- After shopping with $100 at 10 stores, I'm doing the $100 outfit challenge to see what 100 dollars gets you at walmart vs target. I went inside the dressing room to try on clothing at walmart and target, and put together an outfit for my size 12 body for $100!

The Walmart outfit won hands down. I hate to say it, but those Target jeans were highly unflattering. The Walmart outfit gives you a beautiful hourglass shape and highly accentuates your curves in a good way unlike the Target one.

I only know the stores by name (not from us and never been there) so I have no idea who shops where, prizes and prejudice and such; But the Walmart clothes deffinitly were more flatering. And 20 dollars is a lot! Saving that on every outfit really makes a difference. But I guess if you have a surtain style, you want to keep that and not work extra hard to find something similair for cheaper prizes. Then again I do like how she mentions not everyone having the budget to choose ; shopping time vs more expensive clothing. Overall shows it's based on ; First Money I think? And then if you have the luxurie you can go to Target if that's your style. Personnaly I get that Target seems more stylish (atleast the items she showed) but I would like some collor in my outfit and really prefer the normal walmart jeans over all those lose, wild bottems.

Personally, all the Walmart stuff you showed us you tried on in the dressing room including final outfit look more flattering and stylish than the Target outfit. The proportions worked well and looked cuter. I adore Target, but Walmart takes my vote on this one ^_^
I'm sure the quality of the Target outfit is better. However, I think the Wal-Mart outfit is way more flattering on you.

I agree! And it bugs me that shes complaining about the sizing because she shopped in the juniors section. Odd numbers are for juniors and wouldn't really fit a curvy body as well as womens sizes.

The Walmart outfit was my favorite. The Walmart pants were very, very flattering on you. The Target pants remind me of the pants my grandma wore in the 90’s when I was little.
Typical issue of wearing what is 'in style' instead of looking at your own body ☺. I bought so many things over the years which I loved but just really didn't flatter my body at all, eventually I figured out it was a waist of money; I could look better then I did in regular clothes instead of some of those trendy items etc.
Thank you! I know trends/styles always come back around, but I find most of the trends out now are just like the worst of the 90s! LOL (I'm early 40s, so I remember well all these looks.) I even see TH-camrs demonstrating how to fold Jean's up, aka 'pegging' them. Yuck! Why!?😆

Walmart was 10x better. I feel like a lot of people have negative thoughts on their clothing. So they go in making fun of it from the start. The target outfit was so basic. But what do I know 🤷🏻♀️ ha.

I actually like the Walmart outfit better! I will say it is hard to find jeans at Walmart BUT they now carry a line of jeans by Sofia Vergara and they are amazing! The high waisted ones I love just as much as my good American ones. You for sure should try them!

Target has quality clothes, but the Walmart look was handsdown the winner here. The Target outfit to me was a little "mix & match". While the Walmart, look was very well put together. The Navy cover, the Navy jeans & the blues from the shirt really pulled the whole outfit together at the end. The Walmart jeans definitely flattered you more.
The Target outfit looked like laundry day. Not a good look for you. The darker rinse in the Walmart jeans looked better and accentuated your shape.

Agreed. I keep track of my sizes in different brands in my phone so it's easier to shop. And if I love something I add it to a list so I know to grab it if I see it on sale.

Sounds like you just can't look past the walmart name, you went in expecting not to find anything you liked because walmart is cheap. And everyone in the comments likes the walmart outfit more 🤔
I have never been to either one of those stores (I'm from Europe and don't have these) And without knowing those 'pregudice' things, I like the Mallmart outfit way better. Even looking at those prizes; wallmart for 40 (the basics jeans, tee and gardigan) and Target for 60 is a huge difference; The only reason not to pick the wallmart one is the style I guess. Because flatering? Nah uh. It really wasn't! It was just an outfit she was used to I think and the negative feeling of taking so long to shop after having multiple outfit options in target is something she clearly couldn't lett go while judging the two stores. I was pleasantly surprizes to hear her talk about the budget, that obviousely that can be an issue but if it's not blabla... Atleast she said that :) I can imagine 20 dollars on each outfit you buy is huge for so many in the US, just like it is for a lot of people everywhere!

Idk. I feel like you’re being a bit biased. I have worn both Walmart and Target and I don’t think there is a huge difference in quality.
A majority of my clothes are actually from Walmart and you would never be able to tell. I do have a few pieces from Target, but since they are more “trendy” pieces, I feel like they’re already out of style.
Walmart is a bit more basic and Target is trendier/fast fashion, so I understand the style opinion. I prefer the classic/basic style.

