As an environmental artist, I will love the fuck out of this video. Thank you for taking the time out of your life to make this. Keep up the hard work ma man
@@adamok3811 Hi! There are lots of great sources. You can look at ctrl+paint (free lessons on painting), Kalen Chock livestreams on youtube on simplifying and background design, Marco Bucci videos on color and value. Tyler Edlin has some great info too

you can tell this video took a long period of time and a lot of hard work to make by how IP's hair grows incredibly long in some scenes, and then suddenly goes short in others
This was so amazing to watch, please keep doing what you do! Like another commenter said, it feels wrong to watch this video for free. I hope everyone can appreciate the amount of research, editing, and passion this took to make ❤
It feels so warm and emotional to watch a person praising and complimenting and just genuinely LOVING something almost five hours straight. And all this anime background art and its artists truly deserve it. The most wholesome and affectionate video I've ever seen, thank you!
When I tell you how I squealed with joy when my husband said you uploaded, it really made the rest of the day go so quickly. We got home from work, ate our dinner, and immediately ran to the couch to watch this masterpiece. We are at the 2:42:57 mark. Sadly, we'll have to pause to sleep, but excitedly, we'll be able to finish tomorrow night 🥰 we love ya! We appreciate all your hard work and can't wait to finish the rest of this amazing video 🎉
Yo that’s so cool that yall watch my vids together that’s so wholesome haha I’m happy to be your guys comfort watch during that time! Appreciate the love!
I love the fact that you spoke about "Heidi a girl of the alps"!!! As a german kid growing up this anime was one that almost all kids had seen and the general calmness of the anime as well as the beautiful environments were absolutely beautiful and i'm very sad that we can't have such simply beautiful and calm shows for children anymore
Man... this is amazing. I'm only just getting up to the 2000s and I felt like this was something I shouldn't be watching for free lol. Really appreciate the work you've done here my guy. The passion is felt as always!!! Thank you
As an artist and long time anime lover, what a comforting and informative video on a subject I have _never_ seen someone tackle before. As soon as I saw the title I was like "Holy shit, I've never heard anyone talk about this topic. 5 hours? Sign me up" Edit: your use of _Skyward_ Sword music combined with your explanation of the castle floating into the sky (1:20:07) was not lost on me. Seeing the love you put into this video and it's narrative, I doubt this was a coincidental choice!
3 days later and I’ve finally finished this video, and that ending saying goodbye to Shichiro Kobayashi and him saying we can meet him in the worlds he’s created god damn. You’ve done something special here man. I know it’s been said a hundred times already but congrats on finishing this beast of a video, and you should be super proud of what you put together 🫶🏼
@@InternetPitstop it worked like a fucking charm man! And hit me like a tonne of bricks. Makes me want to start writing some videos from a hard hitting ending point and work backwards
So glad to see people appreciating Castle in the Sky. It's my favorite ghibli movie, and I honestly think it has some of the most profound visuals. It made me into who I am today and had such an effect on my love for ancient cities, architecture, and nature.
You madlad. You really did it. I just discovered you, when you said you were working on this longer video. I have nothing but appreciation for you, for seeing it through. Your content is such a "hidden" gem here on youtube. Thank you!
The art itself is beautiful, but your commentary adds such a heart evoking appreciation for everything that you come across. You encapsulate some of the feelings one can only experience through how passionate you go into depth over even the smaller things. Especially since you approach things more like someone who's talking to a friend than a textbook essay, in my opinion at least. If anything concerning art catches my interest, you'd be the first person I'd think of to listen to speak about it. Thank you so much for the time you put into these, you're a cool internet dude
I don't even watch anime and this is my second time watching this video after just finding it last week. I've literally only heard about like 5 of these total (ghost in the shell and the Ghiblis), but now I'm about to go down an anime spiral because I NEED to see angels egg. Like I need it in my life. As an artist, I've always found my eyes wandering to the backgrounds. It's no different with anime, I used to pause and just stare at the backgrounds in awe during the few anime movies I've seen. I'll never forget the first time I saw Howl's room in Howl's moving castle, I was speechless. Thank you for highlighting such a beautiful and underappreciated art 🫶🏻
man, as much as I love animation, I'm so happy someone is as interested to make a 4 hour essay on just the subject of background. Thank you for respecting the work of all of these animators and the Animation medium
See, videos like this and content creators like you, THAT'S what TH-cam should be about! There is so much trash on this platform but this channel is a damn gem shining through all of it!
