    Dear SN ,
All your narrative on Ashok Chauvhan may be true, but one simple question is if he has a little bit of loyalty to the policies that made him choose the Congress then he would've quit and even form his own party or as independent candidate fight in assembly elections but ditching congress in the crucial time is pure evil, Shameless act people won't forgive him. If he's not happy with party let him retire and give way to youth but how come he can join a party that's having straight hopposite ideology, did he ever thought about the people who supported him for his ideology or party affiliation. Ruthless, Shameless, greedy fellows , backstabbers, cut throats ,let him go to he'll.

The present situation is that congress is facing leadership crisis. There seems to be no ‘clean' and able leader. Anybody outside the family is not acceptable to the mother, who is the practical owner. She cannot trust anybody, other than her son, who proved to be ineffective. He has not displayed any leadership qualities. Now that he stepped down, gives a message to the cadres that congress is becoming irrelevant. The cadres do not find any scope in being in congress and they want to try their luck with BJP.

Happy he is gone. He once got CM seat and all the due respect and positions subsequently. In bad times, he never was seen as a leader who took in charge. Yet time to time blamed HC for not supporting him. This is why Delhi kept looking other options like Patole, Thorat and Rane. Frankly, S Shinde and P Chauvan can also quit and it won’t make any difference to INC. They do nothing more than being a pravakta on TV. Had the BJY not gone through Maharashtra, INC would be reduced to nothing.
What INC needs is a leadership and energy like DK and Revanth in Maharashtra. Hein koi mai ka lal?

Good editorial. There is a problem with Indian politics. There is hardly anything called ideology. In the good old past when Congress was in the heydays of its power there were wholesale shifting of loyalties, just to have the cake of power. Congress is the party of Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel and a whole lot of other leaders, for whom it was not just freedom from foreign rule but the transformation of the Indian mind immersed in most opprressiive feudal values. Ashok Chavan, a former Chief Minister of Maharashtra has joined BJP. If the reason for leaving the party was his sidelining in the party, then it is a sad commentary on the state of affairs of the Congress party. However Mr. Chavan and those Congress men who are in the que to leave Congress are expected to introspect over the need to have a healthy polity in the country , which can only happen if the Congress is syrengthened.

The good Congress leaders are leaving the party because
Congress is not providing opportunities to meritorious ones to prosper in the party.
Congress considers failures of Rahul in election a boon and promoting him whenever he fails.
When Rahul with his lies on Rafale took the party to its ignominious defeat in 2019, the party considers the defeat a collective responsibility.
When the party lose in Karnataka it is because of Siddaramiah or when it loses in Delhi it is because of Ajay Maken. Leaders are frustrated and humiliated.
Congress has been losing clout among the public. Also falling out of favor with the public.
The party itself have vanished in most of the states. Leaders who are with the party find there is no use staying in the party in all those states.

Very very good analysis Mr. Nair. The present Congress party's woes started under the Presidentship of Sonia Gandhi who does not have political acumen leave alone understanding Indian politics. Their HR department has turned out to be worse under her leadership. Later she handed over the job to her son and daughter to some extent. Remember the brother/sister fiasco during Punjab assembly elections, when the CM Amar Singh was ignored and a joker and former cricketer Navjyot Siddhu was pushed ahead of him? Result - Punjab went out of Congress' fold. Same thing happened with Rajasthan and MP where young faces like Sachin Pilot, Jyotiradotya Schindhia were ignored and old faces Kamalnath, Ashok Gehlot were given prominence. Similarly the Congress Presidentship was given to Mallikarjun Kharge (instead of Shashi Tharoor) who thinks that asking few questions in the parliament is his only job. One is not sure whether he holds any clout in the party or not because even after more than a year of his selection for the top job, there is no tangible change visible in the party.

Therefore, the logic is not really true. One should understand today Congress is having set back for whatever reasons. Setback is not permanent. One party loses one time and come back another time. What is pertinent is every one to bear the loss when occurs and stand with it rather than joining some other party which was not acceptable till now.

Sadly, Congress Central leadership is selfishly guarding the power pin with the help of control on Congress funds , nominated leaders ,in and around, the capital and disregarding leaders with popular support. Rahul is no match to any Chief minister material! But paid journalists and corrupt leaders are in support, As a citizen we need an opposition with pan India appeal. The solution is Congress leadership must be led by elected leaders and not by nominated family comments.

    Dont you know news
He has gone with bLessings of 10 JP and he anyways wanted ticket for his daughter in LS.
Even today Thorat said he will comeback at Vilasrao Deshmukh Statue Inauguration where all MHPCC, MPCC ,Sharad NCP was present.
Interestingly Riteish Deshmukh and both his MLA Bros(ofc their father) were there.
Thorat-Deshmukh was one camp vs Chavan-Vikhe(both gone for now)
Earlier Shankarrao never got along with Sharad Pawar.

First point, Nobody address the shortcomings, the biggest lack in Congress and also its similarities with BJP. Every other critique of Modi government when talks about present day governance it tries to replace Congress with them even though Congress have been doing things in similar lines of BJP but in a twisted fashion. Good you have spoken about it. I feel even Jyotiraditya leaving Congress was also the same reason. We can see what has happened now in MP. If running after power is a crime then should it not be applied to Gandhis. They want all the power. Why party does not get freedom from them. Second point why is that everyone who is unhappy with Congress to be precise Gandhis end up only with in BJP as if there is not other options available. Leave deora you said chavan joined bjp knowing fully that his political career is not going to go high, so how does it make difference. He could have joined Shiv sena, he could have joined NCP or he could have gone solo just the way others have done in the past. Why every politician's journey after Congress ends up in BJP these days.

What a bulls₹₹T editorial, the guy whose father was longest serving Chief Minister who had clout and wealth and the son also became CM and only father son duo to do so, still had to make money in Adarsh Scam at cost of defence land, then what quality he has to be in any party. Forget PCC President he is not fit for even Panchayat president. Ethical journalism also requires people to talk about ethics and honesty and probity in public life, what value it is to people if Chavan with his financial clout was able to poach people from Sena and tried to give tickets, what has been one single contribution of this guy which the people of the State have benefited from or has done for the good of the people. Farmer suicides, terrorist attcks were the norm in his period and he was busy making money in land deals. Does the editorial team have any obligation to inform people about facts and cases affecting them or is it the persona or floating audio clips which makes news. Please revisit your journalism as to for whom and what it is for?
