  • You ever work on your car and mess up so bad, you question life choices? Yup, I've been there too many times!
In this video, I (again) fix a mistake made by someone else, this particular failure is with the valve cover. not just the gasket but the golf ball sized hole melted into it.
Of course the N54 sprayed oil all over the engine bay that'll take ages to clean up, did the single turbo swap on this BMW cause the failure? Not directly, but it helped contribute towards it.
Stay tuned and see what went wrong and how we fix it!

Great job guys! Thank you for the hard work in bringing this to us. It takes twice or more time to do the work when videoing it.

Even on a bare longblock on the stand the injectors will hook the valve cover from coming off

Also the rear dowl is hard to get on with it on the stand too I removed the cover multiple times but also used way less silicon only in the spots it needed it

Hey my fellow Calgarians! I have up graded twins so I guess I'm not having to worry about this. But the car looks like a monster! Do you guys run E85 in your N54's? I have mine set up for up to E50 but I haven't tried it yet. I've only just gotten my Custom tune about three months ago. But I'm going to go get some E85 from the one station I can find in our city and give it a shot. Subbed! . To get the third bolt off of the HPIP the best tool is a long Hex or Alan with a ball end. I bought a set from good ol Can Tire for $20 that have served me well with my N54 journey. Just want to be helpful. Thanks for the gasket maker trick on the Valve cover gasket.

I haven't run any e85 in my N54 but out black e92 runs full e85 during the summer. I've been using methanol with great success, just deciding what to do with the 135i when I finish it. if I finish it.
you know, I have the exact bits you're speaking of, completely forgot I bought them until you just mentioned it. how ironic. lol
gasket maker works good, the zip tie at the back equally as good!

@@tony.nextlevelrides I'm noticing some oil starting to pool in the rear area of the middle of the valve valley..I replaced the Valve cover about 8 months ago but haven't rechecked the torque on the bolts since. I'm pretty sure that will do the trick. (I hope LOL). The Zip tie trick is something I could have used 8 months ago LOL. (Is there anything zip ties can't do?

I'm lead to believe with ductape and zip ties, you could fix almost anything!

I was screwing with him, it's a real word just the wrong one to use then and there.
