Miku is an amazingly smart lady, Band-Maid is her vision. Her no ego approach (stepping back from being the lead-vocalist, conning Saiki to join and learn playing guitar from scratch) has had me in awe for the last 6 years.
Miku will never be the one to say it can’t be done. She is always willing to put in the hard work and from the beginning was the front woman for the band. As the others were maybe too shy to put themselves out there. Miku’s time working in Maid Cafe industry and being in an idol band helped her being the great front woman today. Kanami is the one pushing the band musically…Miku is that one pushing the members to connect with the audience and helped create their unique stage personalities. Looking forward to part 2…even though I have seen these documentaries multiple times I enjoy others learning about this amazing band. 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!
Again an excellent reaction!!! I truly love this band. I am in my seventies now and before my first Band Maid experience, I only listened to "old rock," jazz and classical. I couldn't stand what is called music today, but Band Maid changed that for me and now along with them I have found my rock is alive and well and living in Japan. Band Maid is my favorite band and I compare them to Led Zeppelin in that they have that closeness as a group and as almost family. These Ohrenje videos have made them so human and so much more special to us Maidiacs, and I am truly thankful for them because of that. Miku is so special and she is a life lesson for everyone on this planet. Talent is a great thing, but it only becomes great with incredible effort and this little lady has that in spades, and I am forever grateful to her for that.
Saw Sheena Ringo live a few weeks ago in Saitama. She sold out Saitama Super Arena three shows over a 4 day period. Still a huge star. Great eclectic show.
Everything about Band Maid's history is amazing. Of all of the bands that I have loved and followed over the years, the Maids are one of a very few that reach me on every level. Music, ability, together and separately, personalities and especially their character. They are real and pure people. And their friendship is inspiring and should be a lesson for all young artists everywhere. Thanks for another great reaction.
I love the fact that they are "natural people", not artificial people full of ego. They can do stupid things on stage -- give one another piggyback rides, throw banana skins into the audience then look embarrassed, goof around, go play ten pin bowling next door during Miku's Omajinai Time. They are ordinary people in a nice way, with extraordinary musical talents -- not full of themselves, but always wanting to improve their skills: they want to serve the "masters and princesses" the best music they can.
Ah, my favourite 3 docs from Ohrenje. Miku is one of the most inspiring women I've ever encounterd. Watching her journey over the past 7 years inspired me to pick up a guitar after decades away from one and, again by hearing and seeing how hard she has practiced and studied and learned, pushed me to practice every day for a couple of hours now. As you said, Jimmy, it's not about having a gift or being lucky to play well, it's about the work one puts in to reach that point where it looks effortless (and you did make Puzzle look pretty effortless!). Yes, only practice, practice, practice will help you improve and reach the point you wanted to arrive at but luckily Japan has some good advice on these matters. There is a Japanese philosophical system called Kaizen, which is about changing through small steps, especially habits or learning new skills and a philosophical concept called Wabi-sabi (which Miku has mentioned in her lyrics recently) which is about, among other things, finding beauty in imperfection (ie, the noise produced by me trying to learn Ionian scales where occasionally a note sounds nice!). And always remember what the 17th century Japanese Samurai, master swordsman and philosopher poet Miyamoto Musashi said about learning new things: "It may be difficult at first...but everything is difficult at first." 😂 See you two on Band-Maid Friday (well, and all the days between now and then too, obviously). I'm keeping my fingers crossed! 😂❤🤘PO!
Tony that was really an awesome comment. I am familiar with Kaizen... I am going to look into wabi-sabi though. I for years have studied Japanese and Japanese culture and have spent a lot of time in Japan probably over a year in my lifetime now... And it's a whole different world over there ...I love their ethic and dedication. It's no wonder amazing things come from there. We are so blessed to be connected with them through music now all of us , including you and the audience. We are the ones that get it! Thanks as always for a really insightful comment... I always learn something!! PO!! 🕊️🕊️
@@TJandTheGringa I meant to say that it would be interesting to hear sometime about your travels in Japan. Wabi-sabi is a very interesting concept to look into and you'll enjoy it. The appreciation of beauty in things like a patina of rust on a golden statue - being a reminder of impermanence - is why MISA has all her Black Smoker guitars 'aged' with discoloured patches!
Saiki didn't really audition. Miku was looking for a vocalist, heard her recording and instantly wanted her. The hard work didn't stop either. Miku did all the promotion and publicity. In their first 10 years, they ground out over 400 live performances, the members driving their van, and setting up and packing up their equipment.
It's such a miracle that Band-Maid has made it to where they are. Everything had to fall just right for them to break out from the crowd. Especially overseas! And thank goodness it did work out how it did! Makes me wanna talk about my Band-Maid discovery and journey. So... Big ol blurb below. Feel free to ignore it. lol Like most early Band-Maid fans, I discovered them with "Thrill". But not right away. I discovered them 8 years ago. Two days before the video for "the non-fiction days". I remember that specifically, because I was binge watching the few videos that were on their TH-cam channel over and over again. I was fascinated by MISA bass solo in "Thrill", and then blown away by Kanami's solo right after. The slim selection from their TH-cam page was all I listened to for months, until I finally found their album "Just Bring It" online. Along with two T-shirts for the band. They were anime style girls with horns an guitars, with Band-Maid written along the bottom. They re-released those shirts not long ago, but I've got two originals that are hanging on my wall as prized possessions. I looked up every bit of stuff I could find that wasn't on their TH-cam page, like "Moratorium", and all the interviews I could find, because as it turns out, the ladies were fascinating personality wise as well. I'd never seen a badass rock band just so humble, and genuinely friendly with each other. It made me love em even more. During all this time I was working in the electronics department of a Walmart. And aside from beating my co-workers over the head with my obsession for Band-Maid (Which I knew annoyed them, but I didn't care), I would also badger any customer who bough a CD with music that gave me the impression they could possibly go for some Band-Maid. "Hey, since you like this... Ever hear of Band-Maid? A Japanese rock band, with REALLY unique instrumentation, and an awesome singer. Uh, yes. It's in Japanese... Mostly. But don't let that sway you, you should give it a shot!" It was always a hard sell. Being in mid-America smaller