Like he mentioned at the start of the video you also have what is called MJK, which would more along the lines of navy seals - but more specialized. While these guys protect the coastline a big part of the reasoning behind having another more specialized section of marine commandos is to protect the oil and gas fields offshore which would be a huge target during an attack on Norway.
Marinejger kommandoen (MJK) is the Norwegian NAvy Seals, in the USA thewre are 2700 SEALs, in Norway 150. The Norwegian Marines are Kystjegerkommandoen (KJK)
I never looked at Brazil as 3rd world country.. Sure alot of poor people.. But they are Hight tech.. But it is HUGE!!!! Cant have Wifi in the jungle.. Just saying... Merry X-mas Brazil
That was not the words of the commandor of Oscarsborg early April 9. 1940...it was "Visst Fanden skal der skytes med skarpt", translate to something like "F* it, where shooting with live ammo". It was a calculated risk, it was foggy, and...yes... That was how they sanf the "Blücher".
Knowing Norway just as neighbors, it seems that this again has norsk-logic inbuild: defense is given as choice to everyone who wants and is capable. From those are selected the best of best for special training and hightech gear. Then they are given freedom to learn from selected situations abroad and to use those skills for common good for whole humanity. If actual crises or war should happen to Norway these special people are trained and practiced to handle that situation without dying or buy precious time for rest of the society to organize needed response accordingly.
And I bet that they are right about the size of their staff in special forces. Exactly by norske thinking the number is exactly right for current position and for the needs of it.
Yeah, they're 'Jaegers, so the closest designation is probably 'Coastal Rangers' And they're a notch or two above Marines in combat capability because they're Special Forces.
Haha, Alexandre is permanently in shock during this video 😂
I'm Norwegian, and this video was on the frontpage so I clicked it. Great video guys!
When you are able to operate in Norway's extreme climate and landscape, you must be made of special stuff.

Ok, the marine and the army is small. BUT we have about 40 000 in "heimevernet", and aqbout 130 000 losely connected to the defence trough thh DFS. ;)
Using the term Marines is a bit wrong.
