I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Ezra Joe thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Indeed, the gimbal has long been DJI's biggest competitive advantage. The advantage is less prominent these days, but back 3-4 years ago - it was undoubtedly massive compared to its competitors.
@Peter Nado wtf u talkin bout geek. for many reasons cause ppl say the 249g weight of a mini cant handle wind.. so buddy here did a sick test and showed us it CAN.. what whent wrong here? idiot
Best Mini wind test on youtube, hands down! You covered every element, used it in risky place, I'm going to feel so much more confident on my next flight. Thanks!
I hear you!! I really need to relax, I'll never enjoy my flights otherwise.. if I even fligh at all, yesterday I was in a park, with just a couple of m/s wind and I put it back in his box terrorized to lose the mini :D
@@nnsense you just have to dare flying high and far in a free space area and get some confidence I was like you and now I wanna switch to the mavic air 2 cause With the mini after 300 m away I start loosing the signal and yeah that is frustrating.
I immediately recognised the location; the pier of IJmuiden, in the Netherlands. Had a stroll there recently. For a moment I had forgotten that DC Rainmaker is located here. Great place for wind tests.
New pilot here. I've been playing a bit with some higher wind situations around home today so I'm glad to find this video to better understand the mini's limitations. Incidentally, the last, first and only time I've tried a hand landing, I cut my finger on the still spinning blade. The most painful injury was to my pride!
Finally found a video that to me, is a real test. I live on O’ahu, Hawai’i and our winds are all over the place. It’s nice to see how the mini handles itself with that kind of windy conditions. I’m also glad that you didn’t lose it due to high winds. Great video.
Finally, a wind test with a proper explanation of how to fight wind! Every other test I've seen on TH-cam says "get lower" which, granted, is good advice but if going lower isn't possible, tacking in sport mode has saved me a walk many times! Well done! Fantastic video!
Amazing wind test! When my mini gives me strong winds alert my heart almost comes out thought my mouth! I can't imagine how you were cold enough to bring him back! Congrats!
I have no personal use for drones ..... and yet I find myself watching each of your tests, such cool kit now. Sometimes it's just fun to watch! Cheers.
Quite unbelievable that the DJI Mini resist to this strong wind. I never would test this with my Mini due to fear to lose the bird. Thanks for this video
Owner of a Mini, I am very pleased to see it handle wind well. Also that footage of the waves is fantastic! Thank you for putting your neck on the line
When I saw the notification and place of test, I was afraid that you flow the Mini within same wind that the Air 2. And I thought OMG this guy is insane!!! Nice video as always, thanks for the stuff man.
Dude's got the balls of steel! You are literally throwing your drones into the sea to see if it will manage to come back :) Extremely informative in terms of understanding what I can and cannot do with my Mavic Mini. I wish I seen this footage before I lifted up to approx 100 m, drifted away with the wind and could not retrieve my Mini back. Result: battery-dead landing in the middle of nowhere. Luckily for me I took some pictures while landing, so I could recognize the terrain during rescue mission. You're the man, man!
...not the only one. :) I had a safety plan to get it back to the pier further down-wind if I had to, but the gusts picked up a bit more than I expected. Luckily tacking worked quite well!
Can we just stop and appreciate how stable that lil thing is! Mavic air2 might be superior to this but this is a hell of a tech packed in just a 249g!!
I haven't tried it with winds above 6 m/s. But your test is impressive and think about it to test some my own, because when you are making a holiday trip the wind can always be various. Thanks for the video.
Wow, now I feel way way more confident to fly my Mavic Mini in windy days, just close by like you did! Usually I always check and only when there is no wind at all almost, very light breezes maybe - that's when I fly.. And I always check windspeed at the altitude I'm planning to fly at.. Great video this is hey, I'm super impressed that the Mini withstood such crazy for it winds! Keep well and safe... Sweet
The update they did when you lose RC connection was critical. Originally just RTH which I bet cause a lot of mini losses. Now you have hover and descend. Sometimes better to just descend on land somewhere and retrieve it. The issue was that in high winds some people couldn’t RTH. So they try to land it but objects like trees would cut the RC connection which would initiate the RTH which cause the Mini to further drift away! In this situation it was best to just try to hover until the battery forced a descend. But at least now you have a descend option.
Oh man... I haven't seen you since your blog on the original Garmin Vivosmart (I ended up buying it, and the 4th gen) And now randomly I see you doing this... And I think you've now sold me on it, too (I live in the mountains with high winds) ;) Have to first see how it handles trees in a forest tho :) Glad to see you've branched out and still putting our quality work 👍
Very useful thank you. I subscribed. Also I like what you have taught us about using the wind to get your drone back in a bad situation. I will remember this
EXactly what i was looking for. i thought last night you already have this review before, it turned out it was the MA2. i'm thinking of getting this or the fimi x8 se 2020 coz they're of the same price range. my only concern was that there are a lot of flyaway reports for MM. this one somehow proved them wrong(my opinion). great work
Yeah, flyaways are tough. They more or less happen with every drone - but drones that sell more units (like the Mini) will ultimately see more reports. Also, I suspect with the Mini being a much lower price point, there's a bit more inexperience there. As such, I'd bet a portion of those flyaways may be 'driver' related.
@@Dcrainmaker you're correct, most of flyaways are pilot error due to inexperience. Not enough satelites, compass error due to power on on concrete or metal surfaces, not understanding wind profiles are the most common errors.
Thanks so much for the video and thanks for letting us know about the Way to fly back home across the wind when you can’t fly directly against it. That’s good to know in case of an emergency!
very good test.i really feel dji have been super reserved about what the mini can handle.i tried flying mine low in 35mph winds and it handled it but no way would I have done that next to water.
When used correctly the Mini has so MUCH more potential than it gets credit for. Judging by it's weight benefit, the video and picture quality and ofcourse it's price i think that it's the best Drone DJI ever made, even taking the Mavic2 into consideration which has better specs but costs twice as much and has several serious drawbacks with regulation, especially 2 years down the line.
Yup! Except, I gave her a sandbag in a backpack to weigh the tripod down. Minus the fact I forgot the tripod. And the fact that it wasn't till we were half-way across the beach that she said "What's in this bag?", and I said, "A sandbag", and she's like "Why The Eff didn't we just fill up the sandbag here?!?". To which...I never considered it.
Awesome video, really fun (and frightening 😅) to watch! What I don’t quite understand is why my Mini isn't as stable in gusts of wind as yours. It’s often clearly visible that the whole drone was shaken and that the gimbal wasn't able to deal with it - even in situations where the wind wasn't nearly as strong as in your video.
Awesome video, as we have just bought the Mini and it is August winds here in South Africa, so kinda scared to to it out and try it, as i'm a novice, i.e first drone... Thanks for the info. ONE LOVE💗

I gotta say, DJI makes some pretty badass drones. I'm surprised to see the teeny tiny lightweight Mini battle winds that'd probably blow me away.
Great job bro
Interesting using the Sport mode to recover from wind. Is that a technique that would work on any DJI drone, such as my Spark?
Yup indeed, works on the Spark too!
It's also good to set to sport mode if you're flying far and starting to lose signal. That way if it does a RTH it will be able to push vs any wind (up to a limit)
@@Airbag888 I think it changes to P mode when it executes RTH
Of course it also helps to be an excellent pilot!