city. Somewhere along the line, reactors started picking up Band-Maid, realizing there is a rabid following of about 3,000 people that tends to watch darn near ANY reactor that will feature Band-Maid. Of those, not many could give good insight on the band, nor we're saying that much at all. Just listens without saying something, then "That's my reaction thanks for coming!". But there are a few stand outs that did a great job, and even Band-Maid knows about them, because they watch reactions to their own videos. Like when they called out Mr. Rock n Roll during their American tour. And there is the people like Orhenje whose video we just saw. Real carrier pigeons. Spreading the word of Band-Maid. Now Band-Maid is closer than ever to their goal of world domination. And they are doing it on their own terms too. Amazing. That's not everything, but I've yapped enough. Hey Tequila Jimmy and The Gringa. Great reaction to Miku's first Doc.. I requested the song (You)from BandMaids( Just Bring It) album. Also, the work culture in Japan is so brutal that people need to unwind with easy music combined with easy lyrics. Lil Cumin pop style is okay by me and it freaks me out how much some people hate on pop music. The Japanese Metal Women Bands will never say bad things about pop. You have already seen Cluppo that does poppy stuff. Imo, pop songs can have lyrics that have many levels of meaning depending on what you want to delve into or ignore. So, "Man With A Mission" - please no hate for JPop please. Love for Rock and Metal - "YES".
I love some Jpop .. I mentioned Kyary Pamyu Pamyu in a cluppo video recently.. Personally I love all music that moves me.. If it resonates with me in any way I'm all for it. I also love when they mix Jpop w/ Jrock.. those sounds mesh great together :) .. You wont hear us hating on JPoP as I really like alot of it myself.
I started to practice guitar during covid. Watching TH-cam videos. Today I'm definitely more fluently with the cords. Everything is closer to be possible if you put your mind into it. Personal tip from a non experienced guitar player. Always leave the guitar visible in a stand, never put it away in a bag.
It’s interesting that two of the Maids were raised by single mothers. It seems you will find many people from broken homes working in entertainment in Japan. Being an entertainer is not seen as a “respectable” occupation in Japan, but coming from a broken home might knock you off the path to “lifetime employment” at a large firm. That’s something that no longer exists in Japan, but earlier generations would strive for. Men for lifetime employment; women under the age of 24, so they could meet a man with a good job.
I was looking forward to seeing this episode with you guys today. But I also had to lay watching it so I can make sure that I got in on the limited edition bandmade merch and the bandmade acoustic CD. I know it's up for a few more days but I wanted to be one of the first to make sure I got the limited run items.
There’s some great anime that they showed in this. Primarily K-On. This anime led me to Band-Maid! If you can find it, you should do a reaction on it! It’s about girls forming a band in their high school. It’s very funny, cute, and great music! Also, when it came time to try to have a “look” for the band, they thought of Maid costumes! This was before Band-Maid.
When Kobato was in Lil' Cumin her name was Mika Noguchi. A lot of Japanese musicians use stage names or only use their given name. An exception is Saiki Atsumi which is her real name. As for the rest of the maids I think we don't know for sure. There was a big dust up a few years ago when someone found their pre-Band-Maid social media (now removed). Band-Maid fandom quickly quashed anyone spreading the info.
The reason Maids don't like being photographed is because they charge for everything, and taking their picture, or taking a picture with them, is one of their sources of income. But, even from the beginning, MISA & Saiki have always been The Darkness Sisters. Go back and look at their Red Outfits from 'Thrill'. Their Red is a darker red than the other girls. Edgy! But MISA was always the leader when it came to doing something first. She was the first to ditch the apron, and the first to don the Tiny Hat. She was also in stocking feet back when Kanami was still wearing heels. As for Best BAND-MAID Cover Band, check out Mission Souls and their version of 'Bestie'. It's a family band, sometimes with the grown ups, sometimes not, but their drummer looks about 5. He's great, but the drumsticks look like baseball bats in his hands.
Gotcha that makes sense. Was never really trying to photograph them I was just walking and filming along the sidewalk in Akihabara. I just noticed they would all cover their faces I walked by although the camera was pointing at me.
@@TJandTheGringa kinda like the strippers out on Fremont Street in Vegas. If they see you taking a pic from a distance, they get pissed and will flip you off 😂
Thank you so much!! Hearing that we are your go-to channel means so much to us! It gives us drive to make things even better for you guys. As far as I know nobody has produced this type of documentary for Lovebites... I have tinkered with the idea of collaborating with you guys (the audience) to produce individual docs on the members in Lovebites for 2025... I believe ohrenji has been asked but really doesn't have interest outside of band-maid to do these. He does a fabulous job but yeah it would be cool to have something like this for Lovebites as well... we've learned so much about bandmaid and have really grown to love the individual members.
I'm Japanese, but I agree that it's totally "weird" to hear something like a noodle cafe, which I've never been to. However, if there's an owl cafe or a cat cafe nearby, I'll give it a try😂 Thanks for sharing!
@@himbo754 I think, from the pieces I read that it is another stage name. Japanese loves stage names - correction: most countries use stage names to sound better than the original name and surname.
If you pause it at the little speech interview Miku does winning the idol competition, she actually says her real name...Miku Kobato is not her real name. Her real name is in the typed words translated at top.
@@eaglez1901 No. Her family are really private. Her real name has been posted a few times on certain media (the others too), but it's immediately deleted. Japanese fans are really protective of them. Actually it's rare in Japan for stars to use their real names.
The Noodle Cafe is just one of the many creepy aspects of the Idol Industry designed to get lonely men to part with their money in exchange for the opportunity to meet (and even touch the hands of) a cute young girl.
😂🤣😂... Trust me I know exactly what you mean. There's a great documentary I'm sure you've seen on idols and how the older gentleman will part with most of their salaries just to have a few minute meet and greet with the idols. Can't remember exactly the name of the documentary but I'm sure if you search Japanese idol documentary it will come up.
the orange haired girl on Ohrenjes docs "Mika" is modeled after Miku, because Miku Kobato is a stage name, her real name is Mika Noguchi, just a fun fact i thought i would throw out for you, and of course all your subs, because you seem to be really trying to understand them and their music
Lot of comments here saying Miku's real name is Mika Noguchi, truth is no one knows if that was her real name or just another stage name. Of course people will just post stuff on the internet as if it's true even when they have no idea if it's actually right or not.

