Synopsis:
Cheng Shao Shang is a young girl who was forced to grow up alone after most of her family had to leave to fight in a bloody war. Thus she becomes stubborn and untrusting. She fends for herself in a town populated by people like her, who have been left behind by the war.
One day, a talented and powerfu general named Ling Bu Yi comes to the town - and falls in love with her at first sight. He resolves to marry her, even though it will cause him no end of problems if he decides to pursue this union. She also warns him that she doesn’t trust him, and that her stubborn personality might not be suitable for the wife of a general. But Ling Bu Yi also has deep secrets, and there are facts about his true identity that even he does not know. Niao Niao is too arrogant and ungrateful. Ling buyi always helped her but she is unnecessarily rude to him just bcz she isn't able to control him like she did with Yao. She is no different from her mother. Both lady wants to control others. Ling Buyi is too good for Niao Niao.She doesn't deserve him at all. So far Qiqi is the only one sensible lady here

She’ll treat him well as long as he does everything her way. HE’s the one that has to make all of the compromises & all of the sacrifices to suit her. If he doesn’t, she’ll relapse into one of her “poor me” “I’m so unlucky” “I just want to be free””why can’t I marry someone that I can completely control to do what I want?” pity parties. Maybe she’ll mature more as she gets to know him and the hell that he has experienced - watching his father murdered, waking up and seeing all of his family, loved ones dead, mutilated & murdered. Yes, the Emperor did raise him as a prince & he wanted for nothing. But the memory in his mind will take time to learn to deal with because it will never completely go away. Just like Shaoshang’s feelings of being unloved & abandoned will take time - but at least she does still have a chance to work through those feelings with her parents. Anyway…..like I noted, maybe she’ll mature and learn that love is both give & take…it’s take two to make a marriage successful. Blessings to you all!!

I really hate how people have to practically force her to see the good in him. She's incapable of seeing any of that on her own. That's the theme with her throughout the entire drama, and it makes the love story beyond frustrating. There's not much good to say about it.
@@divinearia1601 she’s still a teenager. After being controlled her whole life, that’s the only only thing she’s learned about relationships; control. Even the first thing her mother did is control her once she gets back. That’s why she went on in relationship with Yao cause he was easy to control. She’s still a teenager so she doesn’t know true meaning of love. Thankfully her family and friend are here now to guide her judgment. She’s not perfect and will learn through her mistake just like Zhaojun did. Going through Biyu Ling’s true affection wasn’t setting up with her view of perfect life but thankfully the conversation with her mother made her realise that she’s wrong cause she knows that her mother is like her, if even her mother is saying that she was wrong in this aspect then she sure was wrong so she set down and rethink all her decisions.

If she doesn't know any better than an ignorant teen then she shouldn't be running around doing whatever she pleases. She should be listening to people who know better. I do not expect her to be perfect, but the reason I cannot stand her is she never learns and she actually _refuses to change,_ expecting people to accept her as she is. At the same time, good lord, she has standards and expectations for everyone else. She's like this from beginning to end.
They have to teach her in EP27 here to recognize LBY's love for her, then just when you think she has taken the things they taught her to heart, as soon as any trouble comes up, it's back to chasticizing LBY, blaming him, and complaining about him. She's accusing him of controlling her just for asking her not to get involved with his politics and advising her about the rippling consequences her actions might cause him. How is he controlling her when she's running around doing whatever she pleases, arguing with LBY who actually knows more about politics, and stirring up all kinds of BS? Qiqi had to teach her to properly weigh the good vs the bad in LBY...and then, again, just when you pray she has _finally_ figured out the good in him this time because she acknowledged LBY has been the one lowering himself for her all along, she's right back to victimizing herself, blaming her own actions on him, and crying about her childhood insecurities. Sorry, she is the worst. LBY is a good guy but I have no clue what he sees in her. The bad outweighs any good in her...thus, the crappy result of their relationship, and LBY getting punished for 5 years by "her royal highness" Shao Shang, and having to shoulder all the blame in the end. There is nothing healthy or beautiful about this kind of a relationship

The last bit where Shaoshang realizes she likes Ling Buyi has to be one of the most heartwarming scenes in this show. The soundtrack is amazing!
It's really commendable the way writers didn't show quick improvement in Niao Niao instead showing rapid growth of her character.