I've gotten 3 pair of high waisted jeans from Walmart and their $7.88 each. Their plain tank tops are $1.68. You just have to get plain staples and that's how you get good ones. Plain leggings, biker shorts, plain sweatshirts from the men's section

I just got 3 pairs of Levi and Strauss jeans from Walmart for $5 a piece on the clearance rack! They are high waisted and cropped at the ankle! Best find ever!

I totally agree with this, the jeans from Walmart totally flattered her body shape more. Then pairing it with a dark Navy blue cover, & the blues in the top really pulled the outfit together.

I agree. I am a sale-rack/thriftstore shopper almost exclusively. If my outfit cost $100, then it better be something extra and fabulous.

Tip for Target- if u don’t see your size-ask! They normally keep only a couple sizes out and they can easily scan and check to see if they have more in the back and will gladly go and get your size
Megan Semple I worked at target and if clothes are on a hanger than what they have out is all they have and the stuff that is folded on tables they may have more in the back. But it may be different at different targets.
Kyleigh Tena I worked at a target too, and it is more likely they have extras of anything folded but they also tended to have plenty of anything hanging- especially with the junior/women section they have so much they are trying to show off that anytime anything new came we only put out one of each size (and I’m sure things vary between stores but the newly remodeled ones seem to have an extra emphasis on looking neat so they will keep extras back stocked to help achieve that)
Yes! I work at Kohl's and I feel like customers may not think to ask for sizes, sometimes we do actually have them in the stockroom and are glad to check. Usually every size we have are on the floor but always ask! ♡
See this is why I love Old Navy... if they don’t have it, they’ll order it and ship it to you for free with whatever deal you can find. I have twins and buy two of everything. Finding two of everything can be rough in kids sizes.

Girl I love you and your style. I would definitely pick the Walmart outfit, suits your body better, the jeans definitely suited your shape. I think paper bag waist bottoms are ment more for girls trying to give an illusion of having bigger hips. I think the buttons on the jeans are pulling too much and I would have sized up even more to get that baggy top waist look.

Now you gotta do Ross, TJ MAXX and Marshall's! I love target clothes. It is way better than Walmart. I buy pj's from Walmart and their workout pants. But I always get lucky finding an outfit at TJ Maxx and Marshall's more than target and never spent more than like $50-$60.
Target has the BEST high-rise skinny jeans for a great price... they are always my go to and they last sooo long. On top of that they have so many styles/colors and make my body and butt look fantastic! The black highest rise skinny jeans by Mossimo will always be my favorite pair of jeans, even compared to higher priced, well made jeans in expensive stores.

This is a great idea! Also, a lot of brands (like Eddie Bauer, Kate Spade, and J. Crew) actually sell slightly different items (you can tell by the quality and style names) in regular vs. outlet stores. Would love to hear what you think!

I found the Walmart shirt unflattering as well. It seemed a size too small. And the pulled up corner, while a cute idea, wasn't flattering on her body shape. Again, my opinion too. I can't help but put my own tastes into it.

Still weird to me that people still have this bad or weird perception of Walmart clothing or fashion. 🤔 Yes, a lot of things there can be out of a lot of people's style taste but they get trendier things every season. I have been shopping at walmart for YEARS and it seems to just now becoming a TH-cam trend to do Walmart "challenges" when I shop there all the time, lolz, and even at that, a lot of the undertones in Walmart videos are like negative still. Like “SO SHOCKED” at what you can find at Walmart and it being "above mediocre" I don't know, to each their own. I have multiple clothing pieces from Walmart that have lasted me years and many wears as opposed to pricier Target clothing that I hardly wear or didn't last. I feel we have similar tastes and I find a lot at Walmart, maybe it was just your Walmart store. 🤷🏽♀️ I get compliments and questions all the time on my outfits and people are surprised when I tell them it’s Walmart! I like Target too definitely! But for me, Walmart for the win ;)
I shop at Walmart as well and I actually really like their stuff. Plus I save a crap load of money that I wouldn't if I shopped at Target. I just feel like people that shop at Target think they're better than others and so they don't like Walmart because it's more relaxed. I've never understood why you would want to pay extra money when you can get it cheaper elsewhere... unless the quality is better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe that's just poor people talk though to always be looking for a deal.. Totally agree with this comment thread. I 'choose' to shop at Walmart, for most things. Some of the clothes is junk (more like the trendy juniors stuff), but aside from that I almost always find decent pieces there that fit me perfectly and hold up. Their athletic wear is hands down the best for the price. I always get compliments on my clothes from there because I pair it with other, maybe better quality pieces or accessories. Target clothes has never fit me well and I've always found the quality subpar. But, that's why there are tons of different brands and stores...consumers like different things.
To be fair when I was a kid Walmart had horrible clothes and I think just around 4-5 years ago I went to Walmart and was actually shocked at their clothing section. It was like the first time I realized Walmart had nice clothes. I think it’s a pretty new thing for Walmart to be on trend so if someone who makes money on TH-cam shops higher end stores most of the time and doesn’t spend a lot of time at Walmart and goes to see what they have, they’d have that same shock
Many people are still biased from what they remember Walmart used to be before they changed their clothing for the better. Like you I had been a Walmart customer for more than 10 years and had seen the changes through the years. And definitely depends on the demographics of that particular Walmart for the variety of selection and how fashionable it is .

