    TUSCANYNESS
Today the Italian architecture scene is getting dramatic: decline of suburbs, abandoned buildings, property speculation; in this context the architects are no longer a cultural landmark and a lot of young architects have to emigrate abroad.
Indeed, many centuries ago, in Tuscany, after a long period of deep darkness, few enlightened men gave to the world the formula for a cultural rebirth built around the mankind.
Even if those times are passed, can the spirit of Brunelleschi and Michelangelo be connected to the spirit of people nowadays?
Tuscanyness is a movie that tries to tell how this spirit of rebirth is still alive through the works and the words of architects both born and educated in the cultural atmosphere of Tuscany. In this enchanting Italian region the beauty is still a civil value, where is possible to experience the true need of establish an alliance with nature, or where is possible to live the unique opportunity to listen to the teachings of the past.

Meraviglioso!

Tear down the blight, restore the old historical buildings of value, expand on all that land with strategic placement in mind. Simple. Just start doing it.

Ispiratore e bellissimo! Tanto è vero per gli architetti italiani e di tutto il mondo. Dovremmo riprendere questa bellezza del passato, ma con una visione al futuro.

I began watching this with great excitement and above all I applaud the team for the work however, my excitement quickly washed off as the professionals started talking and the content turned towards what I'd describe as "European melancholia". By the end of it I actually even began to question if I dislike the classical buildings as much as their own work- at least from what little I could experience on film- and that I would state as a success of this essay as well as at least it did give me an unexpected perspective. I honestly don't know where the solutions might be, but I'm honestly so sure it's not in this "academic talk" that I got completely tired of personally as it obviously went on for the whole time these problems were evolving. Personally I started to pay attention to movie sets and storytelling more than all the books and fancy words and I'm sure anyone reading this will kind of get why. I just feel like maybe the start to the solution of this might be in agreeing that none of us has actually that much "smartness" to say. So in ending, again, I applaud your work and addressing the issues.