Will save this gem for later! I can't fathom how long this took, hence, on the behalf of the community.. Thank you for putting out these bangers, they are truly something special in this day and age thats riddled with low quality short form content
It's wild, I was *just* thinking about this topic yesterday. Some 90's anime will have a budget of ¥27 and a coughdrop, yet they always hit it out of the park when it comes to backgrounds. And then you have the opposite end of the spectrum, like Akira, which if the entire film was just two hours of backgrounds, it would still be a must-watch.
When I was little, I had yet to discover anime but I remember being obsessed with the backgrounds of my favorite animated kid's shows. Backgrounds are surprisingly involved. Take a character's bedroom for instance. What can we tell about them from the mess (or lack of mess) in the room? What are their toys like? Their books? I can't think of Cardcaptor Sakura's house without thinking about her cute alarm clock or her stuffed animal collection. As a kid, I would draw highly detailed backgrounds to give my characters all the things they would need to be comfortable. It sounds strange, but I wanted my backgrounds to nurture my characters. I still cannot watch a show or play a video game without taking a moment simply to appreciate the environment.
Your goal of making the most aesthetically pleasing chill video was achieved. You also gave me and the rest of the viewers some AWESOME recommendations! Impeccable work IP 👏🏻💖🙏🏻
this video was like a curated tour through anime's history. hearing someone talk about stuff i care about so passionately, and so many new recommendations is dope. I've barely touched stuff from before the 90's besides ghibli so I'm happy to add so much stuff to my watch list. I've been working in animation, both anime and western stuff, for a while, and knowing the non-industry audience can care so much about this sort of stuff is genuinely pretty inspiring. I know the lineage of animators fairly well, but next to nothing about background artists aside from the most well known examples like Kazuo Oga. Really cool to learn about these artists. Great video, and Laputa is also my favorite ghibli movie.
THIS IS GONNA BE THE BEST VIDEO EVER omg i cannot wait to stew on this and see where this 4 hour journey is gonna take me! this is KILLER effort and patience dude, inspiring as hell. i also want to say, THANK YOU thank you so much for using music from Okamiden specifically 😭❤ that game does NOT get enough love, seems like most ppl either pretend it doesnt exist, or just dont know about it. Yakushi Village esp fit so well where u used it, that game's ost absolutely belongs here. okami fans rejoice!! EDIT ok actual mention of a background... if i dont see the Inuyasha outro bg with Sesshomaru looking into the distance where his father's armor stands... dang that would be a tragic miss
I didn’t know how much my soul needed this video. As an artist I needed to see this video. Several moments gave me chills and you described the artwork as you showed it. Truly a one of a kind video experience my friend!
as an italian i have to say that Marco absolutely nails 1800s Genoa, it's clearly based on the descriptions in the novel and the research is amazing. I believe this experience was also very important to myazaki for the making of Porco Rosso, where, even without the same accuracy in the architecture and landscapes because of his onirical style, he's able to immortalize the general vibe perfectly
I just wanted to say I recently starting working for a studio. Your video has inspired me and sparked an admiration for something I have never been able to put to words. The energy that comes from these spaces with the music scope that you have created is absolutely beautiful. It's funny that you have made so many different works of art seem like just a stop on a long and ongoing narrative that feels so human and so expressive. The video may be 5 hours, but it still doesn't feel long enough. I just want to linger in these spaces, sitting for just a moment until I am ready to come back up for air. Thank you, you've inspired me to continue learning and probably taking some art classes to try and recreate these works.
