You're welcome! Really happy about the 10-Bit color and the wide range of improvements thanks to the new sensor. Looking forward to the release of the Hero 11 Mini!🤙🤙
Excellent comparison. Thank you! The upgrades might not be enough for someone with 10, but earlier models or the first action cam, GoPro 11 is the way to go.

I got the 10 a few months ago, and was considering the 11, but even with a bit of extra sharpness and so on, I still find the 10 plenty sharp, and I'm happy with the colour. I'll just keep the 10. But if they can ever put a 1-inch sensor into the 12....then that's an entirely different story- especially for really low light!
Missed stating the benefits of the taller frame size on the 11. It let's you both make wide or vertical videos in post from the same clip without having to shoot it twice. On wide video edits it gives you more real estate to reframe/pan vertically in post as well
Great review/video Jordan (subscribed)! I use a Hero 10 for my videos (indoors, not low lighting but not nearly as much lighting as outdoors). Do you think there would be any improvement filming indoors on the Hero 11? (The reason I use Go Pros is for the stabilization, but always trying to see if there might be some improvements with the indoor filming. Thanks!
Hi Joe, I like your videos! We are big musical instrument fans. As far as stabilization goes, there is not a huge difference in low lighting performance. It seems like GoPro made a lot of improvements to reduce the jittery stabilization in low light on both the 10 (through firmware updates) and the 11 (from the get-go). You will notice the 11 footage is a lot crisper and more detailed in low light though, and I think that would make a big difference for your videos. Also, the new 8:7 Aspect Ratio might be useful for your perspective. I hope that helps!
Is there a noticeable difference for shooting underwater pictures/videos in the ocean? I'm going on a trip and want to get good quality shots and am comparing these two cameras. Thanks.

Thanks for the video. I have been using a video camera to film my dance class and then share parts of the video on TH-cam. My camera is really old and is now having some mechanical issues so I thought I'd replace it with a Go Pro. I need to be able to film a class that's 50 minutes long. I have a few questions regarding either of these cameras. Both clearly appear to be more than sufficient for what I would be needing to do, which is shooting videos in around my shop as well as on the road and/or race track for my new channel. What I’m looking for is quality as well as adaptability so that regardless of the environment I will have a camera that I know will work correctly. This will also allow me to not be worried about losing my cell phone and naturally the lighting. Naturally I’m sure the picture quality is going to be much better on a GoPro 10 or 11 than on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Like I said, I’m sure they’re both overkill for what I’m looking to do, however I’m always looking for future expandability so in your opinion which would be the best bang for your buck? When considering either system, I’m also looking at accessories as well. If I read correctly, you stated that the accessories are interchangeable between the 10 & 11 correct? Thank you for the information and great video.
Actually, the Hero 11 sensor IS larger. If you dug just a little bit deeper, you would have realized that the Hero 11 sensor is 6.40mm x 5.60mm compared to the Hero 10 sensor, which is 6.17mm x 4.55mm. If you look at my channel, I have a long history with GoPro cameras. Have a nice day.
I never owned a GoPro before. I’m going for a 1month trip to the Philippines in December and snowboarding in March 2023. I also need a camcorder while I do my auto detailing videos. I’m leaning more towards between GoPro11 or insta360 x3. What do you guys think?
About to purchase a GoPro for the first time and your video was very helpful. The horizon stabilization when turning the camera is an awesome feature. Question: Do you have a recommendation on where to purchase? Directly from GoPro, Amazon, Best Buy or some other location.
Hi Chris, Yeah the Horizon Lock really helps capture cinematic videos. I would look around. GoPro's website usually has some pretty good deals right now and you get a free year subscription. Check Best Buy and Amazon too to see who has the best price though.
It would've been nice to see a comparison between the 2 for night photos. I believe the 10 worked better for low light photos. That's mainly what I was hoping to see.
I just turned 40, and moving to Honolulu in a few days. I want to start a TH-cam channel on my new journey in Hawaii. I have ZERO knowledge about gadgets as I’m not tech savvy but want to learn. What would you recommend for this old lady entering the world of technology etc? 😊😊 Any suggestions appreciated! Mahalo
Didn't know either has a time of flight, live view in app. Definitely no go for me as I am mostly using cameras on the body of car, quite happy otherwise with my Hero8 that has this feature and I don't care about mini front LCD or non compatible with older gen, battery line. All I miss is the horizon correction feature of these newer ones. Well I'll wait to see what GP 12 has to offer very very soon, if not already out.
Curious if you think it is worth the upgrade from the gopro 9 to the 11. I'm using it mostly for shooting my hunts but also use it on beach vacations too.
Hi, The 9 is great too, but I do feel like you could benefit from that new taller sensor, especially if you are recording POV shots while hunting. Plus, the clarity in low light is really helpful if you are in shady areas (in the trees for example).
@@JordanHetrick Thank you for the information. One thing I wish I could do with them is zoom in closer during filming to get better video. Hard to see them when they are out 30 yards or so.

