Last week i got a 5gl aquarium, I have 6 ghost shrimps, they took some feets and antenaes from the smaller one, that happened in the plastic bag when i was travelling home, lucky he is regenerating and is in good shape. Yes they ate she shed shell of one that was mmm growing. They hunt for food, and hunt for tetras, my poor neon tetras... Expensive meal...
@AndTheWorldSoared I wish I could set up an aquaponic-shrimps based system, that's why. Do you know about a shrimp specy that can be both bred and eaten ?
@111olbap Nope. Ghost shrimp have been known to hunt down smaller fish on occasion. "It has been observed that at warmer temperature, this Shrimp becomes very active and sometimes turns aggressive enough to attack other small animals."
@Henripostant I know Giant Malaysian Prawns are edible. You'd want to get them small and then fatten them up, though, because full grown ones are pricey.
Ten days on and my new, first of several I hope, Crystal Red is doing great. It's the Scottish water. They like to wedge themselves in this mini plastic bush I gave them.
@Henripostant They're shorter than an inch long, I don't know why you would want to. The big oceanic shrimp people eat are very different than the little aquarium ones.
@daveforfun22 If you are thinking the same about human evolution, I have to say you are wrong. In the world of the shrimp, where being bigger means you have lesser chances of being eaten, then what you said is true. However, we have taken away the need to survive predators a long time ago. One of the reasons why "bigger" humans may be attractive is partly genetic, that is true, but also the simple reason that it shows they have put in some effort in some way.
@daveforfun22 ...such as time working out at the gym. They have dedicated time to keeping themselves in good physical condition. A "smaller" human that puts in effort to improving something, whether it is on their physical or mental side, can have just as much value than a "bigger" one. This is how money works. It quantifies how much time and effort you have put in, and gives you return for that, regardless of your genetics..
They're so cute!
Oh wow. Absolutely gorgeous. I love this. I want to try my hand at this. You got a subber lol.
Very beautiful shrimps :)
This looks simply beautiful, they remind me of micro cows in a field.
Beautiful shrimp and tank! Really wish I had some dwarf baby tears carpeted like that. Might try it on my next tank I get :)

Wow, they look beautiful, is that specie not cannibal?? I have seen some canibalism in bigger shrimps.
How come some of the baby shrimp are black? Do you keep the red crystal shrimp with another kind of shrimp?
Brautiful shrimps!
Is the first shrimp on the food a CR cull or a CR and CB mut?
wouldn't the crs and cbs interbreed and the result in the end will likely be a bunch of low grade cbs?
what kind of filter would you recommend for them?
dude is the CRS shrimp do mix in the black one? and wat if they were breed? black and red???

Those are Crystal Blacks and Crystal Reds, a lot of times you'll get both from breeding reds or blacks.
0:56 shrimp cowboy ,yee haaaaaw

@111olbap Nope. Ghost shrimp have been known to hunt down smaller fish on occasion. "It has been observed that at warmer temperature, this Shrimp becomes very active and sometimes turns aggressive enough to attack other small animals."

Love your vid. I am trying to breed crystals too. They are so cool!
Crystal Black Shrimp come from Crystal Red Shrimp, CRS + CBS = Mostly Black with a few red. Cbs+ Cbs = almost all black with 2-3 red

@Henripostant I know Giant Malaysian Prawns are edible. You'd want to get them small and then fatten them up, though, because full grown ones are pricey.

Anyone know what carpeting plant that is?

It is Dwarf Baby Tears! In my shrimp videos you can see them scavenge through baby tear. I've found it to be their favorite!
@CzarWilkins You sure you're not just seeing them eat shed shells
@CzarWilkins Try getting crystal red shrimp instead.