Это её совсем не оправдывает, наоборот, говорит о сознательно жестоком отношении к Лин Буи. Мать это сразу поняла и на себе испытала эту жестокость.
Как много с ней они " повозились", она в своём эгоизме не изменилась.
Насколько она женственная и красива, настолько она жестокосердна. Это надо Лин Буи?

Ну это все можно простить. Но самое главное отвратительно то что она не захотела понять его месть, так как он предпочёл её свадьбе. Обвинила, что называется, во всех грехах и осталась белой и пушистой? Она как будто поняла что он выгорел весь и вряд ли найдёт ей замену и поэтому спокойно жила с королевой, гордо уеденившись. Так что они остались вместе. Все окружавшие её девушки. Лучше ее: и сестра, и служанка и подруга Ци Ци.

This is the first conversation with her mom that she actually talks TO SS and not at her. This was fabulous. I really like SS maid this girl is so good, she tells it like it is. Our poor General is trying and she hurt him, I felt bad for him. She finally realizes all he did and everything he said to was sincere. Those Python shoes and look on face priceless. She only slept well in his arms and he stayed up all night with her. Aww 🥰💞
I was thinking the SAME THING, @Virginia Chase! Both her parents were honest & straight-forward with her, yet supportive & loving. I was cheering for them at the end of the episode. FINALLY!! 🤩💗
And the snake skin shoes and him cleaning up when she vomited and holding her all night to help her sleep.. WOW, what's not to love about him. And the fact that he acknowledges that he's not perfect and wants to change is quite admirable. Heck, if my ex had admitted he wasn't perfect, we'd still be married. And him just wanting to be part of her family because of not having one growing up is SO ENDEARING. 🥲😍

Yes!!! This is exactly what I came here for!!! She showed signs of being a good mom who loved her kid here. The relationship broke at the palace during the betrothal. And since then, her mom had to take every step back and reevaluate. Part of its because she's exhausted and realizing the damage she's caused, the her method of controlling abusive parenting isn't working. And doesn't know what to do.... So she tried to pull back and actually TALK TO SS like she's a person, like she's maybe even her kid. Which is absolutely wild. And really builds the foundation for repairing their relationship in the future! Like I can see that it's not hopeless in that moment.

Idk where in this episode you saw him bullying them, In this episode I saw him trying his best to become part of the family even if his methods weren't the best. As we all know he was raised practically alone, on the battlefield and has lived for revenge all of his life for his dead family.

And this was the main reason for her dissatisfaction from the beginning of this relationship. However , she later loved him. So what, its just a drama and u guys are unreasonably favouring ling bui too much. I think they both have good and bad sides of their character. Its better to understand both.

Kudo’s to the screenwriters, the humor and seriousness is really funny. The actors are so perfect for their parts. I would imagine many of us will watch this a few times. Best scene is the dinner scene when LB was trying his best to be humerous, Poor guy. Lol

The scenes of her brothers are iconic 😂 first them discussing with each other about the change in behaviour of their mother and sister to the one brother getting the strength to hold up the rock cause Buyi Ling praised him to the another brother saying it’s Niao Niao’s fault for being beautiful to attract Buyi Ling into their family and making their life hell 😂 honestly I feel for Niao Niao in her frustration with Buyi Ling and also angry at her for being unreasonable but both her and Buyi Ling’s characters are complex. They’ve both suffered in their own ways and both are trying to blend in their own ways but feels conflicted because they both feel they’re not being accepted for who they are so their way of approach seems wrong to the other. I hope by next episode the misunderstanding is cleared.
For the first time I like what Shaoshang's mom said ... She finally realized he is her Mr. Right. The ending is a beautiful reflection and beginning of their new relationship. Look forward to part II. 😊😊😊
This is one of the best and my favorite episode in the drama so far, IMHO. So much is packed into it! Emotionally riveting and so over the top funny! Script is superb!

