I had a 2011 Sonata once with this engine and I used 5w-30 instead of the recommended 5w-20. It ran noticeably quieter with 30. I loved that car just for one thing which was the gas mileage. On a full tank, I drove 14 hours and I still had 100 miles left on the tank when I arrived at my destination.
This is what my car is doing I was low on oil got an oil change yesterday and the engine light is still flashing slow to pick up speed then drives fine. Got a 1326 code for knock sensor . Should I start with a tuneup?
Tuneup isn't correlated with that code 90 percent of the time in relationship to kia/hyundai, because of the update programed in car computer for failsafe measures. Issue need to be investigate with a person familiar with that issue because typically it's an engine or oil consumption issue. Knock sensor data can be observed in cars pcm "live data" category. With a factory compatible scan tool.
Sound like a locked up motor buddy 😆... make sure you can spin the engine at the crank pulley, if not the engine locked up. If so, check your battery and starter
So I had to replace my father. In laws valve cover gasket cuz There was an oil leak and even oil inside the the number one spark plug and I mean the spark plug was covered in oil almost covering it completely with oil. I got it all out without pulling the spark plug out but when I finished and took it for a drive I know there is a knocking noise but no engine light on at all. Should I replace the spark plugs since that first spark plug was swimming in oil? We got no leaks now but I can hear that Knocking and should I pull the oil sensor you pulled out and check it?
Hopefully you didn't drop anything in the engine when doing the valve cover, strange it made noise after the replacement. I'm assuming it's ran fine before? Yes, check the oil control solenoid for debris. Check your engine oil level also mainly
@@partsshooter no it made it before I even started the job I should of said, I though maybe it was even the cam follower and replace that to after the noise didn’t go away but it was still there but no engine light on
@@partsshooter that noise is what Initially made me check in the engine bay and when I looked there was leaking in the rear in the engine leaking all over the shield to the manifold, then when I begin to take the coils off I found the spark plug filled with oil in the number one, thank god nothing bad happen so I cleaned it all up, replaced the valve cover gasket through everything back in and started right back up but still heard the knocking noise so then that’s when I replace the cam follower which did rattle so put a new one and still made a knocking noise but no engine light either.
@@partsshooter I am wondering cuz it was leaking and oil was low that the oil valve checker you were talking about went bad from oil fuel until I found the issue?
@@Tantobuds619 it's best to upload a TH-cam short of a full walk around of the car making noise. Get a good shoot of you starting incar and walking around, over engine bay view, close ups etc

Same issue same car same code. Hope this fixes it
@@DougS-z1odid it fixed the issue ?
Isn't this the notorious 2.4L grenade of an engine? I believe it is called the theta 2 engine.
Thank you ❤

Changed knock sensor for 2017 Hyundai Tucson, spark plugs, oil change, and new battery, still no start, just one click

Hyundai engines are trash
Na most of the damage is from neglect.
