Volk is so scary because he is always supremely confident. The fact that he was playing to the crowd and more active against Islam on the ground is ridiculous. He doesn’t downplay his opponents, he gives credit but always shows that he is prepared and able to contend anywhere.
it doesn't hurt that he's got freakish athletic abilities either.

@@user-ht7qh6oo7x thats more than a reach. sounds like recency bias to me. volk and islam dont have enough title wins to be in that convo. will they end up clearing their division ? Yes of course. but it hasnt happened yet. so calling them goats is premature. a big factor that prevents them 2 from being number 1 is the body of work. once they take out the top tier competition , then we can begin that convo. I get tho volk beat max which is a very big accomplishment, but just cause you beat one top tier guy, that doesnt hold that much weight

Take downs and ground and pound are going to be a huge part of Volkanovski’s game plane. Just watch. Volk will be too careful to get submitted as well and his grappling has only improved since the Ortega submission attempts. Not to mention he’s being training with craig Jones non-stop. Volk will tire Yair out on the ground and then start piecing Yair up on the feet.

That Brunson and DDP fight was a horrible watch, both were completely gassed by the end of the first. Brunson gave up and let DDP finish it, Whitaker is going to massacre that poor man.
Likely, though I wonder if Whitaker does the smart thing and gives DDP no chance to touch him in the first or the fun thing, going straight at him? Whitaker will probably just fight, but that gives DDP a chance, however small.

I think after Volk managed to escape Ortega's sub attempts he would be fine against Yair. Plus like is mentioned in the video about that Frankie fight, i was thinking that wrestling maybe is still Yair's achiless heel and if Volk could avoid his ground game maybe we would expect an another vicious G'N'P like the Ortega fight.
He escaped Ortega’s subs (x2 in perfect position) and Islam only had one sub attempt that was not close. So chances are Yair doesn’t sub Volk. Also Volk wouldn’t have tapped when Emmet did, he would have got out or slept.
Yair is not going to try to take him to the ground. He is a creative striker with lethal kicks. He will still probably lose, but you are underestimating the fastest, longest, most creative fighter in the division

@@ZigliY I never would have guessed. I just looked it up, and Haloway is 5' 11" and 69" reach. Yair is 5'11" and has a 71" reach; and Volk is a freak at 5'6" and a 71" reach.
@@ZigliY thats just arm length from tip to tip. but that changes dramatically when one of the fighters is that much taller than the opp. so yair def has the reach advantage. i still thinks he loses, unless he happens to catch volk with something crazy

The problem with what Sterling says, is Volk's small body an advantage for defending takedowns and escaping from submissions? His neck is so small, legs are small, there is hardly something to hold, so if they were same height would thaf be an advantage for Volk's defensive grappling? Also Volk's weight was equal during the fight as well they cut to 155 and Australia only gives 24 hours to rehydrate not 36 hours, and Volk's arms are long, even has longer reach than Makhachev's
Am I the only one who thinks Yair has a great chance at winning this? Volk lost to Islam mainly because he was kinda fighting on the outside. Name someone in the FW division that tried to fight Volk on the outside and didn’t try to box him.
He'd have to land a perfect shot, Volk doesn't give those up often, so he has a chance, but definitely not a great one.

Yair is very dangerous off of his back. And its very likely Volk will get the fight there where Yair can work his guard game. Whereas Islam couldn't really utilize his submission grappling skills against Volk because his takedowns generally got thwarted.
