It also wont let you mount the mini facing up which i had to resort to upside down which isn't recommended by racebox. As far as the weight difference, I couldnt find exact number but theyre pretty similar since the mini has the magnet in it and makes it weigh about the same of the larger unit. You can set it to be as soon as you accelerate or the 1 foot mode that simulates a drag strip measuring equipment which starts at 1 foot after starting.
It's not adviced to mount the unit upside down. The patch antenna sits beneath the red Logo und should be pointed to the sky. Only this way you will get best reception and accuracy (avoiding multipath signal reception).
You don’t have to. It communicates via Bluetooth to the device and the device has the GPS internally that captures the data and then sends it to the phone via Bluetooth.

So on the iPhone, it can connect to this and your car's Bluetooth at the same time right? Exactly what I need cause my Garmin Glo 2 does the same. This should be better as it has a faster refresh rate

So if my Racebox mini setup works out, I'll add waypoints to the track file, and have the app read it out through the car's stereo and see if that extra refresh rate on the Mini actually works off-road (Garmin Glo 2 can fall behind sometimes at pace). Hope I'm making sense

Do you have to have your phone with the device or will the device "hold" the data and then when you bring it near your phone, push the data to the phone?

Yup! It might actually be better than on a windshield because of the direct outlook to satellites. Just make sure it’s pointing up and not upside down like I did for better accuracy (per RaceBox’s suggestion lol). Don’t forget to use my code for a discount. The Dragy is my second one with both of them stopped taking a charge and I'm looking for something that doesn't have that habit. I really like the read out screen on the Racebox. Does the Racebox have an app to go along with it yet? I know the Mini and Mini S do.

Great question. I think for quick runs I like the mini more. For example, when I’m filming my car reviews, I usually have info that I’m looking at on my phone as well as have apple CarPlay to show it off in the review. Remember that the phone does have to be with the mini to get the data from it. If you’re in a car, and want to see live feedback, you’ll need to mount your phone as well. It’s also got the hill climb feature plus splash resistant. Don’t forget to charge your phone! That’s where the original one does better. With the built in screen, you have the live feedback and don’t need your phone with you. Downside is the size and obviously the price (use code revmatch5 for discount on either). Will this automatically reset when you go back to 0 mph? And, will it continue to record data even if your phone goes to sleep? The p-gear stops recording when the phone goes to sleep which is the reason I didn't get it.
It will do a second run when you go to 0 and start again. This is what RaceBox’s CTO had to say about that. Doesn’t matter where you keep the phone. As for locking - it depends. Some phones are too aggressive with their power saving and disconnect the BLE when in background. As long as you drive the app should maintain it unlocked so you should be OK.
I haven’t tried the p610 so I can’t really say which one would work better. I like RaceBox’s support. They’ve been great with customers when they have issues or questions in their Facebook group

I'm really disappointed that it doesn't do more than four measurements at a time. This really makes it inferior to Dragy. I was really looking forward to the 25Hz satellites, and that part is very accurate but only four measurements? Really? And you also can't seem to get your quarter mile times out of kph. What about us us people that use mph? I don't want to have to keep googling my trap speeds.

How far does the Bluetooth connect? I want it for my sons race kart, but I don't want to put my phone in his firesuit while he's out there.

I ordered some much better Type C covers from amazon a pack of 4 made out of plastic. Instead of rubber.

Yep, thats why tht 1 yr standby on the batteryis important. Essentially the “power button” is on your phone (in the app)
