The lyrics, as confirmed: "have you settled to shoot me? Or have you picked your target yet"
      Life affirmed.

Can you send me a link to where Mulcahey confirmed it? I know that that line is the speculative lyric because it makes the most sense in context, but as far as I know Mark did not confirm it when I was researching. Would love to have that on hand.

PushingUpRoses welp. I may have unintentionally lied. I pulled out my DVD, just to be sure, and turned subtitles on. It simply reads "Hey Sandy plays". I restarted it with DVD subtitles on and my tv's subtitles on and it reads the lyric I provided. Sorry sorry. My tv is NOT a reliable source.

It’s “Can you settle to shoot me.” not “Can you settle a sure bet” and it’s ‘Don’t you talk back.’ Not ‘well does your dog bite"
It’s about a woman who was killed at the Kent State Massacre.

There's this episode where Little Pete takes a sick day from school in between the stretch of school where there are no holidays and he watches the dust in the sunlight as something you only see on days you take off. I'm 34 and still still think of that every morning while I have coffee and don't want to go to work and would rather sit watching dust dance in the morning sunlight. Also, don't eat metal.

My favorite episode was "Inspector 34," in which Young Pete becomes obsessed with meeting his "guardian angel," an underwear inspector, and through him becomes obsessed with getting everything perfect. How can you not love a show where that's an actual episode description?

That was the one and only episode of Pete & Pete I as actually allowed to watch. My mom was out of town and I asked my dad to watch it with me so we could figure out why she wouldn't let me watch it. He loved it, and then had to explain that there really are underwear inspectors. 20 years later and I still look at the little inspector sticker.

I remember an episode where Mom and Dad are away by themselves, and somehow someone buys the house? Takes the house? And Pete and Pete try to appeal to them by explaining how the house is filled with memories and say "Look, those were Pete's first steps!" ... and point to a set of baby footprints on the ceiling. If you had been an adult at the time that episode aired, you would have realized that the wife in the couple that bought the house from Little Pete was none other than Patty Hearst. You have no idea how mind-blowing that was! And, yes, I remember well Little Pete’s first steps and often use that example of the absurdist humor when describing the show to others. I also like to mention the scene where Little Pete is digging the tunnel with a Statue of Liberty after he’s grounded on the 4th of July, when he finds a buried wallet, opens it up and says “Hoffa!” before removing the cash and tossing it over his shoulder. Genius!

One of the greatest experiences of my life was getting to be on an episode of Pete and Pete!!! The last season was filmed in my home town and they were looking for extras... I was a kid who obviously had no acting experience but I decided to try out anyway, along with hundreds of other kids... And I got lucky! The episode was Last Laugh. I was in the audience during the school assembly scene when Adam West got completely covered with creamed corn!!! One of the best moments of my life :) When scenes werent being filmed we got to spend the time with the cast, it was so surreal hanging out with Pete, Nona, adam west and everyone else in the show (minus big Pete and the parents)
I was able to meet the whole cast a lot during the months of filming in my town... Also got to see them film scenes as well. But one of the coolest things was that the house they used in the show was being sold at the time and my father was the realtor... So I was able to spend a lot of time at the house and just hang out in Pete and Pete's room. I could go on and on with random Pete and Pete stories from that summer.
I hope Im not coming off as bragging! It's not something I bring up to people much and haven't thought about it in years. I hold this show and all my experiences with it very close to my heart... Pete and Pete was one of my favorite shows I watched when I was a kid... Definitely in the top 3!

The Artie departure arc in particular. At the same time, the true focus isn't simply on loss, but on a clear call to action: Enjoy all this while you can!

I think the single episode that has stuck with me the strongest was the one where they were trying to break the world record for staying awake the longest. I just have such vivid memories of each one of them finally losing it and falling asleep.

This show is easily one of the highlights of my childhood. One of my favorites is when big Pete realized that he was having trouble having a conversation with his Dad and they were about to go on a long drive together. His friends made him que cards but in the end he came to terms that silence with his Dad wasn't a completely bad thing. No other show for kids ever touched on this and I could relate to what was happening in the episode.

One of my all time favourite episodes is when Lil Pete's lucky penny supposedly ran out of luck and Stu of all people tells him he can recharge it by leaving it on a train track and have a train run over it, this led to an epic Lord of the Rings esque adventure where Pete wanted to remove the penny out of fear it would derail the train, and Pit-stain with other two cronies wanted to stop pete cuz they wanted to see the trainwreck, it was so amazing.
This entire show is burned into my mind, Nickelodeon Latin America re-ran this show so much, I remember some of their best episodes from memory, I always wondered if the band playing the intro and the song that inspires Lil Pete to try and remember it for himself with his own band was an actual band, so thanks Roses! Now I got a big musical adventure ahead of me! :D

“A Hard Day’s Pete” has always been my favorite episode. I love how, unlike most shows, which would have Pete start a band with a bunch of neighborhood kids, this one has his band include some adults- even his damn math teacher! I also loved the rare chance of getting to see Syd Straw show off her singing abilities, plus the surprise inclusion of Marshall Crenshaw (who plays an electric sitar of all things!). And the fact that they chose “Summerbaby- I Was Around” - a song that doesn’t really have any particularly significant meaning for him but just plain sounds really cool- is part of the wonderful randomness that made this show the special thing that it was. And the fact that Pete’s guitar is a Krebstar Eviscerator is just perfect.
“What We Did On Our Summer Vacation” would definitely my second favorite. It was the first Pete and Pete thing I saw other than the shorts, and it’s what really got me into the whole thing. There just so much to like about it, and Michael Stipe doing that arm swirl around his head when he mentions Mr. Tastee will never get old (I wonder if he improvised that).

yeah this one really stuck with me too, the whole sound track is great, but I've listened to it so much now it's a little weird when the instrumental versions show up in the show. Found out recently Mark Mulcahey's and Frank Black's bands had quite a few overlapping members, kind of makes sense, but they both have such huge catalogs I'd hardly know what to recommend first.

It was so great. And the best part was sharing it with family. Growing up in a californian family in the fucking midwest, I felt really isolated, and it was great seeing all these oddballs on TV reminding me that silly people like my family are the best.
Most other kids I knew only watched sports. I guess they also liked seeing people like themselves. I ended up really identifying with Animaniacs type characters, who annoy all the squares with their far-out antics but always come out on top even though everyone just wants them to go away. Seeing the systematic destruction of humor in the modern day, I feel like we need this kind of relatable silliness more than ever.

They asked him if he’d play a TV show theme song he liked (since he’d done a TV show theme song himself), a children’s song he liked (since he was raising a young daughter), and a holiday song (since it was late December), and he turned out damn near perfect renditions of the theme from Maude, a Raffi song, and Auld Lang Syne (which included every verse, not just the commonly-sung first one) right on the spot.

Sometimes I try to watch some of the live action shows from Nickelodeon during my childhood, and most of them simply don't hold up (through the eyes of an adult, of course). That 90's humor is so dated. However, THIS show is one I still love to this very day. It's probably even funnier to me now as an adult than when I was a kid. A true testament to its legacy.
