  • In this fly tying tutorial, Lance ties one of his most effective caddis dry flies. Make sure to treat it with something like Loon Lochsa so the CDC will still float.

    Of all the fly tying videos I’ve watched, you have to be one of the most skilled by far. Pleasure to watch.

    Really cool fly Lance. It’s very productive for me. One quick suggestion is to simply leave the tag long when you tie off obviating the need to throw loop and cut it. Cuts a few seconds off the tie.

    What great looking, buggy fish food. Love it! Can't wait to fish it.

    I catch so many fish on this pattern! It has never failed me. You can have the most finicky fish and this one gets them everytime. I tie it in a 14 down to an 18. This is my favorite cdc cadis pattern out there!

      Do you apply any type of floatant to this pattern?

    Just tied a few of these up in #16 they look amazing, cant wait to fish em; instead of paying for the petitjean kit which is like 40 bucks, I got a 50 cent clear 2" clip that works AMAZING for creating the cdc hackle.

      Sir Megalot can you explain?

    • @sirmegallot3276
      @sirmegallot3276 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nathankrussow7303 you just need to find a clear clip with 2" or 3" straight jaws. Then you'll splay the CDC fibers perpendicular to the feather stem and grip them all at once with the clip. After this you'll use straight scissors to trim the feathers from the stem while the clip grips them and keeps them oriented. Next you'll catch the fibers that are lined up in the clip with your dubbing loop and release the clip while they are caught in the tension of the dubbing loop; finally, twist your dubbing loop spinner until they make a CDC rope as usual.

    Really nice looking fly! Quick question, do you use a gel style flotant when fishing this fly? If so, will any type of flotant work or do you need a CDC specific one? Thanks!!!

    • @FlyFishFood
      @FlyFishFood  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Noah Booth you need a CDC compatible floatant. Loon Lochsa and TMC Dry Magic are both really good. You can also use a powder floatant.

    Awesome caddis! ...would you use liquid floatant for this one ? Or just start with powder ! Thanks

    Question: instead of the dubbing loop, could I just tie in the CDC by the tips and Palmer it forward? I don’t dislike dubbing loops I just don’t have clips😂

    Thanks Lance. Two questions. First, do you use the corn fed caddis in your dry / dropper setup? If so, what kind of droppers? Second, have you ever thought about using CDC for the body like Marc Petitjean? Thanks.

    • @Lanceeganflyfishing
      @Lanceeganflyfishing 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use it on a dry/dropper setup quite often. Droppers could be any patterns with a 2.8mm ting bead or smaller. I most commonly use a frenchie or thread frenchie dropper. Yes, I’ve tied corn fed caddis with cdc bodies. They work great.
