My director back in high school made a snide remark one day about me not knowing my blocking because I didn't show up to the previous rehearsal. I missed because we were putting down the family dog who had cancer. Still probably my favorite teacher from HS. Super nice when we weren't on stage lol
I wasn’t a theatre kid but the drama teacher at my school was the most sassy, racist, selfish woman ever icl. She also claimed to have gotten offers from both Oxford and Cambridge but didn’t go bc she didn’t want to move for uni, and she says she was in Wonder Woman and a bunch of other movies a shows.
The way that this is a universal experience 😭. Literally for weeks we've been hearing the "you should all be embarrassed and ashamed" and then FINALLY yesterday our director said "I.....would not be mad. If you put.. that.. on stage". We all cheered and she got pissed again lmao.
This was literally my highschool drama teacher, she nearly killed a diabetic kid and got fired for losing a forklift. The entire local drama community hated her because she taught terrible drama edicate
my theater teacher seemed really fun and bubbly when he introduced himself to our high school drama club. he was around 70 and had lots of experience and great stories to tell from his years in acting. my friends and i all had a great time with him. we were just really excited to be in a new activity after school together. that was until our first play. it didn’t take long for the teacher to blow a fuse and snap at us for speaking too quietly or too loudly or moving the wrong direction or laughing even off set. it felt like walking on eggshells. then an elementary kid, just a 2nd grader, was introduced to the play. she came in alone on her first day and again, the teacher lost his temper and yelled at her. i think it was because she was struggling to read a line, since she was obviously too young to even be reading from a script anyway, even if a child was meant to be in the cast. that’s about when all of my friends and i got too yucked out and dropped from the play. the teacher was flabbergasted and disappointed but we simply told him that we’re not just going to take being berated and chewed out every day. the club was for fun and he couldn’t understand that. it completely drained me from theater afterwards, honestly.
Okay I loved my drama teacher. He was an amazing dude, but the incredibly proud before hand to the "oh god this is gonna crash and burn" during final rehersal is so accurate 😂 (it always went fine and he was always super happy after. Just the stress of final rehersal)
My director used to give a before speech like ‘hey just letting you guys know I might be yelling and screaming a lot, just know that we’re still family and it’s all love’ Man was he scary. Multiple kids ended up in tears after rehearsal, but he was still loved by all. He just came from a military background and I guess applied it to directing😭

Every high school theatre teacher for some reason does this
"Think about your parents. Christmas will never be the same." CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD 💀

Theater teachers always be exposing your deepest traumas
At least she don't have to hear her parents fighting anymore. Being forced to stay in a toxic relationship with each other is bad for the kid
Lol how did it catch u off guard it was so heavily foreshadowed?…
@@bobfind9151 It was how casually she said it. I knew she was going to say something crazy, but not like that.
She ate this role up. 😂 I love and hate this character equally. ❤
Fr
hatred for this character only means love for the actor, as she is doing her job well for you to hate the character she plays
The enormous necklace and loose fitting animal print is so spot on 😅
