Congratulations with the drum 👏🏻 I often watch your videos to help me fall asleep, as you have such a lovely gentle presence 💙 So even though I've watched this video several times, I'd fallen asleep before I go to the best part! The pitch does depend on the beater (the density of the material, etc.), but if the drum is made of animal hide, then the pitch depends more on the environmental conditions. It's normal, at least in my parts of the world, to tune the drum by heating it. Holding it close to a campfire, over the stovetop, using a hairdryer, there's many options. The heat will make moisture evaporate from the hide, which tightens it and changes the pitch. It might feel tight as is, but it can probably get tighter. You can also purposefully change the pitch by adding moisture; it loosens the hide and lowers the pitch. I bought my own drum only earlier this summer, and it sounded great in the "store" -- which was a gigantic lavvu heated by a constant fire on the top of a mountain, and I drummed gently as I didn't want to draw attention to myself. Got home, environment changed and so did the hide, I wasn't in a social setting anymore, and noticed that there is a very dominant rattle or ringing coming from the frame itself. No tuning really helps. So that was a bummer, but it did prompt a lot of internet research and I did learn a lot 🥰 And even though the chamber dissonance or whatever the f is going on is always there, I can still hear how the pitch changes with the addition of heat and/or moisture, which is pretty fun 😄

Hi Sandra thank you for your video I went to Glastonbury today first time. I took your advice and got my bay leaves in the sons of Asgard and they were so friendly I ended up making one of their show gels and face oils. I also go their hawthorn incense who knew it smelt so nice. I now just want to get my ruins but the Midgard was closed.

WOW! What a megahaul! I absolutely love the Forest Fae and look forward to your review. I don't buy oracle deck anymore, but the style of illustrations and the toadstool patterned backs--you know I just had to have it in my collection. Be careful not to overdo the incense burning and keep your rooms well ventilated. I'm looking into connections between incense and lung diseases. Absolutely love the drum. I believe very strongly in sound healing as well as shamanic drumming and soul journeying. I'm wishing you can come to NYC next fall with Simon. By the way, Amy went to art school here with a friend of mine and he has one of her original paintings on his wall.
I know it was a lot Robin, I had been saving for it it’s not something I could just do. I can just see you with the Forest Fae deck, I know I am going to love it. I didn’t think about incense and lung disease, I do always keep windows open when I burn incense and I only do one stick at a time. I think you would have loved The Sound Healer shop where I got the drum, they had lots of instruments, I am sure I saw Lyres I would love to be able to play one of those. I don’t think I would be able to come to NYC with Simon lol I am sure it would be something he would want to do on his own. However, it would have been lovely to meet you.
