You're right. This is one song. Short, simple, heavy, kind of exotic verse and catchy chorus. A single. The interesting aspect of Babymetal is that every song is different. For a more complex and technical song, you can listen Road of Resistance. For a very well crafted blend of metal, traditional Japanese music and dance, pick Megitsune. Rondo of Nightmare offers an interesting rythmic work over a 3/4 pattern, dark melody and harmony. And with its intro you have solos of each musician. Many songs have wonderful guitar solos or duos (with scales, arpeggios, harmonics, tapping, whammy bar tricks), like: Ijime Dame Zettai or Akatsuki. Even the bass player has a chance to shine solo in Amore (give that guy some room and you will never forget him). The precision and cleanness of the drummer is mind blowing. Relentless double bass. Very musical. Or if you want to check how far they can go into the prog area, listen Tales of the Destinies (plus the ballad The One).

The band is incredible although one of their guitarists died last week .. the whole band is awesome, so sad that Mikio died at 36 leaving a wife and 2 daughters. Fist time I heard Babymetal was on the tonight show with Steven Colbert and they blew my mind .. then I checked out a lot of their and as a musician of over 40 years myself and a former lead vocalist as well I think the girls and the whole band are amazing .. check out Akatsuki live at Budakon .. the piano work behind most of their songs is incredible all in itself but these 2 guitar players , Boh the bass player and drummer are tight as it gets and amazing musicians. My favorite song by them is No Rain, No Rainbow. It will be interesting to see where they go from here.. they are already huge all over the world.

Just go see them live , you will never forget it. Karate is just a good old beast of a rock song(kornish in style) they have songs that just can blow you away , I see a few wicked songs mentioned in the comments , For me it is IDZ at Sonisphere 2014 , that was their coming out party and the whole world knew who Babymetal was after that performance. I saw them here in Little Rock in April 2017, it was only their short set for opening up but it is just as unforgettable, I saw a man I was talking to before the concert from Dallas Texas, 6 hours to come see them , he said " a half hour of Babymetal is just not enough".

Subscribing for more Babymetal reactions. Glad you liked them, but this is their most radio friendly song in their discography. Try Sis Anger for a more hardcore death metal type sound. Road of Resistance for a Dragonforce sound. Gimme Chocolate for Thrash metal. Onidari Daisakusen for a Nu metal tribute to Limp Bizkit, Yava for Ska metal, Meta Taro for Folk or Viking metal. The others will correct me if I'm wrong. (EDIT: Correction it was 2016. 2014 was Sonisphere, so 18/17/16...right was in June so Moa 16 still. Thx X1xone!) I agree with MetalNCarnate below to check Road of Resistance next. Their Japan lives are huge productions, especially Tokyo Dome which seats 55k (and sells out might I add). All the flames, lasers, and lights you can stand. Even a "crucifixion scene" during the song "Death". Large venue or small, they always deliver the goods at 110%. Be aware though that there is a "story line" behind Babymetal. A bit like a metal anime or maybe a "metal opera". Keeping this in mind will help you in those moments of confusion you may face as you dive deeper down the "Fox hole" (refers to their worship of Shinto religion and the Fox God or Kitsune-sama).

BabyMwetal have many different sides to them. There is the pop metal side, from when they were much younger and there are some official music videos. EG: Doki Doki Morning. Give Me Chocolate. Many people see these first and immediately wrote them off as a all be it good, but a manufactured band. Later on in their progression they added a band with musicians who play. The earlier live performances had the skeleton band, who mimed playing. None the less, there are some good songs and spectacular shows from this period. The later period up to the present day, the songs are 'heavier' and not so pop orientated. If you react to more of their videos, look for the 'live' suggested videos and be warned: Copyright issues and the resulting blocked videos are a unfortunate reality with TH-cam. The way around this is to place a link to the video you are watching, and mute the audio of the video you are reacting to. They had three people on guitars, RIP Mikio Fujioka. Leda and the other dude whose name I forget (uses the pink guitar he calls "Pinky") are still with them. These guys are world class honestly. They're like the Japanese Metal All-stars. Leda's riffs outside of Babymetal shred af imo.

Subscribing for more Babymetal reactions. Glad you liked them, but this is their most radio friendly song in their discography. Try Sis Anger for a more hardcore death metal type sound. Road of Resistance for a Dragonforce sound. Gimme Chocolate for Thrash metal. Onidari Daisakusen for a Nu metal tribute to Limp Bizkit, Yava for Ska metal, Meta Taro for Folk or Viking metal. Every single song is different. You'll never get bored.

I agree with MetalNCarnate below to check Road of Resistance next. Their Japan lives are huge productions, especially Tokyo Dome which seats 55k (and sells out might I add). All the flames, lasers, and lights you can stand. Even a "crucifixion scene" during the song "Death". Large venue or small, they always deliver the goods at 110%.
Be aware though that there is a "story line" behind Babymetal. A bit like a metal anime or maybe a "metal opera". Keeping this in mind will help you in those moments of confusion you may face as you dive deeper down the "Fox hole" (refers to their worship of Shinto religion and the Fox God or Kitsune-sama).
At the time of this show in 2016, the lead singer was 18 and the other two just turned/or soon were turning 17.

Ok DiffOP, what the hell do you guys got me watching?? At first I thought, this is gonna be horrible, but the band actually laid down some pretty badass riffs in there. Good on you for giving this a try, I really thought this was gonna be a bad gimmick.

It's kind of strange how far they've come, their second album hit the billboard album top 40, highest of any Japanese album in over 50 years.
You are right, this not a complex song in terms of instrumentation, but this is only the single of their last album, just for reach the taste of every listener of their music. They have more complex and heavy songs, and they explore so many metal subgenres like death metal, black metal, nu metal, folk metal, trancecore and trash metal. Not for nothing they are playing at heavy metal festivals on the same stage as other bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden or Slayer for the same audience. Even the main singer sang Painkiller with Rob Halford on stage.

BabyMwetal have many different sides to them. There is the pop metal side, from when they were much younger and there are some official music videos. EG: Doki Doki Morning. Give Me Chocolate. Many people see these first and immediately wrote them off as a all be it good, but a manufactured band. Later on in their progression they added a band with musicians who play. The earlier live performances had the skeleton band, who mimed playing. None the less, there are some good songs and spectacular shows from this period. The later period up to the present day, the songs are 'heavier' and not so pop orientated.
If you react to more of their videos, look for the 'live' suggested videos and be warned: Copyright issues and the resulting blocked videos are a unfortunate reality with TH-cam. The way around this is to place a link to the video you are watching, and mute the audio of the video you are reacting to. We open a second window for the linked video, then we can watch and hear your comments on the first window, while hearing and watching the video in the second window. Oh Difference of Opinion , oh Baby Metal does flamethrowers very very well :) the Official road of resistance concert video ( you may or may not have to do a muting. sorry) , The shows from past years Red Night / Black night tokyo dome , Oh yeah Ya gotta get in Doki Doki Morning :) the original MV version.. If I am not mistaken , it was their first ever music video back in 2010 I may be off a year But I believe the lead singer Su-Metal was 13 adn the side singers, Yui-metal and Moa-metal were both 11?? Very cool review. BUT BE AWARE, the company that deals with all BabyMetal videos loves handing out strikes so be careful! I got my first strike for Road of Resistance live in Japan. It's unfortunate but the strike is almost certainly coming. I've been told to just share the link to the video you're reacting to and countdown your start of the video.