As an artist I really appreciate this video because I’m trying to get into doing background art myself, and this video really helped me figure out what style I would like to do in the future and what amazing artist I can learn from to achieve the goal. Even though this video did take me two days to finish😅it was worth it.✨💖💖
I was so happy when you mentioned the anime "Future Boy Conan". This anime is loved by many in the middle east, like it was THE anime that I used to watch with my family. Everyone knows it and everyone loves it and therefore I was yearning the whole time for you to mention it, because it truly deserve its place here. Its an interesting anime with an amazing story that i will never stop loving. It truly was ahead of its time !!!
Genuinely proud of myself that, like Lain, I managed to watch this video all the way through to 3 AM. I don’t regret a minute of it because it was so lovely and engaging, and I love IP so much - his humor and passion and god tier anime takes are so great. And now I’m off to sleep, so thank you for the forehead kiss and the extremely in depth look at all the brilliant background art brodie.
Your music choices are a huge part of how invested I feel watching this video, you have PHENOMENAL taste This is also just an incredibly thorough and well researched/documented chronology of sick anime, plenty that I’d never even heard of before too - fantastic job dude:) Animation is such an evocative medium and it’s so cool to see someone else talk about how much the vibes impact them
I'm so happy mushishi was mentioned..it's literally one of my favorite anime and part of the reason was the background art and how it went with the ost to give this surrealistic melancholic vibe, which I appreciate the series for. Thank you for such an insightful video
I love how this video tries to imbue a specific atmosphere and vibe for each decade being talked about. I'm watching this video in chunks and every time I return it feels like I'm in a different era and taking a rest in this very cozy room. You're living up to your channel name.
Love you, Internet Pitstop. Every time you upload is a joy, your edits are so inspiring, and you are a legend. Thanks for everything, the world is lucky to have you.
The influence that many of these backgrounds and aesthetics had on live-action cinema is really cool too. Probably my favorite example is how Cowboy Bebop was largely inspired by Blade Runner, but then went on to have its art direction be influential to Blade Runner's reboot, and then finally coming full circle and having Shinichiro Watanabe (Bebop's director) truly get his flowers by directing first an OVA and then a full anime series set in the blade runner universe.
After a couple of weeks I have to say this is one of the best TH-cam videos I've ever seen, this is what TH-cam should always be and have been. Just passion about a topic, you can feel all the work behind the making of this, all the research. In the middle of all the reaction channels and the low effort content this shines as light of hope and true passion for TH-cam. A very high quality content. I watch anime since I was a toddler, I'm 29 now and watching this I learned a lot about the series and movies that I have seen along those years in a way I didn't expect, thanks for giving tribute to the people behind anime, thanks for make me apreciate anime in a new way. Thanks bro.
Bro I love the call out for not watching a movie but geeking out on work day long, obscure anime vids 😂 this is what we want & need, uncut rants doin your own thing (and loving the grown out hair btw, curly hair gang)
Tight transitions and pacing that gave everything adequate room in our minds.... A perfectly curated auditory landscape that sent chills down my spine (not to mention using songs whose titles thematically fit?)... An analysis of each work based solely on it's background art and how the story is told through that art is such a raw and unique video topic. It demonstrates a real love for the art form, represents niche works combined with the more popular, and discusses them in a way that makes me not only want to watch every show on this list, but makes me confront the love and talent behind the plot and characters. You've got such a keen eye for varied aesthetics and present them in such a cozy way. No criticism as is the nature in the video essay DNA, just love and admiration. You've seriously made me think differently about art. Every one of your uploads is great, but this has got to be your best work. Incredibly well done. Now time to go watch some anime!
