    2:46 Alpine butterfly knotted carabiners - cool

      Amy, The Alpine butterfly knot is excellent for putting non slipping loops on a line. I've made 4 ladder lines of different capacities and I feel completely confident in the knots. My other ladder line is rated 5200 lb. It is thick enough to have a nice feeling in hand. I'll never come close to breaking it.

      Time, search out the news on Morro storms. As of now, the beach has a lot of storm debris. Time will tell. My advice, equip with something that won't snag if landed in debris. You are doing the night kite, yes?

      @@PanyingPilot I've been watching the beach cams and a friend sent some video a few weeks ago from a visit. Looks like lots of erosion occurred. Yes we're bringing some LED kites and plan to stay until Monday.

      @@tims.alaska Flying from the parking lot should not be a problem, provided the wind is coming off the shore and not from behind the rock. With the extended time at Morro, you and I both will have an opportunity to get something to stick in the air. Should be fun!

    Hope to see you at Morro Bay kite festival.

      What are you going to fly, Ken? Right now there is a lot of creek debris on the beach. Be sure to bring something that doesn't require long tails as an addition to your other stuff. Snag hazzard possibly.

    You had a great Spring weekend to fly kites. Looks so good. It brings back the memory of fun sunny days. THE STREETS HERE ARE PACKED. Spring break for the Oregon Schools is this week. Next week are the Western WA Schools. The third week is the Eastern WA schools. On 3-25; we could start digging razor clams again. No one dug as the weather was in the high 30's to low 40's. WITH LOT'S OF RAIN & WIND. Life at the beach... My camera & gear are ready for the first day of warm sun. Great to see you flying...

      James, we were so happy to work on our kiting skills. We owned the location for those days. Kids were still in school. Looking forward to your next visual report on Long Beach. Stay warm.

    Glenn, Thanks so much for showing details of your rigging at the anchor end. Not many paople show their rigging and the info is most important for safe and enjoyable flying

    • @PanyingPilot
      @PanyingPilot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Scott, I think kiters always are on the prowl for tips and tricks. My advice, learn the Alpine butterfly knot and make a simple ladder line out of cheap rope or cord before doing a good one. Another trick. I sleeved each loop with not heated shrink tubing to mitigate chafing.

      Your recent storms scoured your beach. At Morro, the storms have choked the beach with debris from the canyon nearby. Will it be usable for the Morro life fest at the end of April? Fingers crossed. Otherwise, Coalinga has been kind, windwise.

      Didn't attend Huntington due to weather and cost to value, but missed it anyway. Morro at the end of April may be touch and go owing to the storm debris on the beach. We shall see.

    Hello Glenn nice that you had good weather for kiting for 3 days... your new mini sting and the hammerhead shark look very nice in the blue sky... I hope that the weather will improve here so that I can fly my kites again... .Thanks for showing 👍

      Hi Ingo, it was fun and instructive to get those new guys out of the bag and into the air. We stopped a number of drivers on the nearby roadway to take photos of the display. While the weather is bad, you can always fine tune your kites before the next outing. It helps a bit. I look forward to your next video clip.

      I'm always happy on the first flight when I have a new kite, unfortunately the weather here wasn't so good for kite flying, rain, storm, no wind or there was water on our kite meadow, so I used the time to do mine Repair kites and sew up a few wind chimes. A new video will come tomorrow evening ( German time )

      Hi Carl, I am hoping the storm wrecked beach at Morro will be cleaned enough to allow us brave souls to fly and not snag everything on the sands. Cherie and I are looking forward to it at the end of April. We were able to have 3 good days between dismal weather, like today. It was good practice for us in technique. We hope you too will be putting something up for the group soon.
