I have nieces and nephews so I definitely understand where you're coming from. I have had to drive home more times than I would like just to have a one-on-one conversation with my nephew. The scariest thought is they they can become so lost in this world that they lose who they are and sacrifice themselves because they 1. don't know how detrimental their decisions can be; and/or 2. they desire to fit in without know they are perfect the way they are. During high school, the primary focus should be good grades and setting yourself up for a positive future. Have you ever notice, most of the "cool" people in high school are not "cool" adults (due to poor choices in high school)? These teenagers need positive role models in their lives and someone to talk to its a lot of negative peer pressure in the media as well as school and someone needs to let them know that somethings are not okay

I have four nephews who are 9 and under and I sometimes worry about being a good influence for them and being able to help them out with advice and other things when they get older. I remember having the same types of conversations with my younger sister who's 19 now, but I like to think that because I was so hard on her and all up in her business that I helped her make it out of school with no kids. Yes auntie! Tell her! My nieces & nephews aren't teenagers yet but I'm the oldest sister and tend to have to have these convos with my little sisters. Now that I moved to Southern California from NYC it's even harder to be there for my family...but I moved here to better myself so they can be inspired to do and be better to. Your niece seems like an overall good kid...these are the growing pain yrs girl. She's blessed to have such an awesome aunt and roll model. She'll do fine with y'all behind her like that.
