This video is one of the many reasons why I love both of your channels Matt. You share your opinions in an open and honest way while allowing others to comment and share their opinions as well. Awesome job guys with this review! You both are so much fun to watch! Keep up the great work!
Totally agree with your opinions on this model. For the money. I could have a dually with another brand 5th wheel that I'd be happier with. Sorry... common sense consumer. Thanks guys for the review!
I think it’s fair to be more critical at that price point. I compared DRV against a Riverstone legacy , they were comparable construction, but the front construction on the frame, the plumbing , paint job, just overall feel of the Riverstone made me feel it was a much better unit for the money, and they are both $$$ We were going to order a rear kitchen unit until we changed our mind and chose a Class A. To each their own. For full timers they are great but so are Van Leigh or Riverstone , which also has 3” walls….
I think situations like this are exactly why you have such a strong following. I never heard you say it was a bad RV. I did hear you help us understand the fall backs with choosing this particular RV which has a high price point. I also heard you call out the good points where credit was due.
I am with you on the paint job. No backup camera? Really? Also, if you are buying a $225K fifth wheel, put in the stackable washer and dryer, don't just leave it prepped for one. I personally couldn't use those overhead cabinets as I am 5ft on a good day. I like the Master suite with the cedar closet, the kitchen and the outside storage.
I totally agree with your opinions on this towable. There was a lot more I didn’t like. I hated the way the spice cabinet was so hard to open. I wasn’t crazy about the day shades they were too light.
I have no problem with the carpet, but I do agree with what you said about the floor vents. What you pointed out about the outside, I completely agree.
Hi Matt and Wil! My likes are the kitchen the bedroom and bathroom and the huge closet. I Love the wood in the closet. And my dislikes are the carpet in slide out and heat vent in floor and the others were the same as yours.
100% Agreed with everything you said in the review, especially when considering the price of such a unit. In addition to the water heater not having been painted, the worst part of it is the over spray on the surround of the vent. It sticks out like a sore thumb. The kitchen counter space was a bit lacking, but when considering the overall size of the unit, it's acceptable. The bedroom and master bath are fantastic. As for the half bath, it's nice to have the extra toilet just because. Even if it's not a PPP, it's good to have.
Completely agree. I’ve seen 5th wheels that are $100K less. That had back up cameras no vents in the floor and no carpet! Get with the program DRV it’s 2022!
DRV was our top choice pre-COVID, but it seems like their desire to seize the moment and maximize profits with the current RV market has clouded their judgment and drastically affected the quality of their units. This unit is the stripped down new and not so improved version of what to expect of a previously great product. It looks like Grand Design or even Alliance will be the toy hauler of choice for us now if we choose a towable. It was very apparent, understandably so, that Matt was ashamed of this unit and company for the industry’s sake. It was embarrassing that it didn’t have any amenities that are standard on much more affordable units like Max Air covers, solar prep, hydraulic assist steps, painted water heater cover and more. And no washer and dryer for a quarter of $1 million?! Shameful!😠
Instead of a tiny bathroom, I would prefer a buttler's pantry with a beverage fridge, coffee bar and a small sink bar style. Relocate the washer and dryer in the bedroom closet. What do you think ?
We bought a used 2011 DRV 38tksb3 2-1/2 years ago from a retired couple that had moved into a park model. Great 5th wheel. Fit and finish on it is excellent. Outside it looks identical to this one. We were looking at Vanleigh but fell into the DRV for $25,000. Thor bought DRV in 2015. I don't think the attention to detail is what it was when it was Doubletree.
The space between the stove and sink was unacceptable. I did like the piping on the sofa and recliners. Could not believe the recliners were not power at this price. I thought the shower was rather small and the sinks too close together. I would have given up some storage in the bath to make both spaces work better. The layout in the 1/2 bath laundry room felt awkward. I liked the paint on the exterior. I did not like that some cabinets looked different than others and some had handles and some did not. What gives? And is this built for super tall people?
Quarter mil, handles and water heater cover definitely should have been color matched. I also think, should have had the generator included, not just prepped for one.
Do a review on the Luxe they are in the same price range. But you can really see what your money is buying. Look at the details ie cabinet construction, chaulk lines, exposed screws wheel fenders, paint quality, square construction. trim work. ect ect ect. Yes I have a Luxe being built as we speak. I looked at DRV along with every other luxury fifth wheel out there. I think they were all less then stellar this is me being nice. Thanks for your reviews.
(I do not know why the print went to red! I couldn't figure out how to change it back to black.) That was an interesting review....and funny! I liked the review. Matt, you always make me nervous when you gotv, I knew when you two saw the latch for the door on the outside that you wouldn't like it. I also knew you wouldn't like the black hot water heater cover. Fun review!
100% agree on the carpet! I hate carpet anywhere in an Rv. For this price point they should be building the slides with matching flooring and it should be flush. This makes it look cheap. Floor vents are also awful!
Wil and Matt… well done. You nailed this review! As a pet owner, I am not a fan of all the floor vents. Nice looking rig, just a number ‘why did they do that?’ Moments.
LIKE THE KITCHEN THE LIVING ROOM THE MASTER BATHROOM THE STORAGE DON’T LIKE THE CARPET THE MASTER BED SIZE IT NEEDS TO BE QUEEN SIZE BED THE TOILET REPLACEMENT IN THE 1/2 BATH
The storage is awesome! Love the bath and half. Love the kitchen! Can you guys talk more about the functions of lights and all the other electronic buttons on the RV'S you show... I'm disappointed in this RV with outside storage, should include the propane and an generator for the price.... Don't like the carpet, furniture isn't premium plus the hydraulics for steps etc.... Thanks guys ✌
Much of the cost is things you can't see, so many people are so interested in the pretty lights, colors, and new latest features, DRV does not do that. Yes is their a markup for a DRV absolutely but not as bad as you think once you consider how this thing is built.
I agree with Matt and Will on this DRV. DRV was top of the line but appears have moved down a few notches in everything but price. The outside handles and water heater should have been painted as well as the slides. The cabinets sounded cheap and some appear to have soft close and others did not. Floor vents should have sent aways years ago. I agree at this price point there should be no carpet in 2022. The layout was well thought out and I liked the kitchen, bedroom and rear bath. Suspension and pin box were nice quality but needed as this thing is a heavy beast at 22K wet.