Straight up, I’m just commenting to help out the algorithm. Been following you for a while now brother, and everything you produce is made with such care and love. I hope you feel proud for the monument you created, and know that I’ll be doing my small part to help share it with the world. You’re a beast my guy ❤
I’ve finally made my full way through this masterpiece of a video (I’ve been watching a little bit day by day) thank you IP for all the work you put into this. It’s a really special video and labor of love
I’ve never felt such a sense of nostalgia as heavy as when I watched this young men’s videos. You deserve like three mil subscribers not just because I like you, but because of the way that you’ve made me feel as a man from the 90s, I know almost all of us feel this way.
The care you put into this video is insane. Not only do you provide such thorough analysis, but your editing as well deserves its own praise. You could have easily just kept the green screen cut out in the corner, but you moved it to fit the context of certain backgrounds and even put a BUBBLE OVER YOUR HEAD when you were underwater. Your passion for creating videos is evident. Also got to mention your music choices. Such an amazing selection from a variety of media, and you paired each anime with background music that pair perfectly with the themes you discuss. Like I already said, your passion is evident. Keep up the incredible work!
Fellow Laputa lad here ✋ Man… this video is Outstanding, love that you talk about each chapter with such passion. Keep up the good and obvious time consuming work ❤
I have been bed ridden with covid and i probably watched this video 6 times, what a banger absolute masterpiece 💯, you're blessing us every time with incredible work and creativity 💓
Let's acknowledge the uniqueness and rarity of this video. It's surprising that not many people explore the impact of art style, background, atmosphere and aesthetic on our appreciation, perhaps because it's ubiquitous that we often take it for granted, much like the air we breathe. Bonus : I liked how passionately and in depth you appreciate sunsets, I have a thing for "Tony Scott Sky" too. Something about those Golden Hour hues. I really liked you couldn't help to explain every colours/hues that comprised the sunset and how everything else ( buildings, landscapes, clouds, water source, etc) gets coloured by it!
This has actually been one of your best videos yet. It’s just truly phenomenal & so serene at times, the background music matches the visuals on screen so well it’s mesmerizing, honestly I don’t know how to put how much I appreciate this one into words. It’s just perfect fr. Keep doing what you’re doing IP, much love from all of us
You wouldn't believe how many times I've checked your channel to make sure Papa TH-cam didn't forget to notify me when you dropped this masterpiece. No lie, I checked on Friday and here we are on Sunday and it's finally arrived! Congrats on the accomplishment and i can't wait for more in the future, keep doing what you're doing bro you're great 😩👌💕
Your videos always bring me back to the pure passion and admiration I've had ever since first starting to get into the medium around 10 years ago when I was 11-12yo and still in primary school. That absolute joy and wonder that I had experienced throughout highschool by getting deeper and deeper into everything that manga and anime had to offer. Thank you.
Mr. Pitstopperson, it took me a couple days to finish this video, but my god, it was well worth it. This video fully encapsulates the EXACT type of passion and vibe that built TH-cam from the ground up, and you should be proud to have this as part of your body of work! Thank you for shining a light on an oft forgotten--but very necessary!--part of the art we love to watch. Cheers, mate! I'm excited to see what you upload next 😁 (Also ur music choices here keep making my nostalgia ascend, so thank you as well for the quality bg soundtrack lol)
Thank you so much for making this video. Im 1 hour and 50 minutes in, and this video gives me such a warm and cozy feeling. This is truly a love letter to anime and animation in general Edit: This is easily going into my “Comfort Videos” playlist
IP, i don’t know how you do it or what exactly it is about your videos, but almost all of them manage to bring tears to my eyes… i just want to say thank you, i’m still going through the most fucked up breakup i’ve ever had, i feel like shit and almost don’t see the point of living anymore. but the stuff you make is something i can always go to to get at least a little bit better. thank you with all of my heart.
I listened to this while making scenario sprites for my next indie game. I peeked at the video a lot, too. So inspiring! I also love when someone talks about Lodoss War, because I like it so much, and so few people know about it.
