  • It is legal in Australia to find your own gemstones. When prospecting in Australia, there is a limit on how much gemstones one is allowed to take. You have to think outside the square and only pick the best specimens. Sometimes you have to smash a few of them to get to the best pieces.

Thank you so much for your videos!

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LizKreate I apologize! Australia has a (probably undeserved) reputation here for having the most venomous/dangerous animals. Every time I tell folks I want to visit, someone tells me that the wildlife will kill me. ;) As a biologist, I'd love to experience a whole new set of biomes. As an amateur gem/mineral/rock enthusiast, I would love to explore an entirely different geology. I apologize again if I offended!

    Hi Liz, great to see you and Wal again. As always you have put yourselves on to some great looking material. Lovely looking rock.
    I have a question, the chrysoprase at the beginning has a similar look to dendritic opalite with the grey streaks in it, can it be cabbed and worked in a similar way. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it can. It's softer than the Chrysoprase and I suspect it is a form of dendritic opalite/Turquoise but need to have it check to be sure. Testing cost too much.

    That red dirt is amazing to me. I know a lot of Australians hate it but I don't have that here on the East coast in the United States so it really just fascinates me. LOL and as you're chipping away all the rock away from the gemstone I'm thinking how crumbly it is and I could use that in my succulent soil LOL but I'm short it probably lacks the minerals that the granite has. But you really inspire me with your positivity. You're always so happy and positive. 💕

      @@LizKreate that blue color is amazing.
      So speaking of the rocks killing the succulents I'm now beginning to be able to see which succulents thrive on the high granite soil mix and which ones really don't like it. It's fascinating. So I'm making adjustments as needed and I think I'm finally at the stage where if I lose a couple here and there, then it's okay it's not going to burden my inventory. But with my soil mix and my new grow lights I'm seeing all these wonderful colors coming out 💕 oh! Speaking of that, I have a huge rubella that I just did a head shop yesterday. And it really did not like the soil mix, since I already chopped it can I transplant the stem into a different soil mixture or is it best I just leave it alone and leave it where it is this is the only mature rubella I have. And I want to give it the best chance to throw off pups.

      It's Chrysoprase AKA Australian Jade. In some Asian countries, they sell this as Jade and can be quite valuable.

    if I were you, instead of using a pick and hammer and shattering the whole specimen, I'd take home the big boulders and use a sand blaster or like pressurized water hose to get the sand stone off without shattering the whole bit. no?

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love to, but we can't. We're thousands of miles from home and have very limited time. We still gather other gemstones along the way. We just don't have the capacity to take home a rock that size. We also have an allowed weight limit to what we can take home legally. Thanks for watching.
