Just received this kit from Italeri by mail. Seems they changed the color of the sprues as mine were simply grey instead of this brownish-orange. It's also a shame that Italeri never seems to include any pilot/co-pilot with these kits. My new (2022 reissue?) Mil-24 "Hind" D/E didn't have any, and my Top Gun kit (with the F-14 and A4F) also didn't come with any figures. I find that very strange as even the "Easy Click" Top Gun F-14 that I got from Revell had tiny little figures for Maverick and Goose on the sprues. Guess I'll have to see if I can make some additional figures that I can put inside both my Mil-24 as well as the F-14&A4F. Not sure how though as I don't have a 3D printer, so maybe try it old-school and use the figures I have and make molds out of latex en then try to pour plaster in? Maybe that could work. Or maybe use resin that hardens via UV light? I have built a UV box for Retrobright purposes in the past so maybe that might work to make some 1/72 figures out of resin. EDIT: Just checked scalemates but my Hind wasn't a '2022 reissue'. It's still listed there as being from 2010 but maybe they've just been using a different color plastic at some point up until 2021; because at that point Italeri apparently released a newer version called "Mil Mi-24P / Mil Mi-35P Italeri | No. 1432 | 1:72" which also states that it comes with "new parts". I'm assuming this will have a solid underside and includes the twin-barrel autocannon as the Mi-24P model did away with the gatling gun and instead used a twin-barrel autocannon.
I have this kit in my stash, and I have to say when comparing with the real thing not all the panel lines seem correct. Also the rivets on the real MI-24 seem to be flush. So rescribing may be the best thing to do, as the model has the other details fairly correct. I got the excellent Pavla set for the cockpit, cargo hold and some external parts like the wheels. But I really want that cannon on the MI-24 in the video, it really looks badass on this thing, it's maybe there as an after market part or otherwise I have to scratchbuild it.
If you use Delux materials perfect plastic putty there is no need to sand it as it can be smoothed with a wet paint brush, cotton bud, finger even wet cocktail sticks. No need to go near the model with any sand paper at all. You can even reactivate this filler with water. Trouble is with a lot of modelers who haven't been modelling long enough is that they haven't made models with raised panel lines. There are other ways of dealing with raised panel lines without having to sand them off and rescribe.
Got the hobby boss mil 24 detail and fit excellent zevezda is also great try the zevezda ka 52 alligator bit of flash to clean up but a great kit all in.
Thank you for the review ! An older kit but... not many Hind on the market.. in that scale ! J's Work painting Masks makes a nice set of pre-cut mask for that paint scheme ! Take care !
Yes I have heard of the kit in question! with over 200 parts ... full interior details and all... Will be looking up for that one for sure... Thanks for pointing it out !
Not being a jerk, but isnt raised rivets more realistic ? At least for the panel joints, compared to real heli's. I've had a chance to look closely to UH-1 and AS-532 yesterday, they all had raised rivets; there are few recessed "screws" and those were for the little covers and stuff on the body..
Nice review mate! Did try this one once.....never able to finish it....fit is good tough! The glas is nice...but does not fit! Hahahaha. But with patience it can be made into a nice model! Not by me.....

I recived mine today.Same thing, gray not like in this video.
@@patrikvilding8998 Yeah, definitely looks like they changed the dye of their plastic then.

This kit I'm pretty sure it's from the 80s I got this kit and it has 1982 written on it so the flash is not surprising
The sprue looks like a Revell 1/100 Mi-24 Hind scaled up.

The Zvezda´s kit is a thousand times better, has 3 diferent kits versions, internal engine detail, the italeri for the money it´s all right

Cheers for the info Norm :)
That's too bad about that kit Lee... I'm sure with work it can be made to shine up. Not for newer modellers though.
At least it's not bin material. :)
