As an American this is so funny to watch! I do agree that Hershey's chocolate is kind of gross, but it's the stereotypical chocolate we put in s'mores. If you like the York Patty I recommend Junior Mints if you haven't had them. They're like baby sized York Patties that come in a box. Also, Pop Rocks are fun to eat if you've never tried them. :)

The best commercial American chocolate is Ghirardelli. If you can get some or have someone send you some I highly recommend it. If you go to Banjokanin's channel you can watch a Danish Girl taste test all sorts of Ghirardelli Chocolate. If you search "Ghirardelli" you will find videos of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Store and Ice Cream Shop in San Francisco.
We actually went to a ghirardelli chocolate factory in San Fran!! Very yummy !!! 🍫🍫
Well, that's the best we make. Did you try the Mango Sunset bar or the Cabernet Matinee bar? Or did you just go with the squares?
The Ice Cream Shop is really good also!
I also dislike Hershy's bars! I think they taste kind of like plastic - Cadbury is so much better. My favorite American candy bars are Twix and Snickers :)
Miss Mari We both LOVE twix and snickers but we get them in Australia so not counted :P
I live only a few hundred km from Hershey Pennsylvania; and Hershey's chocolate other than the cookies and cream are trash. Nestle is a lot better; and Dove blows away both (I have been told that it's arguably better than Cadbury.)
Ghirardelli chocolate squares are really good! Lindt chocolates are good, especially the lindor truffles!
Lindor truffles if you don't have them in Australia, they are sooo good.

I love Hershey Bars. But if you don't like the milk chocolate you should try the cookies n cream Hershey bar its white chocolate with little tiny cookies in it. I love that one!

Whatchamacallit is my favourite American candy bar and it's always the first one I buy whenever I'm over there. I also look for it in American candy stores whenever I'm out and about.
Here in Chicago, we have a local brand of chocolates, Morkes! They make good candies!
My absolute fave is Lindt chocolates. I'm not sure what their called but it's the little ball ones with the cream inside, it's doesn't taste like cheap chocolate because I absolutely hate cheap chocolate

Hersheys is made with sour cream not milk and that's what produces the weird after taste

I love twix, cadbury is good, I dont like the normal hersheys I like the cookies and cream. everytime I go for icecream I get that flavor.
We do like peanuts and peanut butter plus you’re candy’s are real candy’s i love and I love Hershey’s.

No, Payday is not a knockoff. It certainly is different to (from) most candy bars we have in the States. I'm not a fan, but a lot of us Americans do like it. As for Hot Tamales, bad recommendation. I'd never want you to have the impression that they're popular in the US. They're certainly not. And Three Musketeers is unique to the US. For all the Mars-brand products I've seen outside the US (Mars, Snickers, etc.), you don't find Three Musketeers in Europe or Asia. But all it is, is lighter whipped chocolate covered in milk chocolate. Maybe marshmallowy in the center's consistency, but there's no marshmallow in it.
Baha, I think your friend who recommended the Tamales tricked you two. I definitely wouldn't say the majority like those. I'd have same reaction as Jess. xD

They've more than likely had the 5 first mentioned ..they are popular in the UK and Australia has a lot of the same chocolate bars there too.

You should try nestles "100 grand chocolate bar" it is American and only cost about $4.05 aud/ $3.00 usd
Really surprised you didn't try a Kit-Kat but maybe you already knew about that one but if not it's great. It's crisp wafers in chocolate. Good stuff. Also Ferrero Rocher are awesome! Originally made in Italy and now made in Canada I think but they're fantastic chocolates. Also Starburst is good fruit chew candy. You might like those.
I like watching you guys but Hershey's chocolate is awesome! Maybe you had a bad bar or something cause as far as milk chocolate goes, Hershey's set the standard in America for good milk chocolate.

I know it was four years ago, but if you haven't yet, if you get the normal pack of Sour Patch Kids they are shaped like the little gumby! (Also, hershy's is cheapo chocolate, I don't get any vomit taste but its meh. I buy foreign if I want good chocolate!)

I know this video is almost 4 years old now but I just have to comment in support of Steve's feelings towards Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I'm American and I really do not like peanut butter in my chocolate! All of my friends and family think I'm crazy but American candies have far too much peanut butter in their flavors. Also Jess, great choice on the Sour Patch Kids! Next time you should try the original flavors instead of the watermelon.

I totally think the same thing about Hershey's chocolate tasting like vomit! So do apple Jolly Ranchers.
Hershey's tastes terrible b/c it 90% faux chocolate. They actually tried to get a court to allow them to make their chocolate with 100% faux chocolate but thankfully their case got denied. Cadbury is sooooo much better than Hershey's. No comparison.
Love you guys but can you clarify the vomit taste again with Hersheys? This is the first time I have heard this. Being a British Born Canadian, I grew up on both Hersheys and Cadbury's and have never tasted the aftertaste of vomit with the Hersheys plain chocolate bar. Maybe it was near it's expiry date? I have always loved the taste of both bars and brands, each providing a different flavour of chocolate, but still chocolate none the less.
P.S-When are you coming to Ottawa, On Canada? Canada's capital?

I'm the opposite of Stephen ahaha I haaaate peanut butter (in general and in chocolate) but reeses peanut butter cups are the only think I like with peanut butter

I'm Canadian, and I don't really like Hershey's all that much either. I definitely prefer Cadbury. I'm a weirdo who likes Hot Tamales though! I also love Three Muskateers, nice and simple.
What gets me is when they say they have two categories, chocolate, and lollies. Yet they mix the two back and forth. WTF The first thing you need to know about American candy is we don't go ATM!

Five years late with this comment as i'm gradually working my way through your back videos but i'm so glad someone else thinks Herheys has a vomit taste when I first tried some in the UK I thought exactly the same (sorry anyone who likes it)!

American here and I agree Hersheys sucks, it gives me that throw-up after taste. Swiss and Belgian chocolate all the way.

I hate Hershey's. Only thing it's okay for is s'mores. It's very gritty, bitter, and yer right about the vomit thing. It has that weird burny feel of puking.
Dove is way better. Smooth, consistent flavor all the way through.
Nestle's is okay for cheap chocolate. Best as chocolate chips in cookies.
Ghiradelli is just downright sad. It's got the same bitter acidy taste as Hershey's.
Lindt is a bit like Nestle's, but slightly better? The bitter/sweet ratio is more the way chocolate should be.
Godiva chocolate tastes like they are all dark chocolate, which if you like dark chocolate is fine. Like, even the milk chocolate is that way. Expensive though.
Wonka chocolate is okay. I prefer their other candy products, tbh.
Definitely enjoy these vids. Maybe do more than just chocolate and other candies/lollies and do some of the snacks too? Like chips/crisps, salty snacks, weird fruit snacks, etc.

We all have our preferences. I grew up eating it too, but it was never my favorite. I'm picky and am really sensitive to taste and texture. It's not as bad as straight baker's chocolate *shudders*. But to me, it's just not much good by itself unless I'm desperate for chocolate or am making s'mores. For others, it's their go to. That's totally cool too.
