This week, I greased the rear shock assembly on my sons kx 125 03 model. The Barron’s were seized. So I used a torch on the inside of the bottom triangle bracket. It was easier for me to heat up the inside of the barrens than from the outside. They got hot faster and it was easy to push them out with a under sized and over sized sockets with a c-clamp.
A really good tip a old guy thought me was to keep your environment clean, ie garage, and put your tools away once you’ve finished with them. By the looks of it your doing a great job already preparation is one of the most important and the me consuming parts of building bike. Keep up the good work I love you vids bro
Great video! Quick tip, a better way to sort all the bolts nuts washers ect. Is to buy those clear plastic fishing lure containers and just write where/ what part the bolt goes to on the lid with sharpie. Then if you ever need to take off the sharpie, just get some carb clean on a rag and whipe it off!
Also, vinegar removes rust on all metal parts. I threw a bunch of rusted bolts and nuts off my kfx400 in a pan full of vinegar for a day or two and it took off 100% of the rust without any scrubbing or anything like that.
Just a tip put the bearings in freezer and they’ll pop right in the cases. And another if the pipe doesn’t come with seals, put some red silicone around it and wipe the access. Works great good luck very excited to see this as I have an 05 myself
Please Go in depth on what all is necessary for the conversion to a 17/18, kx125/250f restyle. By that I mean what subframe, tank, seat or any other fabrication or mods you need to complete the restyling of the plastics. Thanks!
I'd deff invest in a beed or sand blaster box. There worth there weight in golf for dooing engine parts exhaust everything. Would be a nice compliment with having the parts washer. Possibly a harbor fright sonic cleaner those are awsome for carbs. No need to take them all apart only the bowl let it soak for a hr and will look Bn hope this helps
Hey man just a helpful tip if you are going to rebuild the engine make sure you have all the recommended tools it helps a lot and when putting it back together don’t forget the little things like washers and what not but always use gasket sealer to help bond it really good I’ve rebuilt my cr and didn’t use enough it I had to tear it all the way back down but love the vids even though you probably won’t see this
Thank you for another update for the KX keep it up thanks for making a video we know you don’t have to do this but you do it because you like it and it’s your hobby
Love the build. Curious to see the conversion kits go together. You seem very meticulous about keeping thinus clean and I like that keep up the good work
I mess around with cars alot and I tip I got is take pieces of cars. Board and push the bolts through it label it and then once there in the cardboard you can spray paint the bolts so they look brand new
For the motor make sure you buy the right tools also I bought the tusk racing stuff good price you will need a fly wheel puller case splitter and fly wheel/ clutch holder when rebuilding watch Rocky Mountain atv video about rebuilding
I have a kx 250 2 stroke I rebuilt put the new crank bearings in the freezer and heat up the case halves with a torch and they should go in pretty easy
You should use factory connection for the suspension it is great and u should use scalvini bills or fmf for pipe and asv lever will burn up clutches for a 125
Yo Tyler you can mount the front number plate, fender and fork guards and they all match up but the front number plate is going to have to be ziptied on the two bottom holes through the the triple clamps. I have the same bike and want to do the same thing
Hey Tyler, You should do a full 125 engine rebuild! could come in handy. I'm new to motos i recently bought a yz125 and i guess one day in the next year i will be doing a full rebuild if you film the process of a top and bottom end and all the bearings it will help me a lot when I come around to doing mine. Thanks Tyler
Tyler I'm so stoked to see this all happen! All the hype and now the moment has come! Can't wait to see those fresh parts on the old 125! #TylerMonaganKX125
Ha Tyler when you go to reinstall you're new hardware don't start it with the impact driver. Start it by hand then use the 1/4driver or else ya gonna cross thread a lot of bolts.
Haha, same thing happened to me when I was doing my Yz125 restoration. Only difference was that the bike went forward too fast and fell off the stand when I took the rear tire off.
Looked like a nice bike before you tore it down but I'm sure when ur done it will look as sick... Are you gonna paint the frame or leave it as it is since everything is gonna be new.
also PLESEEE put a pro circuit works pipe on it !! they just look so much better then any chrome platium pipe !! the works pipe make them mint ! go oem look too maybe ? new silver rims and make it look original and as if kawasaki manufactured it !