LOL This was one of the funniest reviews. 😂 "We won't count the dislikes" There are way too many Seriously overpriced! Like you were saying it without saying it! 🤣😂
Besides your dislikes I added no solar, no tv elevator, no counter space on both sides of stove, no solar, considering the price this is a no go regardless of the quality. I did like the outside storage though.
Great review y'all I'm kinda disappointed in that drv I personally think drv went down hill after selling the company back in 2014, I have a 2014 drv tradition and thats the base model and it's built much better in my opinion again thanks for all you do!!!
For that much money it should have a back up camera tire pressure monitoring and a washer and dryer I couldn't believe it didn't ? I would buy a LUXE 5th wheel over the DRV any day
I appreciate your honesty....I really didn't like those high cabinets...and the doors sounds cheap. And the full body paint...the slides aren't painted on the sides. I've seen nicer ones at that price point. It's just bad news for Mobile Suites...how are they going to compete?
Agree on non-painted items, and would add the slide ends should be painted at that price. Carpet is a bummer. I don't like the floor vents but they do flow better. What you glossed over is the frame is head and shoulders above anything else except New Horizons. Morride IS suspension, Kodiak electric over hydraulic brakes, 17.5" wheels/tires. All wood trim and cabinets, no MDF, no particle board, no vinyl print faux wood. Is the price out of sight? You bet, but so is a coach for half this price built on a crap frame with shake-apart cabinets, etc.
This RV is not all about the lipstick. It’s about the DNA first. I miss when DNA and quality came before the lipstick and glamour. I’ve been looking for an RV that’s all quality and low on the shiny stuff while being reasonably priced, there are really only a couple on the market.
I agree, DRV may not have all the latest trends and colors etc. Paint could be better, and some of the issues are very easy fixes and they should correct. But they focus and do more on what really matters the foundation on quality of materials for the RV. That's why the dry weight of this thing is 17k the 3" sidewalls and beefier frame add a lot. Still out of my price point but if you want a unit to last you 15 years this is it. After 7-10 years, lets see what a Grand Design, Jayco, Alliance look like compared to one of these. Yes I know that many don't keep their RV's that long but buyers of these units do and these are made for long term ownership/retirees.
Why doesn’t it have solar prep or at least come with solar panels on the roof for the price it should be standard solar panels on the roof and a a generator should come standard as well
I’d save yourself a lot of money, and get a Jayco Pinnacle. Trust me, this isn’t worth this price, and a Pinnacle is every bit as nice as this, but for a lot less money.
Definitely way too high priced. Also, should have a washer and dryer at that price. And many other things you two mentioned. 👍👍Thank you! Thank you!👍👍💙💚💙💚🔷️
Wil & Matt,, I concur with you guys 100%... This unit seems overpriced!!! Both the Alliance & Joyco Pinnacle have similar finishes at much lower price point...
MSRP of $223,000+ and you found some serious blunders by the manufacturer. No way can you gloss over these blunders by bragging on their build quality and customer service. For that much money, the only time I want to contact the manufacturer is to let them know how happy I am with their product and what a great design it has. So, what was the "missing" pin weight?
Thank You glad someone pointed that out finally. Most people who buy general rv units are not full time, nor do they actually use their heat much. Full timers will use their heat and appreciate the floor registers. Although they could have put them in lest traffic areas. I like Matt and Will but I feel sometimes they latch onto the Manufacturer's RV trends way to much. I remember a few years ago whisper quiet A/C were all the rage, now not so much realized that they sucked for cooling and went back to traditional units although they have made them more quiet.
Thank you…It drives me crazy every time someone calls out floor vents as a negative. Clearly it comes from people that have had zero experience with floor vents. Houses have been built with them for decades. It’s far far more efficient in airflow then having a slew of bends in the ducting just to have it come out a wall. I currently have a Jayco Eagle with floor vents and I have 2 dogs. And nothing goes down the vents. They way people talked I was expecting mounds of dirt to collect in them when I bought the camper. Nope…nothing. And here is a tip for people. Buy replacement vents. I went on Amazon and bought new vent covers that closed so if you are worried about dirt just close them until you need to use heat. I also installed them with Velcro so I can just pull them out and clean inside if needed. But it turns out they were never dirty. The one thing I will say is yeah the manufacturers could try and design the placement of them better.
@@vtmkb I know. When speaking of price vs value these two completely glossed over the 15” boxed frame, 3 1/4” sidewalls, dual pane windows, independent suspension, disc brakes and all the extra cabinetry that this has over other brands. They mentioned the stuff but like those things are no big deal. These are features that full timers want. I don’t own a DRV but this video had me saying WTF more than usual. 🤦🏻
@@brentnelson1270 Exactly, most buyers and reviewers care about the lipstick on the pig not the guts and that's what sells, great marketers that pump the industry with new ideas and then use sales and youtube influencers to spread the word, heck Matt doesn't even know what Azdel is but it sounds cool and is a green based material that will never delaminate, again marketing, (is a good product).. DRV spends their money where it counts most. Unfortunately the average consumer can only see the fancy lights, colors, and latest gizmo they could care less about their frame, suspension, tires, sidewall, roof, cabinet construction etc. These same people will then complain 4 months later when their cheap e Rated china bombs blow out, or their a/c quits working as wiring came loose due to so much flexing of the frame and sidewalls. Also yes I understand that these high end units have trouble too. And also I bought a lesser expensive model too because that's what my budget allowed for but would love a Luxe , DRV, Riverstone. But I still see what DRV is, yes expensive, but those foundation components are not cheap.
I hope you aren't done with the awards?? I hope not!! A 100 categories of 5th wheels and 1 for travel trailers? Just bunk houses? No couples campers for us old farts? 😁
I dislike this trailer and would not buy it at any price. But I HATE the shower the size is good but whatever that black material it's made of needs to go. I hate the carpet. I don't like the kitchen or the theater seats I'd rather have a sofa. I like the dining table
Reputation won't carry them on this one. Sorry to say they dropped the ball hardcore. Carpet?! Clips instead of magnets?! Floor vents?! No backup camera?! I could go on but at this price point I think we all can see how disappointing this fifth wheel is. I could buy a different fifth wheel and the truck to pull it with for this kinda money and get way more for my money.