Almost 5h long doesn't matter when it comes to the impact that this video had on me. This whole legacy of anime backgrounds is so inspiring. Also I can't belive that you were able to find unique way to explain backgrounds of all these titles without constantly repeating yourself. Huge thanks for this video. Keep it up
Thank you for this video! Background art is so beautiful and goats like Shichiro Kobayashi should be household names in animation so thank you for sharing your appreciation for his work :)
The vast variety of the backgrounds and the vibes they eminent has always helped me visual writing scenes. Whether it be chill city vibes & serene forests to abstract desolate urbanscapes or oppressively dark landscapes
I was about to bring up the beauty that is Grimgar Ashes and Illusions then I saw it in the timestamps and now I’m absolutely ready to strap in for a 5 hour video Edit: This video was absolutely amazing! Not only did your research and love of the craft shine through, it’s such a great love letter to animators, art directors and creativity in general! Also the fact that this is by no means a complete list yet you have so many amazing examples of why the backgrounds give off their vibes and the history of various art directors just shows how vast this craft is. Also, plenty of great new anime recommendations for anyone who hasn’t seen some of these, I know my own list is gonna have quite a few additions now, keep up the amazing work man!
VOICES OF A DISTANT STAR!!!! I saw this when I was young and forgot the name of it, years ago I tried looking it up online but got no results so I gave up and forgot about it UNTIL YOU SHOWED THOSE BACKGROUNDS it all came back. Memory unlocked bro thank you so so somuch! 😭
This video gives me all the right feelings, and I'm only an hour in. Dude really, it's giving comfort, inspiration, humor, insight, awe. Thank you so so so much for your efforts in creating this gem of a video!
We truly are blessed to be in a period when anime is truly westernized to a point where we can look at archives and to be astonished like our first time seeing the world. Thanks ip for showing us the beauty of color, setting and time of anime backgrounds. You pumped blood into this side of youtube man
I work 2 jobs and don't have alot of time my hands, it took me 6 days to finish this and it was well worth it. I appreciate your dedication and passion for what you bring to us.
Took me like two weeks to finish but loved every second :) it’s like having a buddy talk to me about interesting things while I’m getting ready for the day 🎉
I'm not really an active Anime fan, but was when I was a kid. I'm about halfway through this video and you've done a great job. You nailed a certain nostalgia I've had for this kind of landscape, especially from the 90s. Always enjoy catching your content, great work.
I have to say again your music selection is phenomenal for your videos. Scott Martin, The Witcher, Chrono Trigger, WoWetc. makes the video so much better
We Love You Man!!!❤❤❤ Thank you sooo much for working so hard to put out such AMAZING HEARTFELT WHOLESOME & NOSTALGIC Content, I really look forward to Your videos every single day since I stumbled on this little pitstop on the internet..❤❤ Please know your appreciated and MUCH LOVED thank you for everything you've poured your hear & soul into!! I finally finished the video (I couldn't do anything else while watching because I didn't want to miss anything so it took some time) and now I find myself tearing up over a name I didn't know about four days ago. Your goal of making people appreciate anime backgrounds and the names behind them is undoubtedly reached. Before this video, out of the main people you talked about, the only name I knew was Oga and that's only because I was lucky enough to visit a Studio Ghibli exhibition nine years ago. I'm lost for words to express what this video made me feel. Thank you for spending so much time making it. I wouldn't be surprised if it inspires people into becoming background artists.
I've been a fan since the beginning and I just want to say I think its possible this video will be a marker that splits your channel into a before and an after. The amount of research that went into this is crazy and will probably influence all your videos from this point on. Keep up the amazing work my man!
I know I'm kinda late. But I absolutely love the music connections you do in the whole video. Connections to games, other media, it all connects so beautifully, that you are bound to notice. Hollow Knight is one of my favourite games, and your inclusion of it's music is magical. The toxic jungle section in Nausica pairing up with the fungal wastes is so impactful. Of course, Angel's Egg is obvious, but you still made it so impactful. Ya'harguls music in Berserk's eclipse is so so good. True respect, it shows not only your commitment to your passion, but the vast way you're able to express yourself. That's art.
