I saw this video just in time to pick up a couple of these plugins at a bargain on your page 👍 tried them out quickly on a track i started right after buying them..and boy..loved the result after only an hour or so into the production.
Tape artifacts yes. Nice sound. It also pushed it toward in to your face. You have to love software cause the hardware is expensive as he'll and must be maintained.
The final mix is better mixed and got more effects then just those 3 then whats showed in the video so it gonna look and sound better than what it is. Common trick for advertisment. But except that great video!
Makes me think of the movie "Brazil" where the people look at the computer screens with a big magnifier mounted in front :) - they really should get going on fixing that. Try it on a Surface Pro.
Here is the CHEAPEST way to add low quality on your music: JUST export your videos in the worst quality possible, then upload them to youtube. Or, better said, do not even bother: just export the video at any quality, youtube will take care of the rest and will compress the hell out of every audio/video material! There you have it.
I been trying to emulate how they did it in the studio including the chain of J 37 to Tg mastering board to the Abbey road vinyl machine, then in the post v comp and wave arts final plug, sounds pretty good. I am an amateur and I found that gain staging is the most important thing having a good mix you dont want to redline these emulators, or do you? I use mostly waves but the Toontrack Fender Rhodes piano is killer.
Save yourself a fortune and get the lo-fi sound at the same time, no plugins required. Don't buy expensive audio interfaces. Get a dirt cheap USB 1 interface and record in 8-bit. Also don't set it for a high sample rate, go for 22kH or less. Remember the lower the sample rate and bit depth the more lo-fi the results will be. People also spend an absolute fortune on high end, top quality microphones. You can get a great lo-fi microphone for €10 or even less if you shop around, and no need for phantom power either. Under no circumstances should you record in an acoustically treated room, that is the antithesis of lo-fi. Some people spend thousands of euro on expensive, brand named instruments and amplifiers. You can pick up an electric guitar for less than €50. Forget about amps or amp sims just plug the guitar directly into the interface - this works even better if the interface doesn't have a high Z input - you really can't get any more lo-fi than that. I honestly don't know why studios, both professional and personal, waste all that money on top quality gear when they really just want to sound like that.
Loved most of it, but for my personal preference I would've been way more subtle with the vinyl noise. I'd rather 'feel' it than hear it. To my ears it's too noticible here and it distracts me.
Depends what kind of track you're going for , for people like STL, deepchord or Huerco S it goes so well with their style of music. Can't beat hick layers of noise .
Like! I thought the compressor at the end was too much, but that's taste. Going to study vinyl vs tape. I don't need the crackle, but it may...have an analog warmth advantage over tape, when it's run clean.
Some fantastic stuff here. I'll have to try these for sure. I do have one question, though. Suppose I'm trying to make one track or the whole mix sound like it was recorded on a boom box. Would the techniques here pretty much just be the same except maybe with a little more low-end? The Abbey Road plugins emulate gear that certainty isn't a boom box so I guess that would mean my question is would the result be the same or is there definitely something different about lo-fi boom box as opposed to lo-fi vinyl/tape machine/etc.
Nice job adding the vibe. Quick question: For Noise and Crackle, why does the dials go below zero (to the left)? At the top there is no noise, so what is negative noise? What is "-inf" crackle since there's no apparent crackle when the dial is at the top?
I have Kramer master tape and the j37 I have used both on acoustic guitar but have never got a good sound I just got a lot of distortion from the presets any reason why?
at 5:00 can anyone tell me how to achieve this in FL Studio? sorry I have now idea how this software works so everything that is explained is a bit confusing, I just want to know how he did that with the kick and compressor
For people working with software don't let anybody tell you your music isn't real music! Keep creating!
Seriously, it's like telling an artist that their art isn't real because they don't use actual paper.
I use real instruments, so it wouldn't bother me.

The way you visually and audibly show and explain the plugins components at the same time is great
lol, Nice!! We're putting the dirt back in digital. Crazy stuff
Woah i never would've thought of using the guitar amp to get that kind of sound. That was quite creative 😲
The Abbey Road J37 Tape 2:15 is a must have, I use it in nearly every mix.

