I spent a couple of hours watching various videos about this subject, but yours was the most easy to understand and the most well explained. Thank you so much! Big thumbs up! 🙂
Thanks a lot sir .. I admit using the Kontakt in a multiple entries since long years .. which runs a lot of cpu resources and you solve it for me .. wonder why I never searched for doing it in a better way. Thanks a lot !!!! For your time, passion and knowledge.
AMIGO. CON TU ENSEÑANZA HICE ALGO QUE POR MUCHO TIEMPO INTENTE CADA VEZ QUE VEIA EN OTROS TUTORIALES, PERO SOLO ME HA FUNCIONADO HASTA HOY. DE UNA MANERA SIMPLE Y FACIL. MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS PUES MI PC CORRE BIEN. UN ABRAZO. FRIEND. WITH YOUR TEACHING I DID SOMETHING THAT I TRIED FOR A LONG TIME EVERY TIME I SAW IN OTHER TUTORIALS, BUT IT HAS ONLY WORKED FOR ME UNTIL TODAY. IN A SIMPLE AND EASY WAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH BECAUSE MY PC RUNS WELL. A HUG
Again thank you Mike keep it up, you have saved me much pain and agony. Glad someone does these support tutorials. Helps those of us who just don't get it so simple once you know how.
Hey, man! You saved me. Last 4 hours I've been trying tie together all needed channels, outputs/inputs. Nothing worked as I wanted. But luckily I've found your tutorial. Now everything works well! Keep teachin us please :) One of the most qualitative videos about cakewalk and plugins I've seen.
Man, thank you. I wonder what will happen in Kontakt if I freeze one of the MIDI tracks. I usually use a lot of instruments and then leave them alone so I freeze them to shorten the load time of the project and also the RAM memory. Thank you again.
Thanks so much for a very clear explanation. Before I was using a separate instance of Kontakt for each instrument which then recorded a MIDI track. (You could then bounce to Audio later). After setting this up with multiple instruments in Kontakt it looks like you're able to record as MIDI, Audio or if both, if both tracks are armed. Do I have that right?
I have 8 string tracks and I was having this problem with 3 of them, so I created another instance of Kontakt to separate these 3 from the other 5, and that seems to have fixed the problem.
@@VictorTadashiOficial Here is a newer "trick" from Mike's other video. It gets 16 stereo outputs in one Kontakt instance: th-cam.com/video/wF64xNsM8T8/w-d-xo.html
1:41, 2:13 Add Kontakt with First Synth Audio Output and MIDI Source 4:04 Load a 2nd instrument. Select its output as Kontakt. 4:52 Give the guitar the right MIDI channel 5:30, 5:54 Add another instrument and MIDI track 6:30 Now we want to mix them separately in the console. 7:22 Show Outputs section in Kontakt 7:55 Use a Batch function. > Presets / Batch Configuration > Batch functions > Clear output section and create one individual channel for each loaded instrument > Yes. Now double click on each new output and rename them conveniently. 9:34, 10:08 Connect the other outputs in Cakewalk 10:42 Select the Input source for the audio track 11:39 Same for Drums 12:26 Add another instrument and create a MIDI track for it. 13:15 You can add channels manually, see other tutorial. 13:54 But you can still do it in the way already, though it renames everything again.
Great video, this has come just at the right time. I have been struggling all week with this specific problem. And up pops your video to solve it. Big thanks! :-)
Hi. Has anything changed since the day when this video was created? Today, when I was trying this method I couldn't make separate instruments sound on their own after clicking on a track like Mike does on 00:05:15 but instead they sound all at once. The meter is jumping only on the track that is clicked (input echo automatically jumps between selected tracks) but I can hear all instruments loaded into Kontakt.
Thanks again for a gr8 video - I have always found setting up Kontakt like this a bit of a pain - especially with Kontakt 5 where there are 3 kontakts showing to choose from with various numbers of track outputs, however I recently bought a Kontakt instument that required version 6 (this was NI Picked acoustic) and note that there is only 1 VST for this version. In version 5 I would go and rename the various Output versions then updates or something come along and for some reason the names change back I have always been confused why version 5 has different versions with varying numbers of outputs - do you have a recomendation for which you should choose - I must admit for simplicty I have tended to just create new instances of Kontakt - I have created templates previously for multiple instruments in Kontakt - but this did not seem to be very flexible - and it was not reliable opening up causing lockups in CW occasionally. Couple of questions - Is there a smart template you could recommend - I quite like the idea of single Audio output initially with seperate midi of course - then split Audio once instruments I am happy. 2nd question - would you recommend using just version 6 going forward - obviously this wont work if I need full sampling capability from version 5 (full version). A problem I have also noted with Kontakt is not sure if it Cakewalk but if I leave my computer for a while (goes to sleep) Kontakt seems to need an Audio reset (pressing the i) - this took me ages to work out - previously I exited CW and restarted it.
Hi Mike, how do I layer sounds like for example 2 instruments at once a piano and strings in cakewalk? I want to record both instruments at once. Please reply, Thanks!
Did you find out how to do that? I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to get the drum pieces on seperate tracks. If you could help me out I'd be more than grateful. Thanks.
I set it up slightly differently with 8 output ports in Kontakt even though I did not have instruments yet loaded. I then set up Cakewalk with 8 audio tracks and also midi tracks saved them as a track template. Then if I want to use Kontakt I simply load the track template and delete unwanted tracks. (I figure I would rarely use more than 8 Kontakt instruments in any one project but the could change). The trick is saving the track template to avoid a heap of work each use, just a thought.
Another nice video with lots of tips. One problem: many of the methods (except for Kontakt-specifics) apply to other multi-channel, multi-port soft synths. :-)
Hi Mike, your multiple outs for Kontakt works great -thx. Could you do a similiar video for Ueberschall Elastik in Cakewalk? I really appreciate your videos. Dan
At 3:28 when you open Kontakt that window does not appear for me. I vet a screen that shows Libraries, Files, Database, Expert, Instructions Now. That is 1/3rd of the screen. Next to that the other 2/3rds has Multi Rack and then lists MIDI channel numbers. I cannot find actual instruments anywhere. Am I missing something obvious?
Thank you so much for these wonderful touturials it's so helpful , so far i was always confused for a long time about which is the best daw out there ? in fact i'v been working on cubase for years and also studio one was involved , but two months eariler i just wanted to try cakewalk for the first time , now here what i found and please correct me if i'm wrong , i found that cakewalk has a much clear and rich sound than other daws , i made a small mix without any effects with the same parameters on the three daws and came out with a fact that confirms my opinion , please tell me is that true for some reason or i'am wrong ?!
Amazing video, thank you very much! I would like to know how to do the same with Reason plugin. If someone could give an indication, it would be awesome. Thanks! 😄
Hi Mike, where do I have to install DrumMicA and Kontakt so I can see and use it in Cakewalk? I have downloaded both to a folder on my desktop and installed them (hitting "Kontakt 5 5.6.6 Setup PC.exe" and "DrumMicA Setup PC.exe" and following the instructions). I managed to open DrumMicA and listen to some of the nice loops. However, I'm kinda stuck in the middle and don't know how to make them available in Cakewalk. Thanks
So I've gone through with all of this video, but I still have a problem. The instruments all seem to play fine, but then all except for the first one stop playing, or play very quietly. If I double-click on the instrument in kontakt/reset the instrument and re-set it up, it plays fine until it stops working again. Anyone know why this would be happening?
So recorded the drums. with Omni. Then when I try to add bass its playing the bass to the drum midi?? I have followed each step someone please help me this is insane
I found one I haven't seen yet. (; - o) I still don't understand what Kontakt is. Is it a library or storage program? It's obviously pretty neat, but why do need/want it? Blessings from the Emerald City.
I was following but this was so confusing to follow 😭😂 I come from Ableton and FL studio and I’ve been following and learning from other tutorials but this routing was really hard to focus cuz it was so much work