So I finally finished after 2 days and I have to say it was such a lovely journey all the way from the 60s to present times. It felt long in a good way, like I love how much time you took on each decade and even shed light on the amazing people behind all these timeless backgrounds in anime. I enjoyed every minute of this, so much that when it ended I felt kinda empty. I was very invested in this it seems😂😂😂😂. Anyways, I'm very grateful for all the effort and passion you put into this. I think we could tell how much it took a toll on you. 4, pretty much 5 hours is no joke. The research, filming and editing must've taken more out of you than we can imagine. But you did an extremely good job. I hope you know that. You sincerely were a relaxing pitstop in the corner of the internet.
Your videos are actually my favorites. I’ve watched nearly all of them. The quality is always on point. How you edit them always gives me a good feeling and puts me at peace. I appreciate you and the work and the amount of effort you put into every video

i just wanna say this video is the reason i passed finals. the whole time i was working on essays and i was watching this i kept thinking “if you can put your heart and soul into this than i can write one essay” i hope you know this video isn’t lost on us at all. thank you pitstop ❤
Im still in the middle of watching this, but I just want to show my appreciation to you for showing off all these gorgeous anime backgrounds and giving a little trivia here and there! I'm super into the 80's/90's anime style and it's fun to learn about the earlier decades and the styles evolving 💜 I love your videos! You're so chill yet super passionate about the topics you talk about, it's really nice to see!
So I have watched this entire video. I didn’t think I would but internet pitstop’s personality, creativity and analysis keeps you drawn in and engaged throughout! And yes, you are loved! Thank you for putting in so much work!😊
Great job, you should be proud of all the work that you do, your channel has a very important place in my heart, you dont know how much your content is a rare good relaxing atmosphere on the internet, hope you get more more and recognition, because you deserve it
i usually make very long comments on this channel espicially on a niche topic that i enjoy like this but with a 4+ hours video i dont know what more to add. good job.
You can tell a good amount of research was put into you understanding these backgrounds and you conveyed that understanding in a concise and entertaining way. This might be my favorite video of yours so far. Big ups for talking about Sabu and Ichi, Belladonna of Sadness, The Eccentric Family, and of course the GOAT Kobayashi. Keep up the good work ❤
I was looking forward to this video ever since you announced you were working on it! ALMOST 5 HOURS!? THANK YOU FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!! ❤❤❤ I have been introduced to some incredible shows and movies because of this video! I am such a sucker for classic anime and historically important animation! I love that I finally found a community that loves anime background art as much as I do! I think my favorite backgrounds in anime belong to City Hunter. I really hope you talk about this show in your analysis! The backgrounds are consistently beautiful and breathtaking for a TV budget.
The editing in this is top tier. From the CT timeline to the (consistent) use of the DS message SFX for the info tooltips, including the mask effect for the titles of all the series featured.
Excellent video man! You can tell your love for the craft is dripping from every orpheus of this 4 hour long video. Holding out was the right call. Was well worth the wait.
I'm so freaking proud of you I've been here since the beginning and watching this video for the past 4 days straight as I either wake up or go to sleep has been a joy going through a difficult time again I needed this so much information and knowledge that you possess do your constant studying once I find a job I'm sure to donate to your patreon keep up the good work for the people that need this like Oxygen please keep up the research and studying and making cool videos and your co-host was perfect.

Im sayinnnn real work not this 6min videos. I need to grab some food from the mall teriyaki chicken and white rice and chill inside watching this
Will save this gem for later! I can't fathom how long this took, hence, on the behalf of the community.. Thank you for putting out these bangers, they are truly something special in this day and age thats riddled with low quality short form content
Much respect for helping our bro
You earned my respect
Same
Those edits of each anime before you talked about them were TOP TIER!! Also I LOVE YOU IP DONT STOP
Bro what a herculean task to make this incredible video. Kudos to you.
