In 1986, I had one just like the one you've got your hands on. Rescued it from a garage to replace the 1978 KZ650 I rescued from a backyard the year before. Despite my best efforts it was a lousy touring bike and three years later a 1982 GS850G took its place.
I love the Z-1, A, B, KZ900 A, LTD, KZ1000 A2, LTD, DAMMIT, these bikes still hold their own to this day, i've had every year, the 1973 Z-1 is my retirement motorcycle, either all original or fully restored!!! I have a '76 KZ900 LTD, love to have that one fully restored, gotta keep the KERKER pipe though!!! Right on Johnny👍👍😎😎
Spoke with Marie a few days ago. Gonna purchase a rear grab bar for the 74 H1 I'm restoring. Hoping you have an ignition cover plate for it as well. I sent a text to her late this past evening, so hoping I'll hear back from her tomorrow. Great people you have helping you out Johnny
I remember the dual-disc kits. In the early 80's when I started when I first started at a Kawasaki dealer, we had a couple of those kits that had been sitting around for years. We couldn't give them away. Now, I couldn't image what a new, unused kit would be worth. I am surprised though that none of those bikes ( especially the 1000LTD ) didn't have an oil cooler. That was often one of the first things done, epsecially if you were making engine modifications. They are all beauties though.
Brother had 74 kz900 the green 💚 paint loved that bike he let me take it for a day once I wore a zoot suit for some reason he painted it 💙 he had a 2 half foot travel Sissy bar are they still called that or is it triggering ha great videos
Some day Johnny will have a nice Z1 too ... very funny. What would your perfect own bike be? I think I can guess, a 1979 Wes Cooley GS1000 in blue and white. Just joking :-) I'd love to know the answer.
