    Bwahaha @3:17, that swimming joke holy ooof that’s dark but facts. For any who didn’t get it, it was a reference to Brock Turner, a collegiate swimmer who brutally raped a girl behind a dumpster at Standford and received a 6 month sentence (plus three years probation and lifetime sex offender registration) for his crime. He was given leniency due to his “promising swimming career” as Santa Clara County Judge Aaron Persky said a longer sentence “would have a severe impact on him.” This sentencing became a fairly major part of the “Me too” movement as many believe his sentence was an unjust and representative of the greater problem that “Me too” was seeking to bring light to

      The repetition was why Andy left Frankie left as his material never made it on the show despite him being the biggest draw then after that they were pressured to be more female friendly as female comedians all complained the never got material shown (they weren’t funny but no one had the balls to say it) and Russel Howard aka The little boy with badly fitting tee shirts got his own bbc 3 show. It limped on for a few years but was never the same

    • @douglaswolfen7820
      @douglaswolfen7820 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I remember the first time I noticed a repeated joke. High Dennis said something that sounded like it was completely off the cuff and improvised, except I'd heard him say the exact same thing three days earlier on the Now Show on Radio 4
      And like… I've got no reason to complain about that. Of course they're going to reuse a joke if it'll get a laugh. Getting a laugh is their job
      But it broke the illusion. I couldn't pretend it was all improvised in real time anymore. Made me think about how much effort comedy is, and how much work goes into making it look effortless

    This must be from the time that TV was funny. Long, long ago children …. before Daddy became Mummy.

    • @douglaswolfen7820
      @douglaswolfen7820 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You poor thing. The world used to be full of fun and excitement. Comedy was funny, food tasted good. Ideas were all new and exciting, or they were familiar and comforting. You still had all your hair…
      It's called getting older. The world _always_ feels like it's getting worse as you age. But it's not the world. It's just your experience of it. The TV you watched when you were younger seemed good at the time because you were still learning what good comedy looked like, and you learned to like this stuff. It still seems good now because it's familiar and nostalgic
      Plus it doesn't hurt that this video is twenty minutes of the very best jokes, cherry-picked from years of the show. Nostalgia is always like that. Twenty years later you can only remember the best bits, the iconic bits. So it feels like the past was __all__ iconic
      But no, it can't be any of that. It must be the trans people. I'm sure it's their fault that life doesn't seem as much fun now as it did when you were 17. Somehow

    • @douglaswolfen7820
      @douglaswolfen7820 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Incidentally, mummy is a lot happier now that she's transitioned, and she's a lot more fun to be around. She was never daddy, but she had to spend decades pretending to be, and that was no fun. She's a lot more relaxed now that she can finally be herself
      So maybe don't worry about it? Because it has absolutely no effect on your life, and it's just a stranger doing something that makes her life better. Good for her
      Or hell, maybe you should get to know her? She's pretty cool. She likes old comedy shows too. You two might get on

    • @gudgengrebe
      @gudgengrebe 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@douglaswolfen7820 I do see your point. In real life I don’t come across angry people insisting that I acknowledge their opinions about what gender they are. I remember when I was a kid in a little village in England and there was a local man who was a builder. He liked to wear women’s clothes. He didn’t look the least bit feminine and was obviously a man dressed in women’s clothing from head to toe. He still didn’t look anything like a woman. He stood at the bar with mostly other men, drinking beer and chatting normally. I asked my older brother why he dressed like that and he told me that apparently he dressed in women’s clothing most weekends. No one seemed to care and life carried on as usual. This was the early 70’s in a little Devonshire village. What impressed me most was how he was accepted. So that’s my real feelings on the matter of gender/sex. Tolerance and acceptance, not forcing people by law to accept the untrue. My joke on this website was only meant as a joke about Tv being better. Some of it was , but things have improved a lot. Although to be honest, I stopped watching TV at home about 20 years ago because I didn’t feel it was worthwhile. I didn’t renew my license. Now I use the internet exclusively. Anyway, I hope my explanation has lessened your outrage at my apparent intolerance.
