Great job Paul. So good to see the underside of the car so solid and rust free. Maybe the hotel manager only visited in Summer. You’ve got yourself a peach there. I would say good luck but I think in life we often make our own luck. You are making me want one of these. 😃
It's astonishing how far this beast of a car has come... I wonder if the previous owner (s) are just a wee bit envious... 🙂☝️ In fairness to the previous 'Grease Monkey,' the generous coating of grease on that brake mechanism, has probably preserved it and kept the tin worms at bay. A pain to clean, but left it all intact.🐒
I enjoy watching brake work being done. It's great to see your emphasis on safety. Rolls-Royce brakes have always been a faff, whether it's the Hispano-Suiza designs prior to the Silver Shadow or the Citroën style brakes you have here. Indeed...you could make content on the brakes alone for ages. 😆🤣May your road to M.O.T. be as smooth as your Rolls-Royce's ride. Aloha.
The MK2 Jaguar has separate handbrake pads and pivot carriers (handbrake operated.....not foot operated). I'm guessing you were keeping an eye on the brake fluid level in reservoir when you were compressing the cylinders in the calipers.........I know you can't show everything you are doing in the video. What a fabulous purchase you have made with this Rolls Royce Paul. It couldn't have gone to a better home. Ron, Glasgow.
@jaguarladdie different braking system on the RR . (No Master Cylinder) and reservoir is sealed and much bigger than a normal system with a Master Cylinder
Great job Paul. I did this earlier in the year but separated the calipers and put in new pistons and rubbers. The handbrake is certainly confronting when first looking at it. Cheers Eric in Adelaide, Australia
Those tiny handbrake pads put me off. Handbrake has to achieve 16% to pass an MOT and, in an emergency, it is your secondary brake. Good refurbishment work though.
@@life_on_cars You seem to have it working to maximum efficiency but with tapered pads there is so little contact area when new. Curious how much good it is as a secondary brake on such a heavy lump.
Peach of a car, a real find and steadily being brought back to its former glory. Looking forward to the next instalment!
Excellent work, Paul, and another very satisfying result. Well done!
Brilliant job Paul, those brakes look amazing now. Really enjoying these videos. Keep em coming mate.

You make it look so easy Paul, I’m sure it’s not……..skills pays the bills 👏

Great job your garage is so clean wouldn’t like to spill oil on the floor 😅😅
Nice one Paul, i've always stayed away from the brakes but after seeing this, going to look at mine next year. Thanks mate..
This car will be such a treat next summer.....you will winterise it I guess once all the jobs are done.😊😊😊

A thorough job well done. The overhauling of the brake piston seals will provide future peace of mind. Dave Birmingham
Very informative video,so well engineered, but easy to replace, another job ticked off the list .

@@life_on_cars Thanks Paul. It will be interesting to learn about the RR through your videos. Keep them coming please.
Yeah !! Good job.!!. You caught that pads on time .Looking good !! 😀😀
Great work as always Paul. Be interesting to know how much the new pads cost.
Perfect job....Done many in my time
Such an interesting but over engineered system but saying that you don't want one of them rolling down a hill 😊
Great job Paul.

Nice...👍.
Nice Job 😉
I would have put anti siez grease on the new pad pins and clips also on the adjuster threads
Yep all done 👍😉
The parking brake needs adjusting with the wheel in position and then when not able to turn, the adjuster is backed off three flats.
Thanks yes I'll be doing that when the wheels go back on 👍
2cv has the same system just on the front brakes
Sir are you sure about the jack stands side points you chose? Because I see you had them just under the lip of that bend. That won't damage the body?
@@RoveFans jacking points 👍
@@life_on_cars thank you.
Great video Paul .
Did you tighten the hand break by feel or did Dr. Google or the manual tell you how tight to do it up?
I've done it by feel (just starting to drag on discs) however I expect further adjustments may be required after a few miles of bedding in 👍
@@life_on_cars Very cool!
You forget the copper slip .
Hello. I used Cera Tec Brake Grease by Textar (Mintex)
Well, applying grease on the pivots from the outside doesn't really reach contact surfaces.
Already greased inside 👍