If you are planning to completely rebuild the engine. I HIGHLY recommend looking up MathewMCRepair on TH-cam. He has a whole video series on rebuilding the top and bottom end of an older model KX250. You have to pay like $25 for the complete video series but it's so worth it for the detail he goes into. It will save you time in the long run.
Same weather all the time, sounds boring, wait your telling me there is hardly any trees? Well at least the houses are cheap right? Well at least there isnt to many people all over the place right? Well at least it has plenty of water for everyone right? Lol mostly joking but at least it has some great motocross tracks.

TYLER. Strip the bike down to the frame. Get the frame blasted and then powder coated whatever color you think is best. That will be 👌🏻👌🏻.
Never been more hyped up about a build! Can't wait to see how it turns out!👊

By a case splitter it helps a lot. And when you put the cases back together heat up the crank and kickstart bearings.

this thing is gonna look amazing when its finished
Thank you for another update for the KX keep it up thanks for making a video we know you don’t have to do this but you do it because you like it and it’s your hobby
You could get a ultra sonic cleaner for the small parts makes things look brand new!
Go in depth in bottom and top end in motor as well as carburetor please.. Love the series so far, keep up the great work live the channel bud.. ❤❤
I can’t wait till your bike is finished 👊✊
Watching your videos made me grab a YZ125 bro to start a build myself .....thanks
Love the build. Curious to see the conversion kits go together. You seem very meticulous about keeping thinus clean and I like that keep up the good work
I’m so exited I’ve wanted to see this done for a while
I mess around with cars alot and I tip I got is take pieces of cars. Board and push the bolts through it label it and then once there in the cardboard you can spray paint the bolts so they look brand new
Plus bags are. Kinda expensive
🍾🎉Here we goooo !! This is going to be sick, good luck on the build Tyler clearly every ones pumped for this one.
Tyler what I want to really see is the cleaning section and the making everything look new
This is gonna be hype! Can’t wait to see the final project
For the motor make sure you buy the right tools also I bought the tusk racing stuff good price you will need a fly wheel puller case splitter and fly wheel/ clutch holder when rebuilding watch Rocky Mountain atv video about rebuilding
lectron carbs are really good for kx125s, especially with a different sub frame
Dude really hyped about this build one of my favorite TH-camrs
Tyler replace you waterpump seals and bearings, they're a common thing to wear out on the kx series. They also wore out on my kx60
I have a kx 250 2 stroke I rebuilt put the new crank bearings in the freezer and heat up the case halves with a torch and they should go in pretty easy
For the fuel tank there's supposed to be little strap holding it
I had a KX 125 and when it got hard to start I put a top end on it. It always started frost kick. Also that tank is held on there with plastics.
I would like to see you go in depth when you do the bottom end.I have never done bottom end. The kx is gonna be awesome
Labeling things is a good idea. I wish I would have done that when I took my son's ktm apart haha
Tyler you honestly have the exact setup I want
Great video! Can’t wait for pt2 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm so hyped to see the finished product!
PROPER TOOLS IS THE BIGGEST KEY FACTOR IN REBUILDING THE MOTOR!!!!!‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Hey Tyler,
You should do a full 125 engine rebuild! could come in handy. I'm new to motos i recently bought a yz125 and i guess one day in the next year i will be doing a full rebuild if you film the process of a top and bottom end and all the bearings it will help me a lot when I come around to doing mine.
Thanks Tyler
I was going to save for a 2019 honda crf250r but you have inspired me to get a 2012 crf250r and rebuild it! Thanks for the great videos Tyler!
Watching this in class 😂😂
Me too
I've been waiting for so long and I can't wait for more videos on this!
So pumped for the build!!!
Tyler I'm so stoked to see this all happen! All the hype and now the moment has come! Can't wait to see those fresh parts on the old 125! #TylerMonaganKX125
cant wait to see this green machine gussied up
Your videos are one of my favorite ones!🤙
You’re going to have fun with the bottom steering stem bearing
awsome build man, looking forward to following this
Ha Tyler when you go to reinstall you're new hardware don't start it with the impact driver. Start it by hand then use the 1/4driver or else ya gonna cross thread a lot of bolts.
second time watching the build series.
