If you’ve thought about starting a handmade business, you’ve probably asked yourself ‘should I sell on Etsy’ (or, perhaps - should I KEEP selling on Etsy)?
Is it too late to start on Etsy as a handmade seller?
What are the pros and cons of starting an Etsy shop?
Should you sell on Etsy or your own website?
    Is it worth it?
You may have heard people say things like…
“Etsy is oversaturated, I’ll never get seen.”
“Etsy is full of resellers now, I can’t compete.”
“Etsy doesn’t care about its sellers.”
    “Etsy is horrible for reasons a, b, c, d…”
    And so on.
Basically - there’s a lot of chatter about whether Etsy is still worth trying in 2023.
Today I'm going to lay out the good - and the bad - when it comes to selling your craft on Etsy, and help you answer the question - should you even bother with Etsy?

WOW.... Good point: "The market is saturated... but if you're selling just on your own website, that's even worse because you're competing with the entire internet".
    That's true!

Since I turned off my offside adds, my sales have stopped 😢

Same! I turned mine off in January and February and had no sales and no favorites. Turned them back on in March and am getting favorites and visits again, but no sales. :/ hard to justify paying for them with no sales, but having them off makes me practically invisible it seems!

@Meridith Petriella yeah, it was very noticeable for me. It was like a sudden change. And I just kept thinking maybe it is something else. I even started paying for the Daily Etsy add, which is like a $1 a day and still no sales, and not many people are visiting my shop. I thought maybe it was my pictures as I started editing them on snapseed, and I think they started to look a bit unnatural. I am just not sure .

Have you looked at your offsite ads stats to see exactly what traffic they were bringing in? The stats should show you which sales came from offsite ads.

@Jess Van Den Hi Jess, thank you so so much for getting back to me. I will have a look. I remember that I got charged around $30 once for selling a mug to the US . The cost of the mug was only $45 Australian dollars, and the postage was $40. I almost made no profit at all . Not sure if that $30 offsite add was for only that one mug. It shouldn't be as it is only 15 percent. I will have a look . Thank you again.
