@@KesslerWatsonMusic Thanks very much. Been playing since summer 2009. So nearly 13 years. But I played Saxophone/Drums/and most importantly banjo before that so I had a bit of a headstart. I find, having started so late - it slips back if I don't play a lot all the time. Are you playing fiddle?
@@oldtimewaster yes I've played on and off for the last 6 years but it's been slow progress. I am a left handed player and play upside down so I am working on figuring out the best ways to do it as my wrist gets jammed sometimes if I hang too long on the high strings like many fiddle tunes call for
I love your version and I'm trying to learn this tune since I'm in Surry Co. NC and it's played a ton up here. I can't quite figure out the low part. Are you using your 4th finger on the g string?
@@oldtimewaster that would make sense ha ha! Went to a jam this week and they helped me figure it out. I guess it's played several ways up here. Even Tommy Jarrel they said played it a couple of different ways!
@@thebiscuiteaters Yes I think the way Tommy mostly played it was often called 'Old Time Sally Ann'. Pretty similar to this but the A part is a bit dferent.
@@oldtimewaster so much to learn! I'm in a cool place though where I get to play and talk with folks that actually played with him and the other old timers. Headed to a dance tonight where Chester McMillan is providing the music. We've gotten to know him through local events. I do like your version though!!
@@thebiscuiteaters Ah I wish I was there! I have learnt a whole lot from studying Kirk Sutphin videos these past couple of years. Chester is playing on most of those.
Very inspiring fiddling Steve. I met even have a go myself
Thanks Bob. It’s been so long. Hope to see you again soon.
Wish i could accompany him with my banjo clawhammer ! Super fiddle tune touches my hearth thanks so much Grandpa Heinz Switzerland👍👍👍
Love, love, love!
I love listening to you fiddle
Thank you Ray!
The big one! 🎻
Excellent! Fine version. Thanks so much.
Excellent fiddling!
Thank you kindly Jim. Miss playing with you and Gail.
Very nice playing. Great
Thank you.
@@oldtimewaster how long have you played fiddle? Your technique is very smooth and very easy on the ears. Lovely

Interesting. Do you manage to swivel the fiddle depending which string you are on?
Smooth . . . one of the best versions I've heard.
Thanks!
It looks (and sounds) like he has music embedded in his DNA...
you make it look so easy and it sounds so fluent Steve. great job
Thanks Bob means a lot you know I love your playing.
@@oldtimewaster I'm enjoying trying to follow your bowing and rhythm right now - its like a master class
Thanks Bob. I wouldn’t want to take a lot of credit here- the master was Eddie Bond.
That’s a very cool version!
From Kirk Sutphin.

No I don't think so. Going up onto the D. AHHH I see! - You are in GDAE. I am tuned ADAE.

Long fingers or short fingers?
?
Question about your strap! Is it specially made or just tied around the jaw rest? I might give that a go
I posted a video about it. Where though? Have a look in my TH-cam....
@@oldtimewaster Will do, thanks mate!