Yo wtf I didn’t think I’d see you here! Lol I used to listen to Rant Cafe before this took up all my time lol
Thank you!
4 hours? Sigh that’s light work
I’ll take your stuff seriously if it’s 9 hours
@@WhizPillgood for you buddy
this video was like a curated tour through anime's history.
hearing someone talk about stuff i care about so passionately, and so many new recommendations is dope.
Been working through this video for a few days, I’m a bit over halfway now, the vibes are immaculate
4 HOUR VIDEO LETS GOOOO
THIS IS GONNA BE THE BEST VIDEO EVER omg i cannot wait to stew on this and see where this 4 hour journey is gonna take me!
this is KILLER effort and patience dude, inspiring as hell. i also want to say, THANK YOU thank you so much for using music from Okamiden specifically 😭❤
that game does NOT get enough love, seems like most ppl either pretend it doesnt exist, or just dont know about it. Yakushi Village esp fit so well where u used it, that game's ost absolutely belongs here. okami fans rejoice!!
EDIT ok actual mention of a background... if i dont see the Inuyasha outro bg with Sesshomaru looking into the distance where his father's armor stands... dang that would be a tragic miss
thank you so much! And awww im sorry I actually tried to avoid using bgs from openings and endings for the most part sorry about that
@@InternetPitstop bro with the awwws lol thats my thing from like 2010
The music you are choosing to pair up with each anime is 10/10. I especially loved the use of Pokemon Colloseum for Trigun
I didn’t know how much my soul needed this video. As an artist I needed to see this video. Several moments gave me chills and you described the artwork as you showed it. Truly a one of a kind video experience my friend!
Giving us the bg music playlist like always but on a 4 hour video. God tier youtuber.
Gotchu fam!
Gotchu fam!
as an italian i have to say that Marco absolutely nails 1800s Genoa, it's clearly based on the descriptions in the novel and the research is amazing. I believe this experience was also very important to myazaki for the making of Porco Rosso, where, even without the same accuracy in the architecture and landscapes because of his onirical style, he's able to immortalize the general vibe perfectly
I‘ve been anticipating this moment and I‘m going to enjoy every second of it
I just wanted to say I recently starting working for a studio.
That’s awesome man! Keep it up!
Dude I’m like 30 mins in and can feel the passion, I’ve been considering making content on my own and this inspired me. I thank you my bro
An almost 5 hour long documentary on anime backgrounds starting with Nujabes is most def gonna be good
Absolutely insane video. Just wild stuff man. This rules, and I’m so glad more and more people have been finding your channel.
Your music choices are a huge part of how invested I feel watching this video, you have PHENOMENAL taste
This is also just an incredibly thorough and well researched/documented chronology of sick anime, plenty that I’d never even heard of before too - fantastic job dude:) Animation is such an evocative medium and it’s so cool to see someone else talk about how much the vibes impact them
I'm so happy mushishi was mentioned..it's literally one of my favorite anime and part of the reason was the background art and how it went with the ost to give this surrealistic melancholic vibe, which I appreciate the series for. Thank you for such an insightful video
Just wanted to say that placed hollow Knight music so well. It fits perfectly, especially with Angel's egg cause it's pretty much city of tears
Thank you fam!
Thank you so much! And yes I spent a lot of damn time finding songs to thematically fit the series lol
Straight up, I’m just commenting to help out the algorithm. Been following you for a while now brother, and everything you produce is made with such care and love. I hope you feel proud for the monument you created, and know that I’ll be doing my small part to help share it with the world. You’re a beast my guy ❤
Tremendous effort. Thank you for this gift.
