That is one of the reasons that I prefer Sanse/Sance espiritismo, over the 21 divisions, is because they do not do animal sacrifices. I believe in honoring my deceased loved ones, saints, spirit guides, and my guardian angel, while preserving animal life. But I respect and honor all religious practices.
Luis the vodou of all the island of Hispañola has a lot more tribal or ethnic input than people think. The catholic part is very much a part in its prayer and other things but it is way more african than anything els. The indian division in the dr side is more secondary to where its almost apart but still included. But yes many many ethnic groups apart from the ewe, fon, nago, ashanti. Some ae from senegambian area and also many many congolese sub tribes.

In the 21 division weather it be from Dominican or Haitian you have to be born with the gift to work with the Lwa’s I don’t know how you do it in sanse but in 21 division the Lwas choose you not the other way around. In 21 division we don’t call it initiation we call it bautismo in which the person born with the gift gets baptized to start working with the Lwa’s. 2. Sanse took a lot of from then we did from you guys, the Lwa’s were created in DR and in Haiti and like the history says a lot of Dominican and Haitian immigrants went over to Puerto Rico with the Lwa’s and taught you guys our culture. As for sanse being in DR threw out all my years I’ve never heard nor seen any of that here in DR 🤷🏽♂️
In the mesa blanca i grew up in and practice, we mount with spirits of human beings. We can get messages from Orisha or Misterios but these are messengers of the Orisha or Misterios who when alive were initiated in these various practices.
