    If you boil the whey down for several hours (up to 20-25% of its initial weight) and add sugar and butter, you can make caramel.
    Caramel is made from milk (or heavy cream)+sugar+butter. So replace milk/heavy cream with whey

      She talks too much! over half the video and she is talking about everything but the how to... I give up. I have wasted enough of my valuable time here! THUMBS DOWN! If I want to involve myself with someone who wants to do a lot of talking, I;ll call someone on the telephone!!! Good-Bye!

      @@homelessombudsm5785 I am looking for the "how to" person also, but you are mistaken when you say she talks to much! You clearly haven't watched very many videos, lol! She does not babble like soo many others do.

      @@homelessombudsm5785 It's nice to be important, AND important to be nice. The video is "what to do with" not "how to." She has spent valuable time too sharing information for those who want to know, myself being one, and am grateful for what she shares.

    Pleasantly surprised about all the history and background all about whey! Kept my attention all the way and now I am more informed about the way to use whey and why 🤓🥛

    Can't find any clues in @Remarkikkin's video list, unfortunately! 🥴

    Finally the how to add whey to compost. But can acid whey be added to compost?
    I'm sure sweet whey can be added, but not sure if acid whey can be added.

    • @Remarkikkin
      @Remarkikkin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do add it, I'd make sure to dilute extra well and only add it to plants that really appreciate acidic soil. I would definitely not add it if you've pre-salted it like is often done with ricotta.

    So when you mentioned putting it into the crock pot for 12-24 hrs, which temperature do you use? High or low? I guess I will have to experiment because she doesn't seem to answer questions.

    • @Remarkikkin
      @Remarkikkin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Linda, I'd try experimenting based on your crockpot but low is where I'd start. Make sure you leave the lid off. Turn it up if it does't seem to be evaporating.

      I imagine the small amount a home cheesemaker might pour down the drain is a drop in the bucket compared to what a commercial cheesemaker might do. That said, its way more fun to find ways to use it!

    how to make powder..

    • @Remarkikkin
      @Remarkikkin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Powder is made commercially by misting the liquid whey into the air with a bunch of big blowers that dry the product. It's not something you would generally spend the energy doing at small scale.
