- In todays video we check out the sound differences that the AAM Competition High Flows Cats make on the Nissan 370Z Nismo edition compared to stock,
This is my 2016 Nissan 370Z Nismo Edition. First clips only have the AAM Resonated Short Tails, while the second clips have the addition of the HFC. AAM Cold Air Intake is also in the second clip, but that doesn't make a sound difference.
The high flow cats also add about 10 wheel horsepower to the 370z! These made the 370Z slightly louder then I would really want, but for the most part they sounded amazing!

I have the typhoon intake and magnaflow muffler. I already have the deep tone with some pops and cant wait to hear my muffler with those cats.

Firstly, I've come back to this video several times for inspiration and I finally got the resonated short-tails on my 2020 NISMO Z and it's been fantastic so far! I've been trying to find reasons to go out and drive before the bad weather hits us. Seeing as how you had the HFCs on here, I did notice you said below somewhere that the noise was a little too loud for your liking. However, I noticed that AAM has RESONATED HFCs, and I was wondering if you had any idea what that would sound like?
So far, I'm running stock cats and there's still a bit of drone, but was wondering if resonated HFCs over the non-resonated ones would help with a bit of the drone. Otherwise, I am in love with my current mod so far!

I bet the resonated HFC would be nearly stock sounding. I didn't like the HFC because they were a bit too loud. Sold the car 1000 miles later anyways lol/ But you should be in good shape with that! But most likely you will need a tune. The Z is picky on the check engine light with HFC

VQ series with exhaust actually sounds pretty good. Ford GT and Indycars (both have V6s) are probably the only other V6s that sound good.

Sounds great!! Pretty similar sound to my Z, but definitely yours is deeper sounding I have to say. Can't wait to put the stock cats on and compare them to see if it was worth it.

@@sharpemang they do have pretty bad road noise when the road isn't super-smooth but I've learnt to just turn the stereo up

Do you think there resonated hfc cats would of helped with the tone and loudness. I a currently have q70s with the 3.7. I have z1 y pipe and a stillen cat back. Been watching all your videos, and I think I will be ordering their cai and cats. I really want to keep as close as possible to what it is right now. Any input helps. Thanks in advance.
Yeah if I did it again I'd go resonated. Probably just do resonated test pipes since most likely you'll need a tune anyways. I had a CEL come on 1k miles later for cat efficiency. So plan on tuning the car if you change the factory cats

Awhile ago my nismo had berk HFC with regular short tails. Once I added the aam mid pipe it was dumb loud.

I currently have the aam intake and resonated short tails installed on my Nismo. I'm thinking of getting the aam HFC and a tune. My question to everyone is... Has anyone had their HFC blow out easily??? That's what I hear about HFC. that you'll have to replacing them and retune. Can you guys please share experiences?
I only had these on for 1000 miles then I sold the car. So I don't really know long term. But if you're going to tune it. Just go catless with resonators

Sounds amazing, I couldn't live with it as a daily, but as long as you're having fun who cares right? I went the other direction: full sound system with sound deadening. The way I see it: It's just never going to be a Porsche Cayman S. So may as well make it more comfortable and enjoyable for road trips
Do you get a metallic sound for the cats on cold start up? I got it ever since i put high flow cats on mine, but it goes away once warmed up

Was the resonator still on the car at this point ? I have resonated short tails and a resonator delete and it's pretty loud. I'm worried that fitting the hfc will be too loud. I want the gains though 🤣
This was the resonated short tails, stock Nismo midpipe and HFC. Honestly this was a bit too loud for my taste. The tails alone were perfect
Did the check engine light go on? i just installed mine aam hfc and mine went on after a few miles.
With the HFC does it have a bad gasoline smell when driving??

Intakes for sure! HFC also added about 10 HP. So all in all my car is like 25 WHP over the stock car with no tuning. We dyno'd it and I was impressed

How bad is the interior drone and noise once you added the high flow cats? Looking to toss some in but I’m worried the additional sound makes it less than daily-able.

Most likely. I had a CEL come up after 1000 miles. Seems like maybe half of the Z's with them end up throwing a code. So I'd plan on tuning after these

A bit too much to be honest. This was too loud for my taste. I should have just left the resonated short tails. That was the perfect setup

great and good looking car dude,i am just trying to figure how u figured 30whp gain....was is 290 stock? 350 - 15% should be about 298........just asking..
Vincent Kecer my 2 last Z videos, I had the car on the dyno. This setup I'm at 321whp and 260wtq. SOHO Motorsports showed me dyno graphs of bone stock Nismo editions. They were around 290whp and 240wtq.
oh...i see...i probably overlooked this fact in your previous videos, that they showed u a stock dyno sheet. Good job then....that's a sweet gain. Now headers, modified intake manifold, tune and you'll be at 400 crank....
Question if I add hi flow cats to my Z it has a catback on it already how loud will it be?
It will be a bump up in sound. With the short tails it was a bit too loud for me. But a cutback system with mufflers should be good
@@BrosFOURRSpeed what hi flow cats would you recommend? I've only had the car since last August. He said it was a "Custom" Catback Exhaust on it I don't know the exact brand name but it sounds perfect in the cabin I love the in cabin sound I just want it to be a little louder with the same tone.

How are fast intentions high flow cats? I want to pair them with their Fast Intentions Cat back. They have resonated and non resonated for both the HFC and the CBE what should I get non resonated or resonated?
Did you get them? I'm looking at the resonated ones because I don't want too much noise. They're pricey though

I was about to get Top Speed nonresonated test pipes which don't have a cat (but are loud) but I'm not sure if my car would pass inspection - I'm near Schertz TX so I dunno what is allowed. I could probably get away with straight test pipes but ... I dunno it's a gamble

I much prefer the sound before the high flow cats were installed, big difference! The sound is so much more refined, versus with the high flow cats it sounds very raspy and tinny
Yeah the HFC made it a bit too loud for my taste honestly. Ended up selling the car anyways a month later for a GTR lol

Dropful I have an 09 Nismo with this exact same setup. It will fit and it’s a lot louder than the video really shows. Sounds great though. Just prepare for some “get off my lawn” stares from the boomers you pass.

Dropful It sounds fantastic. It’s just cold starts are pretty loud. Nope. Not one issue. Figment and install is perfect. The short tails may have a spacing issue with the rear bumper. Ie it touches the plastic. So you may need a few washers to push the exhaust off of the plastic to get the spacing right. You can find all the info on the 370z forums. I did my exhaust without a lift either. It’s that easy. HFCs are another thing. I had them professionally done because you do need a lift or at the very least, jack stands.

Honestly the HFC were too loud for my taste. There was some drone for the day to day drive. Just the resonated short tails was the perfect setup!

TPMS flashing. New wheels don't have sensors, so the light flashes for like 30 seconds after startup

I hear you, love your ride. in 1996, my dream car was a 1993 Turbo Z. Then MSRP was about $45K ($72K today w/ inflation), not possible for a high-school kid. Ended up buying a 1989 240sx for $5K,...if I knew how popular they would be today, I would of held on to it. Anyway today you can p/u a Nismo 370 for $35K before negotiating...not a bad deal. Nissan's dropped the price significantly over the past 4 years, due to lower sales. If I didn't need 4 doors, I'd have a my Z instead of the Maxima Platinum (also a great ride). Great videos, keep it up.

Cameras never covey sound like in real life. it sounded great from the outside. But it was too loud on the inside. These were 'sport cats'. That's what a High Flow Cat is. I never had any smell from this. Even now with my GTR and Supra being catless, they don't even smell