When Shaoshang was looking back at the things Buyi did for her, even I forgot how much he does for her, and these are just the things she is aware of. She has to let go her stubborn attitude, just because she knows he likes her. I understand that both of them are not cruising chartered territories because neither had done this before and I know there will be more misunderstandings and obstacles between them, just because both have inner demons to get over with. As long as they straighten these issues out, before they get married and live together, they will have a peaceful and happy marriage.

The thing is Yao showed his love to Niaoniao and was willing to do everything, Yao was ready to offer her a sweet and peaceful love , but I think at the end he would probably get tired of her free life that she wants so much, not wanting to compromise or accept others advice, I like that she’s not letting others controlling her but sometimes she’s Indeed being too much and selfish, she’s actually the most lucky girl in the whole drama but she drags everything towards her like she’s the only unlucky girl, when in fact she can speak for herself and go against her mother thing that Yangyang can’t do imagine how stressful it is for Yangyang.
Agreed. IMO, LBY isn't even controlling towards her. He's just used to giving out orders first before asking because it's the lifestyle he's used to. If she talked to him and if he continued to force his ways upon her, it'd be a different story. 95% of the time, he just gives in to whatever she wants anyway because he loves her. She refuses to communicate with him like a proper adult and just exaggerates and throws tantrums, complaining and whining about being "controlled". He even ASKED her to communicate with him so he can better understand her and she just shuts him out. The real issue here isn't him. It's HER doing her best to be difficult because she never wanted to marry him in the first place. Moral of the story for the viewers is to make sure you find someone who loves you, someone who will put in the effort because they want to be with you. LBY could have any other woman in the kingdom and, yet, he wants the _one_ person who doesn't want him. This is so sad. I hate the way she treats him despite his efforts and his sincerity. Hated the way she treated Yao too, tbh, and how she basically wanted to marry him because he was naive and so easy for her to boss around. At one point, QiQi even told her that Yao was basically just her maid.
He tries very hard to protect her because he knows what consequences can come from certain behaviors. She doesn’t learn very quickly about the rules and that she could get her entire family killed. Even though she is only 15 at this point, she should listen a little more to others. What I don’t like about him is his keeping his true identity from her. Once he decided to marry her, she becomes a part of it all.
Each time i remember that there will be an upload of this drama each day...i feel soo happy😊...but then again waiting for the whole weekend without watching this drama make my weekend boring...

Why is no one talking about song's and qiqi's kiss in the carriage?
Wow mom stepped it up towards the end of this episode, she was kind and supportive.
She was well-balanced in being honest and calling Shao Shang out on getting spoiled by Ling Buyi's love and not being exemplary for going back on her agreement to the engagement but, yes, she said she would support Shao Shang's decision no matter what she decided. She did all of that in a calm manner and guided her rather than the usual forceful, harsh criticisms.
On the other hand, when she was drunk, Shao Shang said she was restless and annoyed when her mother was keeping an eye on her but is feeling empty and insecure when her mother doesn't care. She also said that she used to think her mother's method was scary but it was actually nothing when compared to Ling Buyi. Maybe she's learning to appreciate her mother a little. Good to see mother and daughter taking steps to better understanding one another.
I think the mother have supported her everytime Niao broke down. In the Past engagement too but Niao is too head strong go on her own. Hardly she sit down to talk not her fault that she can't trust them

By now I've watched this series through several times because it's so good, every time I watch this part of this episode, I LOL, and that's not something I do normally.
I've rewatched the conversation NiaoNiao has with her parents, they should have had a similar conversation when they first came back, especially the mother, the relationship would have been so much smoother. ..but that would be a different story

A great conclusion to Part 1 of the series with a look back on their moments together. I'm also glad that the mom didn't rush to criticize her for being rash but explained to her gently to think it over carefully, gave her perspectives to consider, and affirm that she and her dad value her happiness above all.

So many emotions....I had food coming out of my nose from laughing too hard at the beginning of the episode and tears falling from heartbreak two third of the episode when she said mean things to General LBY and..happiness when she had heart to heart talk with her parents and her mom called out that she took advantage of General LBY's love for her...and again more tears falling when she decided to be with him after she recalled his confirmation that she's the one and only for him...❤😍❤
