  • Ever since Mark Polk did a video on vinyl peel-and-stick tiles, my wife has been wanting me to do that in our RV. At the time, the tiles were made in Canada, so they were hard to find and more expensive than they are now.
    We were in our local Menards the other day and found some real stone veneer that was also peel-and-stick. And unlike most products of this type, it is very lightweight (about 3lbs for the amount I needed).

    It looks like we're very much alike! Another thing my Mrs wanted was to replace the standard backsplashes in back of the cooktop and on one side. She chose the stainless steel-looking self-adhesive tiles, which actually look pretty good compared to the rather drab originals.

      Hi, I was wondering, five months later, how easy it is to clean the grease splatters?

  • @Hundert1
    @Hundert1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Makes sense, nice smooth, easy wipe clean, pretty.

      I tried the Aspect tiles on my Reflection 2018 27RL. We live in Charlotte NC and it gets hot. It looked great for about two weeks. With the camper was in storage it gets hot inside. All the tiles fell off onto the stove and stuck together. The camper is new and we had never cooked on the stove top so there was no grease on the walls. I threw the whole mess in the trash.

    How's it holding up? I'm about to install some Aspect tiles in the RV.

    • @RVProject
      @RVProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first winter after I installed it, one piece fell off - but I just simply pushed it back on. Since then - some 3 1/2 years later, they have all stayed on and still look great.

    How has it held up to hot weather? I’ve seen some reviews that say it frequently comes off. Has that been your experience? Thanks for posting this!

    • @RVProject

      One strip fell off over the winter after the first year I installed it. But after 2 1/2yrs, no strips have fallen off.

    How is it holding out? I checked those tiles today at Home Depot & wondered about the backing of the tiles vs the heat. I'm renovating a vintage Silver Streak. It has a 4 burner stove. So yes, heat may be an issue. Also humidity from cooking?

    • @RVProject
      @RVProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far they have held up.

    Would this add weight to the camper. Always keeping an eye on that.

    • @RVProject
      @RVProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am always sensitive to weight as well. But fortunately, the stone is so thin that it only adds about 3 pounds.

    Wow that really made a big difference, and looks custom. Very nice job! I am new to your channel but have enjoyed it very much so far, I do have a request though. I found your channel because my wife and I are looking to buy a new RV, while looking for reviews on Grand Design I ran across your review two years ago or so, the request I have is maybe something you have already done but I am very interested in finding out what you guys think of your Grand Design now after owning it and using it for a couple of years. Thanks again for your channel.

      One thing about RVs. They are all lacking in build quality and workmanship, regardless of brand. And that does include Grand Design. They are average or perhaps a bit higher than average.
      However, what sets Grand Design apart is their outstanding customer service. I cannot say enough good about it.
      The typical mfg. won't even give you the time of day after the sale... in contrast, Grand Design wants to make sure you are taken care of.
      Talk to anyone that has bought a new RV, and almost without exception they will tell you they had to have something fixed.
      Grand Design is a bit on the premium price side, but they also put the cool stuff in their rigs. Just about everything is standard, whether it be the automatic leveling system, water management panel, or other items, many of their competitors have those items as options. The only thing that is lacking in my view is the bed... it feels like sleeping on a rock.
      If I were to do it again, Grand Design would be my first choice.

      So far, it is looking great. We are just coming out of the sub-freezing winter temperatures here in the upper midwest, and looks like the freezing did not do any damage over the winter.
