifford4567jwc she might well have been a Queen, but the only title she had in the dialogue of those episodes was High Priestess. Whether that means the same thing as Queen or not........your guess is as good as mine, lol.

That's what I always liked about Esmeralda, she had messed up magic, but her sneezes were so wonderfully dramatic.
Darrin's mom was the real meddlesome mother-in-law.
Even worse than Endora?

Just my opinion, but I always thought, and still do, that Samantha's mother-in law was worse than her mother.
Oh absolutely.
In "real" life..it's sooo rude to just go to someone's house without invitation or notice.

She was such a cool addition to the show after the unfortunate death of the woman who played Aunt Claira.

I like how Esmeralda was a replacement for Aunt Clara.
Gotta love this classic sneeze scene of Esmeralda. If anyone needs the time stamp it’s 3:27
That mother-in-law is rude. Samantha told her she was busy.
Darrin could write a books on rude mother-in-laws.
Mrs. Stephens was always very........pushy.