You are a beautiful, beautiful man. Thank you for this. I'm using this to route drums to different tracks. It is lovely. 🙂
Awesome video... Never knew how to do this think... Best tutorials channel for Cakewalk/Sonar.... Thanks

Yet again you generously give us this incredible content. Thanks, this was driving me nuts!
Thanks, always nice to get some 'under the hood' knowledge about these connections. Needed it.
Thanks a lot. Very clear, my headache is gone
Another enjoyable video - you make learning fun - which is a rare gift!
Mike, this video is great. Funny ending!!! LOL
You'd find the Play engine from Eastwest QL even easier to route multiple instruments from one instance of Play. This is good 👍 video 📹.
hi mike. could you do a tutorial on how to setup multi audio outputs in native instruments battery 4 in cakewalk?
Great video Mike! It would be nice to see this done with Sample Tank 4 Max inside of Cakewalk.
Thanks, that was a great help. You rock, my dude!
Great job Mike. Thanks!
Many thanks Mike. This Kontakt stuff has been annoying the crap out of me but now it's pretty simple really. Have a great Christmas and New Year mate!
Hi, thanks for the content. i have a question. How does knobs automation work on that setting
I have Maschine Mk3 here at home (and use it frequently, ) I wonder if I can get / use Kontakt in my Cake walk?
Thanks so much for a very clear explanation. Before I was using a separate instance of Kontakt for each instrument which then recorded a MIDI track.

Much appreciated, excellent as always.

Brilliant, thanks Mike!
Wow, for a "quick, unintended" video this was really well explained and also quite funny. Thank you, I just subscribed! :)
Another informative and very useful tutorial. Profuse thanks
Neat! Besides being very helpful, I found it also very entertaining
Yes! I've run into that problem... I have two string tracks that, for some reason, go into the same output. Is there a way to separate them?

Really appreciate it! Thank you!

Yes, actually that's true, and kind of occurred to me afterwards!
Nice!! Thank You mate!!

Mike, Can that also be done with Komplete Kontrol?
Can you give a video tutorial on how to install kontakt into the Cakewalk as plugin?

so cumbersome but somewhat necessary to save precious number crunching power
Absolutely! I so wish they would just make it intuitive in Kontakt - it feels like an afterthought, but been like that for years!
Great! Thank you much!!;-)
My pleasure:)
I HOPE long descriptive names are a thing now:) Better that than assigning some random name for it:)
So recorded the drums. with Omni. Then when I try to add bass its playing the bass to the drum midi?? I have followed each step someone please help me this is insane

All the sounds are correct, but when the drum kit is added, it is added to all the sounds, I have to open a separate contact for the drum kit.
I want to see, for example, a contact and another virtual instrument on the screen
Still can't here the instrument??? I have to set it to Omni? Is this right?
It seems the multiple multi out versions no longer exist. There's only one version of kontakt, and I presume it's just the 64 out.
I was following but this was so confusing to follow 😭😂 I come from Ableton and FL studio and I’ve been following and learning from other tutorials but this routing was really hard to focus cuz it was so much work
fOR SOME REASON MINE STILL ISN'T WORKING i MUST BE SO DUMB. sO FRUSTRATING i'M DESPERATE TO GET BACK TO WRITTING MUSIC AFTER MANY YEARS AWAY FROM IT
And I need to turn off caps lock too lol
I've got a better idea. Don't use Kontakt.
Awww - but I love my Spitfire Albion strings too much!
