Video is extremely valuable in 2023! Thanks so much. Came from a MODX with scene switches and was lost without them. This does almost exactly the same thing. Thank you thank you!
Glad you like it! If you're interested, I followed this up with another example of KARMA Scene Switching, here: th-cam.com/video/hx0OUOgihAs/w-d-xo.html
tks a lot.... after looking by the web i haven't seen such a nice tutorial. please help me combining activating sounds and at the same time the karma patterns. this a lot
This is my 2005 OASYS that you are looking at, which is why it looks so colorful and lit up. I also have the Kronos X, from 2012. This process will work on all Kronos models.
@@scoopicman very good gonna go back through your video and try this out. I’ve had my Kronos for 3 years now and still so much stuff I have not learned, amazing machine!
Hi, Hope you can help. We are doing Hungry Like the wolf, I have split the keyboard so the phased strings are on at the middle C and above and the randomised sequence below middle C but when I switch the Karma on it plays the Karma sequence all the instruments when I only want it on channel one? I would be very grateful for any help.
Without knowing the specific combi, I'm going to give you 3 answers. 1) Press on the bottom row KARMA tab - GE Setup/keyzones page. Uncheck the RUN box on the B,C, and D modules. If RUN is grayed out, then you'll need to go to the Perf RTP page, and uncheck the RUN boxes for B,C,D. Go back to the previous page and deselect the RUN boxes for B,C,D. 2) You could find the sounds that B,C,D are playing, and either MUTE them or turn their volumes down. 3) You could go to the Timbre Parameter - MIDI page and change the channels of the sounds being played. Most likely it will be programs on channel 2, 3, 4.
Hi, this is pretty much similar to Karma in Kronos. But in Kronos sometimes the "Run" option in "GE Setup / Key Zones" is grayed out and can't be changed. Do you know why it happens? I have found other people with the same problem but not a solution. Thank you.
Greyed out means that the RUN is assigned. Go to the "Perf RTP" tab and under "Group," turn MIX (or whichever setting) to "Off." That will do it. You can put it back to MIX, again, and it won't be greyed out. You can now work with it.
OMG ...Respect! BUT, I'm not ready for this level of learning. I'm about 60 days into ownership of an 88 key Kronos LS & I've moved way beyond, "Uh-Oh, I bit off more than I can chew!" but this will be maybe for say, July? (if ever - LOL)
No worries. Some of my videos are advanced applications (such as FX Insert changes, during a song). I've had people ask me how to do "smooth sound transitions", and this was a way to do it on the OASYS, which didn't have Kronos' SST capability. But this trick certainly applies to the Kronos. Here is an even better version of the same subject, shown on the Kronos. th-cam.com/video/hx0OUOgihAs/w-d-xo.html It's a neat trick for live performance.
@@scoopicman Wow, very kind (& patient) of you to take time time to respond! I'll take a look. May I trouble you with a question if you have one more minute? Is it realistic of me to think I could sequence backing tracks to a fairly complex tune in 5/4, specifically an old classic by Jethro Tull called "Living In The Past?" I know all the changes, of course, played flute & sang it for years & would love to be able to "one-man-band" it effectively in time for a present for a birthday in 60 days. I'm not a stranger to the Kronos sequencer...but..5/4? And, I want to LIVE sequence it.
@@pyannaguy4361 You can use multiple time signatures, in the same song. Press the sequencer's REC/WRITE button (but not the START button). While it is flashing, look at the top of your screen and tap in the METER box. Select 5/4, then press sequencer START.
@@scoopicman Thanks a million! This old Jethro Tull classic song's gonna force me to learn lots about how to isolate & repeat long passages, create a User Drum pattern and get it into the Drum Track and lots more, but I guess if I don't quit, I'll at least learn some things. Thanks again! I'm subscribing!
@@scoopicman Darn, I'm a bother! But, it won't let me type in the 5/4. I do exactly as U say & the meter box activates & looks like it's giving me the option, but I can't type anything in. The Kronos LS sure is a patience builder! Thanks, scoopicman, if U get one more minute & a guess as to why I can't enter that number. (?)
I've had my kronos 3yrs, it's very complicated, I only use mine as a midi controller, omnisphere sounds much better than the kronos anyway. maybe if I was a gig musician the kronos would be useful, nice instrument but way too convoluted to get a grip on.
The Kronos is a COMPLETE MIDI/Audio workstation. If you aren't going to use it as that, then I suggest you sell it to someone who needs a real workstation, because you obviously don't. Or, just give it to some talented, but $$ poor kid... I guarantee life would reward you for such a gesture. 😎
don't feel bad, I've had my m3 for a couple of years and still learning new things all the time. It's a weird old interface but the more I use it the more it makes a lot of sense why it was designed that way. The kronos is basically the same thing as an m3 with more shit

Nice. I've joined the KARMA people, finally.
Love it. Great example showing how flexible KARMA is
Oh..hey ..Wow.. Narf brought me here.
Same lol
great tipp - thanks a lot!
Thanks, that's really useful. Nice to hear Randy Newman getting into the keyboard video tutorial voiceover business.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
@theapex81 It was either on Korgforums or Karma-lab.
Hi ..I think this is one of the first things I would want to have available ...in my workstation!! ..
THANKS BUDDY , GREAT HELP YOU WERE.
Cool. You might like this one, as well. Same subject, but with sequencing. th-cam.com/video/hx0OUOgihAs/w-d-xo.html
You are always good for nice developments. Thanks. Anashwaran
Very helpful. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the good explanation!
You should definitely make more videos about the Kronos 😄
Thanks! I really like making Kronos videos. I've been busy with editing movie projects. Lots of work on those two.
Fantastic and very interesting demo !Thank you very much !I'll experiment this with my Kronos soon !( and my Oasys..)Friendly . Pierrot ♫
I'm glad you like it! You may want to watch this one, as well.

How is it possible to change the karma function with number 37 in combination mode with the emotion tempo in pitch bend Y + and Y-?
Can you still do this on the newer Kronos? What year is your Kronos? So cool to see it with lights and colors

Hi, how do you add a 5th group as SW5? I see the options offered till SW8 but I’m unable to set it since there is no E. Please advise. Thanks!
Switch 5 (Scene 5) is controlling GE modules A and B. In other words, the 8 switches are just combinations of GE modules A, B, C, D.
I wish the Kronos had a video out so I could run the video to a larger
monitor and use a mouse if I wanted to.

does this also work in sequencer mode ?
Yes, I made the video about that here: th-cam.com/video/hx0OUOgihAs/w-d-xo.html
It's possible to do that with arp running ?
How to do the same thing, with one arp run on midi ch1 and second karma arp on ch2 and so on... ?
Done thank you
