Citation Needed ending with "I've been Tom Scott" each time always made me think that the rest of you ought to take turns being Tom Scott some time and let him be everyone's second favorite Gary Brannan or something.

Never mind subscribe, like and bell, watching a video all the way to the end is what I think helps get videos out there more. IMO, the algorithm feels very skewed towards watch time. Obvs, I appreciate all subscribers likes and bells, but I think watch time is what really boosts a video’s recommendation power.
Y'know what they say. Once a measurment becomes a goal it stops being an accurate measurment.
You can always tell people to like and subscribe, but them doing so is no proof that it's a good video.
Whatching the entire thing though, people are only gonna do that if it's good.
Finally, a youtuber that does not want us to jingle his bells!
I think it's a mix of watch time and click through rate.

I really don't think that's what Matt has in mind.
I don't think that's exactly planned by them, but it's nice for us fans as Tom gets his vacation, which is long overdue!

@@saltedmutton7269 honestly, here in Germany Elon Musk managed to insult quite a lot of people just by ranting stupid stuff against refugees (that would be in the end even unconstitutional) and endorsing our currently most neo-nazi party. Since then my Mastodon timeline doesn't look nerd-only at all anymore. Many people just have enough of ignorant tech-bros.

If I am not mistaken, YT takes quite a high portion of the money you give. Patreon is probably better.
@@Eliska_Premyslovna memberships would make it simpler and easier, meaning that even though the cut is smaller the amount of additional people joining would cover the cut
@@Eliska_Premyslovna Patreon take 5% TH-cam take 30%, but there's no Hasselhoff Hassle Hurdle™ (/ref) which can result in higher conversions. There's pros and cons to both approaches.
