Yes, the level of skill it takes to move your hands with such finesse and yet conjure such tricks is amazing. We should watch magic shows like we do stunt performances, as they too perform stunts of illusion, to trick the mind into believing that the trick is impossible to conjure up.
It's a good thing this guy went and put on that mask to show us how they do all those illusions. Firstly to inspire us all to learn magic but more importantly to STOP MAGICIANS FROM REPEATEDLY PULLING OUT THE SAME STALE OLD TRICKS.

Bullshit, to invent a new trick requires a lot of time and thinking, trial and error. You see the kind of untalented magician is this guy: minute 2:02, you can see the dove in his hand, at 4:54 you can see the duck head in his right hand. He switched to trick revealing because he couldnt succeed as a real magician.
He talks about why he did it when he revealed his identity. Personally, I remember watching those specials as a kid and it made me even more interested in magic than before. It's the performance that makes it epic.

Knowing had the magic works doesn't hurt what is at the end of the day a performance. If anything you get a greater appreciation for it. Seeing a movie get made after watching it doesn't hurt the movie either, but again you get to see all the hard work that goes into it.

i'm actually really impressed! the show sometimes goes slowly because he has to do everything twice, and i naturally try to figure out what he's doing, but watching this and seeing so many tricks back to back was cool. i laughed out loud when i first saw the duck.

Yep, you can see when he grabs the ducks from behind the box, but he throws your attention to the flame!! If you wouldnt have mentioned the beak, i would have never seen him grab the duck!! :)

First of all, words "illusionist" or "magician" should be substituted by word "performer", "actor". So you are right, he is not an illusionist. It's about performing a play. And you are right, this one is not good. Afterall, this kind of show is out of fashion nowadays. The only person I can watch doing tricks is Derren Brown. Sadly, the best way how to enjoy the tricks is being part of it, which is not this case where audience sit still in their seats and watch mediocre "magic".
First, remember it's for TV, so they show you want they want you to see. Second, if I remember correctly, this trick was performed at a place near some kind of a large door in the Great Wall.

The "same old tricks" done well, can be akin to a great piece of classic music. It's my opinion (MY opinion) that therein is where their value is validated. People still really enjoy them! I fine it shameful that this man sold out our art for money. Especially after seeing this impressive performance! He did NOT help our art develope by his exposures!