Yo! To be recognized by one of the Goats of anitube! Im geekin rn lol
Keep up the good and obvious time consuming work ❤
I have been bed ridden with covid and i probably watched this video 6 times, what a banger absolute masterpiece 💯, you're blessing us every time with incredible work and creativity 💓
get well soon
I'm excited to see what you upload next 😁
(Also ur music choices here keep making my nostalgia ascend, so thank you as well for the quality bg soundtrack lol)
This video I just started and it makes me very happy because I’ve always loved background art but no one talks about it except you here and now 😅😊
Thank you so much for making this video. Im 1 hour and 50 minutes in, and this video gives me such a warm and cozy feeling. This is truly a love letter to anime and animation in general
Edit: This is easily going into my “Comfort Videos” playlist
IP, i don’t know how you do it or what exactly it is about your videos, but almost all of them manage to bring tears to my eyes… i just want to say thank you, i’m still going through the most fucked up breakup i’ve ever had, i feel like shit and almost don’t see the point of living anymore. but the stuff you make is something i can always go to to get at least a little bit better. thank you with all of my heart.
I appreciate the love man and I hope you feel better and get better from the breakup
@@InternetPitstopi appreciate that. thank you
I really hope this video pops off for you. You deserve it after putting in this much work I cannot imagine the hours you put in😂
I listened to this while making scenario sprites for my next indie game.
I was about to bring up the beauty that is Grimgar Ashes and Illusions then I saw it in the timestamps and now I’m absolutely ready to strap in for a 5 hour video
Edit: This video was absolutely amazing!
The amount of work that you have put into this video is INSANEEE. Amazing video, brother.
This video gives me all the right feelings, and I'm only an hour in. Dude really, it's giving comfort, inspiration, humor, insight, awe. Thank you so so so much for your efforts in creating this gem of a video!
Honestly, you quickly rose to be one of, if not my favorite youtuber, can't wait to watch this masterpiece
Took me like two weeks to finish but loved every second :) it’s like having a buddy talk to me about interesting things while I’m getting ready for the day 🎉
Thank you!
2:14:22 do you know the song :(
Cats on Mars - SEATBELTS (from Cowboy Bebop)@@sourlab
We Love You Man!!!❤❤❤ Thank you sooo much for working so hard to put out such AMAZING HEARTFELT WHOLESOME & NOSTALGIC Content, I really look forward to Your videos every single day since I stumbled on this little pitstop on the internet..❤❤ Please know your appreciated and MUCH LOVED thank you for everything you've poured your hear & soul into!! And thank you for always making sure to give credit & praise to these amazing GOATS help on the collabs with this video !!😊
The return of the king, good to have you back bro.
Love the time and dedication you put into all your vids Can’t wait for you to get the flowers you deserve 🤞🏾
As a concept artist that love doing environments, this video is amazing and inspirational! Thank you so much for your efforts!
I usually don't leave comments, but this was a phenomenal amount of work and effort and it clearly deserves support and recognition. I watched this video in like 5 sittings. It honestly felt like a journey. So much insight, very well done! Drawing to this video was just so nice!
This is really what I needed today. Thanks dude. This is like medicine for my soul. You are golden.
i just wanna say this video is the reason i passed finals. the whole time i was working on essays and i was watching this i kept thinking “if you can put your heart and soul into this than i can write one essay” i hope you know this video isn’t lost on us at all. thank you pitstop ❤
Thank you for putting in so much work!😊
Great job, you should be proud of all the work that you do, your channel has a very important place in my heart, you dont know how much your content is a rare good relaxing atmosphere on the internet, hope you get more more and recognition, because you deserve it
Commenting again at the end because you deserve it for this video. It took me like 5 days to finish but it was worth it. Bravo man!
i usually make very long comments on this channel espicially on a niche topic that i enjoy like this but with a 4+ hours video i dont know what more to add.
Keep up the good work ❤
Thanks y’all! Means a lot coming from you guys as a fan of your podcast.
I didn't know I needed a video like this, but I'm glad you've brought this to life. Niche shit like this gives me life
The editing in this is top tier.