Great Tutorial!
Watching on my lunch break can’t wait to get home in a couple of hours to try these techniques. 😁
waves!

now i got client for lo-fi and don't what to do
but now, game change!!

Hey there!

Best how to I've seen on tape plugins. Thank you! Great commentary too
Advertisement done right. Well done guys!
Dope beat, j37 and abbey road plug -ins are nice.
and rc-20
I love this skeuomorphism design
Unique and stylish
Man, I would pay for a whole series like this. Any other videos?
lofi on the mainstream come up

What a great instrumental

The goat plugins!
fo real!
Funny how everyone wanted clean precise sound when cd's came out. Now we have plugins to try & replicate what we all hated.
Your before sounds better than my after.
Waves 10 and still no resizable interface.
4k monitors have been on the market from over 5 years.
Is too difficult update?
Shouldn't be problem for the money that Wave had from customers...
Montażownia nr1 Most people don't use 4k still...
The Navigator Even for HD some of the plugins are too small/too big.
Just update Renaissance plugins and we're guchi.
Makes me think of the movie "Brazil" where the people look at the computer screens with a big magnifier mounted in front :) - they really should get going on fixing that. Try it on a Surface Pro.
Best how to instruction video by far nice bro
Fantastic tutorial - thank you!
Wow this was amazing. I need to buy more vst’s!

Great video
Totally amazing.
lol ok and what about some programming so the velocity sounds natural and not like you are just hammering the piano?
astounding tutorial
This is amazing
I’m blown!!!
please put this out as a song so we can listen to the whole thing

its volume, dbfs (volume scale itb) is all in the negative. 0 dbfs is clipping so -inf is no sound at all and the scale works entirely in the negative
@@spencersmallbridge1496 OK, thanks.
good content!
feels good
Woooo!
This is such a GREAT tutorial !!! Thank you so much!! Quick question, can I use these plugins on any DAW like for example FL Studio?
out of these i only have the J37 and yes it works in fl studio. All of the plugins shown here should
Would love more info on the drums - is this a loop or something you spliced and laid down yourself?
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!
sweeeeeet
good work
That was a nice one!
Great video man! Specs on your computer? Seems like you have a lot going on with 0 latency issues.
Fire!
Or take a turntable and sample.
I wish your stuff works on my old computer 32 windows Vista
i hate vinyl cracks in lofi but i like tape noise or even just adding dithering.
Very helpful 🤟
AMAZING
I feel like Vinyl noise or Tape noise sounds better on the Mix bus or the Master. What you guys think ?
I use it on thé master
I just don't get it.
The piano was wide and after Kremer Tape, mono. Almost the same happened with J37.
What's the improvement?
That was great!!
Very nice
SUPER DOPE!!
That was awesome, yo~
Creative
Do your drums automatically sounds like that after mixing the pianos or did you mix them prior to mixing the pianos?
Nice!
Thanks for a great tutorial. Are any of these plugins free? I just registered and was a bit fooled, I thought the J37 was free for example.
Nice! 👌
Great but how can you detune the sound like does Izotope Vinyl ? I mush prefer the quality of waves plug in but I didn't find the option to detune
bravo
Real nice
That Ableton skin is dope, anyone know if I can find on the web?
go into settings/preferences
Cool!
what wold you use for a lofi vocal chain and master bus when making complete songs for lo-fi beats like this?
Nice
🔥 🔥 🔥
Sick
Did you add the compressor to the sample ?
me back in 2009 bashing my tapedeck to get rid of the effect when it was mechanical..
Yessir
What he using to navigate the knobs ?
Gotta love how the boffins got the sample quality up to 96khz for supreme clarity, then producers use plugins to shitty up the sound.
I need some help. I downloaded it but I don't know how to use it with Logic Pro X. Can someone please help me?
I have Kramer master tape and the j37 I have used both on acoustic guitar but have never got a good sound I just got a lot of distortion from the presets any reason why?
I'm crying