Jordan, I dug your video. I'm considering getting one of these, but one question for you. You briefly spoke about overheating. How do these do in the sun as far as overheating goes? For example, I've been using my phone to create 4K videos. Picture quality is great and really have no issues at all with using it. But the phone overheats and shuts down if I have it set on my tripod in direct sunlight for too long. I get that a phone has more going on internally, but curious if the GoPro would behave similarly in the sun. (I'm talking like 20-ish minutes in direct sunlight and shooting at 30 fps)
Hi JayGo, At 30 FPS, the GoPro has very little, if any, overheating issues, especially when outdoors. You should give it a try and see if it works for your scenario. My phone also gets very hot in the sun. The GoPro doesn't seem to be as affected by sunlight as it is by lack of airflow.
This an excellent Comparison video thank you . I think for the kind of use i have the 10 should be ok ,also i already have one. 6:05 looked like a smart phone under water. Nice.
Am i the only one whos not sure about the new aspect ratio? It looks very strange to me and makes it playback a little harder to see when out in the field. I know it makes it better for post editing, but still strange to me 🤔

I love my ten very much, they just have to learn to have a better compressor yes, if you go longer, it's gonna overheat or it's hot outsi just wish they had the same plug in for the battery for all of them it's all i'm saying
I’m very new to this and have little knowledge about these products but I really want to start filming my fishing adventures I thought the 10 would be adequate however having watched this excellent comparison video I’m opting for the 11…thank you for a excellent presentation 👍
i'm much more interested in the battery life specially when shooting at 5.3K. HERO10 battery life at this resolution is quite short. does the enduro battery works better?
Hi, Yes, the Enduro battery lasts much longer. Both of these cameras really run through the standard battery quickly, especially when recording 5.3k. I only use the Enduro batteries when I have one charged and available.
As of November 13 2022 GoPro Hero Black 11 is selling on gopro's site for $299 ($100 off the price in the video which was uploaded 1 month ago) what a price drop!
Hey, There is not much of a price difference and the Hero 11 has quite a few extra features, so I would definitely go for the 11. It's quite a big step up from the 10, in my opinion. Is there something about the 10 that is tempting you to buy that model?
@@JordanHetrick Thanks for the reply and advice bro. Actually I'm hesitating between these two because I've heard some mixed feedbacks, where some people told me that the 11 overheats and has a few bugs; and the the gp10 is better due to some of these issues. But my initial decision was to buy the 11; I got confused only because of some of those feedbacks..
Hi, Yes, 10 Bit Color is a Protune option that can be turned on or off. Even in 8 bit though, the colors look similar to the 10 Bit color. You can see an example of that in the side-by-side boat shot at 4:18. Those were shot using the Natural color profile. If you choose Vibrant, the colors will be boosted a bit more.
@@JordanHetrick OK becuae that's my biggest worry is that I will be trying to edit away the 10 bit colours effect and won't have the option to get straight away clean footage. Also Jordan do you know if Gopro is planning on adding Tripod Mode from the 10 to the 11?
Hi. First of all, thanks for a brilliant video as im looking for either a Go Pro 10 or 11. I'm a complete novice when coming to Go Pro. I've a very cheap Akaso V50X so the 10 or 11 is a massive upgrade. I do prefer the 11 but wondered about two things that I just wanna check before I order one. I know the Go Pro 10 can plug straight into a phone and transfer the data, does the Go Pro 11 do this. I can't seem to clarify it has that same feature. Also the Horizontal lock can it be taken off. I will use the camera for motorcycle vlogging and do want some turn by turn movement. Again thanks for the video. Thanks Tim.
GoPro made a few internal improvements on the Hero 11 to improve battery life making the Hero 11 slightly better than the 10, but they are still close.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on HERO11 Black, Jordan! Glad to hear you enjoy 10-bit color and the larger sensor. 💪