Awesome!! 😃😃
@@TJandTheGringa She actually did *Choose Me* live and did *Daydreaming* on the acoustic show.
Oh really...we haven't seen the whole show yet. .. we most definitely will be checking everything out by then of course 😃😃
@@TJandTheGringa Actually the daydreaming was from the March 20, 2024 Acoustic show then the 2021 Christmas Acoustic show.
So they finally get that keyboardist they mentioned in their 2013 advertisement for recruiting members.

Wait til you see the next 2 Po!

I told you it would all make sense later po!
Definitely coming together now 😃
Cheers Bob.👍
Hell yes!! that's a lot more important I hope you got your hands on it!!
@@TJandTheGringa I did got the items I wanted
There’s some great anime that they showed in this. Primarily K-On. This anime led me to Band-Maid! If you can find it, you should do a reaction on it! It’s about girls forming a band in their high school. It’s very funny, cute, and great music! Also, when it came time to try to have a “look” for the band, they thought of Maid costumes! This was before Band-Maid.

Taka, the singer of One Okay Rock, has both parents that are Enka singers.

I like these BAND-MAID documentaries your both doing. Are there any LOVEBITE documentaries that you know of? Your my go to channel.
@@TJandTheGringa Thank you for replying to me and your explanation. Your good people.
I'm Japanese, but I agree that it's totally "weird" to hear something like a noodle cafe, which I've never been to. However, if there's an owl cafe or a cat cafe nearby, I'll give it a try😂 Thanks for sharing!
😎🤩
I read somewhere that first of all Miku is a stage name. And she decided that Mika would be confused with MISA, so she decided to Miku.
And Kobato literally means 'small pigeon'. All of them have stage names except Saiki I believe.
@@Davey-Boyd agreed.
She was Mika Noguchi in Lil Cumin. I don't know if Noguchi was her real surname or an early stage name.
@@himbo754 I think, from the pieces I read that it is another stage name. Japanese loves stage names - correction: most countries use stage names to sound better than the original name and surname.
🤘🤘🤘🤘💙💙💙💙👋
If you pause it at the little speech interview Miku does winning the idol competition, she actually says her real name...Miku Kobato is not her real name. Her real name is in the typed words translated at top.
Only Saiki uses her real name, the others all use stage-names.
@Davey-Boyd i thought Kanami did too 🤔
@@eaglez1901 No.
🕊👀❤🥃
🍺🥴
Lot of comments here saying Miku's real name is Mika Noguchi, truth is no one knows if that was her real name or just another stage name. Of course people will just post stuff on the internet as if it's true even when they have no idea if it's actually right or not.
