Spot on Sir been doin mono main line and fluorocarbon leaders. Like the invisible aspect and weight as u say to hug the bottom. Hadn’t thought of that much length 20’ ft but makes better since as well as the light stretching. So great tips as always and thx much Sir Leon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very very good video leon I use fluorocarbon for 90percent of my fishing and its a topic other anglers always debate and your video layed out the pros and cons very well thanks
I rate the stuff as a rubbing leader if fishing near rocks or sharp gravel/mussel beds due to the toughness but can't stand it as a mainline, it's a pain to cast and take care of and while it does sink better that mono it's far from pinning itself down. In testing I've found that mono settles just as well after about 2hrs once it has taken on some water and lost what little buoyancy it had, in fact the mono settles better over a lot of things due to the added suppleness whereas the fluoro tends to sit up in loops. In the end the cons far outweighed the pros for me, tried it for a year but never really felt like it was helping aside from a few very specific scenarios. Claims of "invisibility" are a based around marketing and a misunderstanding about how our eyes and fish eyes differ but that is sort of beside the point, if it gives you confidence then by all means continue but at the same time I wouldn't expect to see your catch rates decline if it suddenly disappeared from the shelves
Leon , when you say you would clean your leader , what would be the thing to use ? Cold clean water ,warm water or just a clean rag ? Great info as normal , keep it up black chicken guru .
sorry I am not around much atm mate but defo not well been feeling crap for 2-3 months now , test show no cancer but leave loads unanswered , anyway another great vid but good straight up info , keep it up as I know you will , catch you soon I hope .
i will mate nice one. Also im thinking of of joining FAS would that ticket allow me to fish sandhurst and the other lakes on the yately complex? thanks in adv.
Leon could you do a video on hook patterns please i'e. Chod, long shank, curve shank, outturned eye, inturned eye, crank hooks and what rigs you'd maybe use them on. Thanks mate 😉👍👍
Brilliant vlog again Leon, just a question for you Leon I'm liking the idea if the fluro leader but not to sure on what would be the safest set up as I normally fish with inline leads with tubing and don't think this would be a safe set up to use.
Hi leon great vid and tips, what reels are you using are they the new tournament 5000 black editions?i have recently purchased a set, what upgrades would you recommend to improve them cheers mate.
Hi Leon, first loving the channel and thanks as always great watch. For me, best carping youtuber online. The carbon monoxide alarm you showed in one your vids, couldn't find link attached so any chance of one in reply? cheers
LEON BARTROPP CARPER great, thanks for the info. I’ve just started using a helicopter set up in a reservoir close to me. Quite silty in places. I used a 1 meter length of fluorocarbon as a leader at the weekend. No tangles as yet. Now I’ve seen how you do it I’ll use longer After you explained it. Thank you
@@LEONBARTROPPCARPER i used a korda fluorocarbon hooklink with a ronnie rig because of its rigidity when casting to stop tangles etc but it lost its rigidity after one session , does that sound right? what other stiff hook links would you suggest please leon ? thanks.
hi leon..first time using fluoro..iv bought some 15lb for mainline for snag fishing and goining to use a unleaded leader with it..would this be suitable..and would you stretch out the mainline to take the memory out of it..thanks
LEON BARTROPP CARPER thanks Leon.. is 15lb enough or would you go higher for the mainline...or just use a strong long leader some big sturgeon in there aswell and carp to 65lb...also would a flouo snag leader be better or unleaded..just thinking or the sinking factor with being locked up ...sorry for all the questions....great vlogs by the way mate..

Good solid advice Leon . I like the idea of fishing flouro leader with a flouro mainline and regularly change the leader , thanks 👍
Glad you took something from it matr

