A bit of history: In 1968 I ran on a team that won the Canadian U18 championship in this event. We ran 400, 200,200, 800. I ran a 21.6 for the first 200. I'm sure we weren't as fast as this team, but it was much fun. We had to get on the bus to the airport with spikes still on and never got our gold medals.
They even said that Bullis came in 3 seconds under the national record before this event. It must be that these times weren't run in sanctioned races for the times to be ratified.
I wouldn’t bring race into this now. I’m sure the ignorant people in the comments would say the same about anyone that celebrates with a record on the line.

Quincy has great speed but he has poor form and he lacks the maturity to control his position in the lane. At the international level he will be a 800m runner and he will have to work on his race maturity.
Bro what?? He has the potential for the 800m but aint no way you're saying that when he's broken 46 as a freshman. Not to mention, not being able to control position in the lane doesn't mean he should move to the 800 lmao. He doesn't have a problem with this outdoor.
@@Kenaz2226 He's not strong. He is quite weak. He is fast because he is very light and has an incredible stride length. As I said last year after the Penn Relays, he reminds me of former 800m runner Mark Everett. That will be where he tops out in ability and at the international level he will move from 400m to 800m.

Props to that 800m runner, went out alone and dropped a sub 1:54 when the pressure was on.

Cool story.
In 1971 I won the gold and we set a new record. We didn't lose in three years and set records every year.
So nice to see a great start building confidence amongst the youth, a great reminder that through hard work comes great results. Congratulations!
👋💪
This was a race that was won by the faster team because they were faster.

Quincy ran first 200m in 21 and it looked like he was jogging. That kid is the real deal! If he stays healthy, the sky is the limit.
Splits?
Amazing............wow!
Bro I got cooked in 400 meters this kid in my heat ran 49 seconds in 8th grade 💀
