Question for Gloria-- if some of my two-strand twists have loose areas in them, will they eventually form tight, smooth locs? I will be at 6 months next week. Thank you, Alexis, for your gentle disposition.

I really don’t have a schedule… I just listen to my hair when it needs to be washed.
And I retwist my hair once a month… one month it’s in the beginning of the month, and the next time it may be at the end of the month, and the next month, the middle of the month…
Idk if that’s bad or not.
I use water and castor oil. My hair loves it

    I rarely use products now
What I start doing is take a shower without a shower cap, it lightly dampen your hair and also steam it and that helps with the fluidity of my locs. I also don’t use oil on a regular basis, I only oil it for my usual Loc appointment (when it’s time for a retwist) since oil can be heavy on your locs and it’s cause dryness so I rely on my natural oil that our scalp produces and it helps!

Hi Alexis another beautiful video. Locs are very uncomplexed. Don't want to use the word simple but they are. Clean and separated is all they need. I spray mine with rose water, rosemary water and aloe vera juice. As for Ms. Gloria I need her information as I plan on coming to the ATL in Dec. So she can wash and retwist my hair. Have a blessed week. Agape.

I haven’t been on your channel in awhile and wow you just look beautiful and your skin is glowing. Your smile and laugh are captivating. So youthful and pretty and your locs are gorgeous. Ok Gloria why aren’t my locs staying locked at the roots. I use a loc ing gel for my retwist s that I am still having to retwist weekly because some just come all the way out and majority are not loc ing at the roots. Roots always loose and nappy. I’m almost 4 months in. I don’t use a lot of products on my hair just some natural oils to keep it moist. I no longer use rose water because water makes my hair nappy. When I retwist using loc gel I clip at the root with clips and also midway then I sit under a heating cap for around a hour and a half. I always keep my hair wrapped when laying down in a silk scarf and bonnet. What’s your solution for me?

Place your clips at the end of the new growth/ what you retwisted. If you put it too close to your roots it’ll have a hard time drying and staying in place.

Question for Gloria : I am 5 months into my loc journey using the braid loc method. I am seeing a tremendous amount of progress and loving it. However, I am only seeing a lot of budding in my back locs rather than my front. Behind my ears my locs are also budding. My fear is that the very front locs will be thinner than the sides and the back. Also, I love wearing head wraps as styles. Is this bad?

Question for Gloria - I’ve started my loc journey 2,5 months ago with 2 strand twists . It has been unraveling a lot at the ends but not at the roots. Will that slow down my loc’ing process ? And what methods can I use to stop it from unraveling ?

So I am less than one month loc'd and started with 2 strand twist. My natural hair was arm pit length. I am used to wearing 2 strand twist but not with the intent of locing.
Ok so my question is this... at night I pull my "locs" back in a ponytail and place the scrunchy down the length of my hair to stretch a bit and tie down with a scarf or bonnet. This is honestly to keep the appearance of my length. The rest of the day my hair is out and uninhibited/free. Is this detrimental in that it prevents my hair from locing, budding and bunching by putting that one scrunchy, again down the length of the loc for those overnight hours?

Please please stop using all these oils it’s way too much plus the oils just end up on your pillow and hands. I have been loc for a year and a half I wake up I use a bottle filled with bottled water and a little spray bottle conditioner or aloe, spray lightly not soaking my head where it’s running down my face or back ,that’s it and massaging my scalp my locs are so light not weighted down nothing is on my pillowcase. I shampoo and condition once a month and don’t twist my hair I separate my locs and wrap the stray hair around the bottom of my hair, this keeps less stress on my loc hair from any thinning out from twisting