i use Tigerline,have done for years......unbeatable
Good line that on I believe
X line for my leaders if I ever need it in 20lb 👍 nicely explained leon
Can’t beat the Xline
Sorry bit behind on your vlogs..catching up slowly lol...great tip there using as a leader ..great vlog as always
Glad you like it Dave
Just picked up some prologic fluro, that im going to be using as a leader come spring time.
Let us know how you get on with it
i will mate nice one. Also im thinking of of joining FAS would that ticket allow me to fish sandhurst and the other lakes on the yately complex?
thanks in adv.
Sandhurst is a day ticket water you can get loads of info on the website
Hi Leon, what about fluorocarbon coated line,I’ve just got some ultima line is that any good??
Thank you very much which brand mainline i should use
Lots of different options out there
I've got 2 reels loaded with mono and I live and u get a spare spool with it and I might put some fluorocarbon or some 12 wychwood line
Let me know how you get on with it
LEON BARTROPP CARPER ok will do
Hi Leon ,
Regarding Water Temperature & Zigs in Winter,
What Temperatures would you start to Fish higher up in the Layers ?
Thanks
I find the temp doesn’t matter it’s all about the air pressure, anything above 1010 I go up in the water
Leon could you do a video on hook patterns please i'e. Chod, long shank, curve shank, outturned eye, inturned eye, crank hooks and what rigs you'd maybe use them on. Thanks mate 😉👍👍
Good idea
Definitely a good idea..
Leon what knot do u use for tying a fluorocarbon leader to your mainline?
Carrot knot
Hello buddy what knot you use to tie the fluocarbon to mainline can you use the back to back griner. Thank mate
You can use the back to back grinner if you’re in a rush but I prefer to use the carrot knot these days
Thank you Leon 👍
Brilliant vlog again Leon, just a question for you Leon I'm liking the idea if the fluro leader but not to sure on what would be the safest set up as I normally fish with inline leads with tubing and don't think this would be a safe set up to use.
I use a drop off system or you can use an inline drop off
Wots the best knot to tie a fluorocarbon leader onto my mainline Leon?
Back to back grinner
Nice tips there Leon 👍🏻
Thxs mate, glad you enjoy d it
Hi leon great vid and tips, what reels are you using are they the new tournament 5000 black editions?i have recently purchased

Hi, those are the SS3000
Hi Leon ,was waiting for last night's live show ? you never turned up
Sorry Brian I had computer problems but I’m Live tonight at 7
the pic quality seems greatly improved have you upped your lens or camera ?
I use a different lense for the vlog as it needs to be wide angler to the other vids

Here you go mate bit.ly/CMAlarms
Can you tell me which main line I should use for carp fishing
A good 15lb one
Do you stretch your leader every time you use it? Great video as always 👍🏻
Not always, only when it needs changing
LEON BARTROPP CARPER ok thanks
Hi Leon. Would you use any tubing with a fluorocarbon leader to prevent tangles or do you find it’s not really an issue?
I use tubing when I’m using a clip system always prevents tangles
LEON BARTROPP CARPER great, thanks for the info. I’ve just started using a helicopter set up in a reservoir close to me. Quite silty in places. Glad it’s helped
Leon, fluorocarbon hooklink rigs , what is the lifespan on them? Do you change every session or can they be used over and over? Thanks
I tend to play it by ear and look at the hooklink and If it’s ok I’ll keep using it
@@LEONBARTROPPCARPER i used a korda fluorocarbon hooklink with a ronnie rig because of its rigidity when casting to stop tangles etc but it lost its rigidity after one session , does that sound right? what other stiff hook links would you suggest please leon ? thanks.
Try steaming the hooklink over a kettle before casting out
@@LEONBARTROPPCARPER thanks
Nice one leon 👌
Glad you enjoyed it
leon, im a beginner , do you use leader line for every setup? i thought you tie the weights and rigs onto the mainline? am i doing something wrong?
You can tie directly o to the mainline no problem
@@LEONBARTROPPCARPER thanks
Top Notch info 👍
Glad you liked it
Good vid mate
Glad you liked it
What flourocarbon would you suggest to use? I got two new pits for Xmas but unsure on what to put on then. Cheers
Depends how far you want to cast, uoto 60 yards I’d say xline
Looking for all round line. I go to linear alot but also fish a small intermatelake LEON BARTROPP CARPER
Then maybe the gardner mirage in 14lb be your best bet
Spot on appreciate the reply! See you in the next live stream 💪 BARTROPP CARPER
Thinking of changing to fluro any recommendations? I like the idea of using in a leader
A few good ones out there
Hi how would you tie the fluro to main line thanks
I use a back to back grinner
LEON BARTROPP CARPER
do you have any problems with the knot catching on the cast?
No problem at all the trick is to do 2 turns with the thicker material and 3 turns with the thinner material
hi leon..first time using fluoro..iv bought some 15lb for mainline for snag fishing and goining to use a unleaded leader with it..would this be suitable..and would you stretch out the mainline to take the memory out of it..thanks
Maybe stretch out the final 20 foot unleaded leader ok also

I’d be using 18lb minimum for fish that big
LEON BARTROPP CARPER I'll go with 18...would you use flouocarbon leader or unleaded..cheers
I’d use a fluro leader so I could change that every month or wo
👍👍
I love Daiwa tournament flourocarbon.
Sinks like a stone, 1200 mtrs for £20.
Kontour is £20 odd for 200 mtrs and to tell the truth, i dislike it.