I 100% agree. Personally, I think the “paper bag” look on jeans is atrocious.. but that’s just my personal opinion. However, I feel like she could have certainly gotten a more flattering pair of jeans from Target.

I know this comment is supposed to be a compliment, but “slim” isn’t necessarily something that everyone is striving for anymore! Sierra is very open about being happy as a size 12 and the point of this video wasn’t exactly to see which store could make her “look slimmer.” Some people prioritize happiness over a size and I think it’s important that we begin to consciously change the compliments that we give to other women :)

You should do a blind clothes test where you try on a bunch of jeans and see if you can pick out which store they are from
For walmarts sake, you did shop at Walmart while they were in between seasons so all their good stuff from time and tru hasn't come out yet and you also had shopped primarily in the juniors section at Walmart so you are getting things primarily for girls in middle and high school. Also the fall line was really good at Walmart. I think u should try walmart again in another month or so bc at that point you will see a better selection for spring and summer. For walmart u have to shop when they are in season not in between. Other than that I do love target also. My closest target is 2 hours away

Exactly! The time and tru brand is the new brand that is the bridge gap between juniors and women's. Also Wal-Mart has definitely upped their clothes options for all sizes especially in the plus size department.

Wearing a darker color on your thicker parts of your body(like your Walmart outfit)made you look 10+ pounds thinner. The Walmart outfit looked better on your body shape, more tailored, where the Target outfit was cute & all, but looked very frumpy.🤷🏻♀️
Maybe she herself is more consiouse about her belly then her leggs? Idk just a thought. That could explain why she loved the Target one so much more while that was not flatering for her leggs at all, instead of the great wallmart one were her legs and thereby her waist too actually looked indeed way more slim. Ofcourse that doesn't have to be a goal with an outfit! But she mentioned 'flattering' herself so I assuem she does shop with that in mind aswel. Also I saw a different video with her and another lovely woman, and everytime they putt on the same outfit I thought it looked great on her and she& her friend didn't think so, and vise versa; litteraly everything I liked (fitting wise) they didn't like and the other way around.

We see ourself so different from how other people look at us, and we often let those insecurities lead. So we take things to wear that only cover that area even if it doesn't look to good on other parts of our body, simply because we focus on it so much. I felt it really explained how I constantly thought; Looks great on Sierra! And she went; I really don't like this.

Half my wardrobe is from Walmart and I always get compliments on my outfits 🤷🏼♀️ and I am the same size as her... I do agree shopping for jeans is pretty difficult because of the size range, but the prices are great and the quality isn’t that bad!
Especially when you don't make a shit ton of money and you have to choose between spending $100 on an outfit and spending $100 on a bill 😪😱

When doing these comparisons it would be great to list what materials they are made of. Natural fibres will generally cost more and can be more comfortable on your body.

This will sound funny, but I frequent my local Goodwill and have found some really cute summer pieces and shoes. I basically now have more “fun” and trendy things to wear than ever before. when you’re on a budget and know how to shop for your style, you make it work for your body type. (I’m a petite Asian shape.) I prefer shopping at Goodwill than say, Marshalls or TJ Maxx.

The reason you had issues with the jean sizing is you got Juniors. Juniors are always odd and Ladies even.
She doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that. And Ladies sizes are always cut more generously. In Juniors a 15 could be as small as 10 in Ladies on some brands at Walmart.
I love the look of the Wal-Mart outfit. IMHO it is more flattering and sophisticated looking. The target one seems a bit less flattering to me.
Please please do a haul on dresses from cheap websites like rosegal or even affordable dresses from Amazon.

Agreed, I have a basic pink cardigan from Walmart and its definitely one of my favorite pieces and I wear it basically all the time and its definitely super soft and cozy, especially for 15 dollars, I say it was a win
She likes clothes I would never think of wearing but I love her style it's super cute and feminine. I may try to switch up my style and be inspired to get out of my own comfort zone.

I’m so shocked and pleasantly surprised because it is different than your regular style but SUPER CUTE.