Plenum in HVAC terms is a fancy name for a distribution point of forced air. Basically more of a residential feature.
Instead of a tiny bathroom, I would prefer a buttler's pantry with a beverage fridge, coffee bar and a small sink bar style. Relocate the washer and dryer in the bedroom closet. What do you think ?

Cedar is a bug deterrent
Keeping it real….
Love the main bathroom, kitchen, closet, and bedroom are great. Floor vents 👎. No stairs wtf 😑. Assist should be mandatory for this price!
Great review, but very disappointing turn out for DRV at that price point. I also did not appreciate the lack of tile in the master bath shower.
Think the rear camera is in the license plate holder
Nice! BUT… at that price point, no generator, no slide toppers, no backup camera, carpet, floor vents, no hydraulic assist steps, paint lacking.

It's a nice unit but with a handful of cut corners. I'd spend half the amount and get 99% the same usability elsewhere.

Quarter mill and they can't include a generator?
Why doesn’t it have solar prep or at least come with solar panels on the roof for the price it should be standard solar panels on the roof and a a generator should come standard as well
It's a nice quality unit but for that price they should have painted the sides of the slide boxes. I agree with all your other like and dislikes
Love 💗 the video dislike that rv for the price and not the best Features features it could have although I do love all 💗 that kitchen
I’d save yourself a lot of money, and get a Jayco Pinnacle. Trust me, this isn’t worth this price, and a Pinnacle is every bit as nice as this, but for a lot less money.
$250k with manual theater seats…lol
For as much as it costs the recliner should have been electric ⚡️ and massaging with heated seats 💺
At this price point, I would rather have a custom made New Horizon!
I agree. That is a cross between high dollar and cheap. I have seen better and that price is ridiculous
What is with the shower? Looks like the inside of a ventilation duct....major dislike!
I'd like to add to the dislike for the price. Should come standard with solar, a generator, a rear camera, and slide covers.
Definitely way too high priced. Also, should have a washer and dryer at that price. And many other things you two mentioned. 👍👍Thank you! Thank you!👍👍💙💚💙💚🔷️

overpriced NORMAL 5th wheel..no thanks

I would be angry if I bought this rv & had to wipe off someone’s dirty shoe prints that they left on my furniture ..:
I hope you aren't done with the awards?? I hope not!! A 100 categories of 5th wheels and 1 for travel trailers? Just bunk houses? No couples campers for us old farts? 😁
Yes, overpriced for what you get. Nice 5ver but I wasn't blown away by it as i have been with some comparable brands.
That half bath was horrible. if they can't give you room to sit they shouldn't even bother.
Just too many no’s with this one! Overpriced and under delivers!
Do I see carpet? Hate it.