How long can they keep to this number scheme? I mean imagine years down the line.. "I'm really looking forward to the Gopro 32 release next year"
you have a link for that rectangler device that hold the gopros?
Hey Jim,
Sorry, I'm not sure where to get your hands on that mount anymore. It's called the GoPole Triad Grip.
This an excellent Comparison video thank you . I think for the kind of use i have the 10 should be ok ,also i already have one. 6:05 looked like a smart phone under water. Nice.
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad I helped show you which one is right for you!
Could you give link to download show the source videos in case i want to compare side by side myself?
Am i the only one whos not sure about the new aspect ratio? It looks very strange to me and makes it playback a little harder to see when out in the field. I know it makes it better for post editing, but still strange to me 🤔
Thank you for this. I have been having to remove the SD card before realising from your great informative video what the problem is.
what problem u had, can u say where he says that?
hay jordan i need your help i saw alot of gopro videos 10 vs 11 but the other videos maker says that gopro 11 is a big disaster and now i dont know which one to buy i stop buy gopro agter lossing 2x gopro 6 after swiming with dolphines and go to garmin but i like to gave gopro 1 more chance so o wont to go for 11 but i this wont you to gave me tip pleas help thank you
I love my ten very much, they just have to learn to have a better compressor yes, if you go longer, it's gonna overheat or it's hot outsi just wish they had the same plug in for the battery for all of them it's all i'm saying
Such an amazing review!! thank u very helpful
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m very new to this and have little knowledge about these products but I really want to start filming my fishing adventures I thought the 10 would be adequate however having watched this excellent comparison video I’m opting for the 11…thank you for a excellent presentation 👍
💥💥 11:45 I’m seeing the Hero black 11 on the GoPro site for $349
Waiting for GPH 12
Whats the 2nd track used in background for music ? Thanks
Great comparative analysis. I have both Hero 9 and 10 and will surely soon get the Hero 11. Thanks for the clarification
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful!
I'm thinking to get the 10 , is it still good?
@@Eswarr what did you get?
@@847lifestyle i bought the 11 ..its very good
Thank you for making this!
Your Review just sealed me the deal! I'm getting a HERO 11 :)
Nice! I hope you enjoy it! I'm still loving mine!
how do you like it?
great comparison video!!
I just bought the go pro 10 for 175 at target. Not sure if that deal is good enough to not just return it and get the 11
That sounds like a good deal to me! Not sure what the 11 for is going for right now though.
No reason to buy a Hero 10 (new) for $50 less right?
Within the first 30 seconds in, I'm sold!🤣
Nice. Happy to hear I helped!
What export render setting do you use as far as bitrate and vbr vs cbr? Your gopro footage looks amazing
Hi,
Thank you! I know some people like to use 2 pass VBR, but I have found the best results with CBR. I go with that every time.
@@JordanHetrick what bit rate do you typically render at? Thanks for the reply
i'm much more interested in the battery life specially when shooting at 5.3K. HERO10 battery life at this resolution is quite short. does the enduro battery works better?
Hi,
Yes, the Enduro battery lasts much longer. Both of these cameras really run through the standard battery quickly, especially when recording 5.3k. I only use the Enduro batteries when I have one charged and available.
@@JordanHetrick have you tested it in full video until gopro runs out? or just a few minutes?
How about auto focus ?
Can you use the Hero10 under water without the waterproof case?
Yes, it's waterproof to 33' deep, as long as the side door is closed.
As of November 13 2022 GoPro Hero Black 11 is selling on gopro's site for $299 ($100 off the price in the video which was uploaded 1 month ago) what a price drop!
Does the protective housing at 10:43 act as a media mode?
Very informative, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
under rated video great info man thank you
Hey you guys, help me. I'm thinking of buying my first gopro.
What will you guys recommend me between the hero 10 and hero 11??
Hey,
There is not much of a price difference and the Hero 11 has quite a few extra features, so I would definitely go for the 11.
Thats amazing features for go pro 11
Yes! Loving it!
Jordan, do you still have the option to shoot in 8 bit colour on the Gopro Hero 11? If so will the sky look similar to the Hero 10?
Hi,
Yes, 10 Bit Color is a Protune option that can be turned on or off.
@@JordanHetrickhey man, did you set the sharpness to medium or keep it to low on these shots?
so that subscription is free?
thank you for this review
My pleasure!
Thanks Tim.
Great video, thank you
I wish to have Hero 11!
I hope you get it too!
Which one has longer battery life?
GoPro made a few internal improvements on the Hero 11 to improve battery life making the Hero 11 slightly better than the 10, but they are still close.
go pro hero 3+ and 4 can shoot open gate box video for next fixed on 16x9 format
Quick question: Who makes the Grip/ Mount in the intro this Video.
Thanks
It's the GoPole Triad Grip, but I'm not sure if you will be able to find it anymore.
@JORDAN HETRICK Thank you very much 😊
Ada sedikit beberapa perbedaan, namun hero 10 jangqn kecil hati ,hasil nya masih serupa