Haha, same thing happened to me when I was doing my Yz125 restoration. Only difference was that the bike went forward too fast and fell off the stand when I took the rear tire off.
So excited for build 👍👍
Not sure if you got one, but there's lectron carburetors that are pretty good that would look sick on the kx125
You are my favorite youtuber
This bike is gonna be sick 🔥🤘🏼 I have an 01 kx 125 that I just did everything on too 🔥
Awesome video as always man! So excited for this tear down and the build! Keep up the great work man!
More of this! 10/10
Awesome so happy it started
Nice video your my favorite TH-cam channel
Make sure you have a hydraulic press to put bearings in
When you unscrew a bolt, screw the bolt back into the place so you don't forget where that screw goes.
U need to get a blasting cabinet it will clean all those grimy parts and make em look new
i just bought my kx125 !!! its awesome and made a video!!
Golden Tyres a must buddy!!
i hope your bikes come along nice keep up the good vids
Dude this video is inspiring. Thank you for posting and sharing. I subscribed 👍🏼
In depth with crank/ bottom end
I love the build it is sick hope to see more vids
Great video!
Looked like a nice bike before you tore it down but I'm sure when ur done it will look as sick... Are you gonna paint the frame or leave it as it is since everything is gonna be new.
Quick tip mentally prepare you're self for the crank case bearings lol still can't get one out of my blaster broke my tools twice
also PLESEEE put a pro circuit works pipe on it !! they just look so much better then any chrome platium pipe !! the works pipe make them mint ! go oem look too maybe ? new silver rims and make it look original and as if kawasaki manufactured it !

Love the vid and hype for the build...but I have one question what type of power washer do you have because I need a new one for cleaning my bike
start watching Cameron Niemela and get some knowledge. he washes his dirt bike part and explains what he uses to clean them.
I’ve learned a few things from him. Great videos.
He does watch his videos he shouted Cameron out last episode
joey saitta he's the best guy to watch I bet Tyler watches his videos 😂
Top and bottom end
Bike going to look sweet once its done..i prefer to use hex sockets rather than tee handle allen keys much easier imo.
You are a good mechanic good job
Finally and hello from Slovakia
Like these type of vids need to do a small build on the truck. Bumpers, hood, wheels, lights and leveling kit.
Coming soon...
Details are importand at bike builds if you want it perfect keep it up thumbs up for this vid
I would like to see the rear shock rebuild in depth
In depth of the carb and jetting would be cool
Did you get a new tank or do the new plastics fit the original tank 🤔
Please get one of those Lectron carbs for it those things are apparently awesome
powder coat the frame, subframe, and swing arm matte or gloss black
Thank you Tyler!!
Chrome fmf full system pipe and powder coat the frame gloss black
Fuck yeah! I’m so ready to see the transformation!
Kx 125 or kx 250f?
(Im deciding between these 2 for my first dirt bike)
Talk about what different parts you had to buy to fit all the 2018 parts I’m looking at doing this on my kx 125 2003
I'd like to see the bottom end
Where did you get your parts washer from? Thanks,👍🏻
Great video man ‼️ 👍🏻
Big fan from oaxaca Mexico would love to get that handle bar and raisers...really like your videos
Idk if you already are doing this but you should def put a Lectron carb on it
Yeah! Build!
“It’s super nice out here, it’s 65 today” (sees rain)... lmaooo come to Cali where it’s always 70-80
Faiz Akhtar it's 40 where I'm at in Cali
Same weather all the time, sounds boring, wait your telling me there is hardly any trees? Well at least the houses are cheap right? Well at least there isnt to many people all over the place right? Well at least it has plenty of water for everyone right? Lol mostly joking but at least it has some great motocross tracks.
Dope vid Tyler
Mint video Tyler
Less music and more talking us through what you’re doing.
Can’t wait for next video 👍🏻
