It’s one of those things where “oh no, it’s not the right time. Things feel too hectic. I don’t want to replace Reggie”. But honestly your mum is right - it’s having another life to love, it’s never the same. Having a dog and a cat at the same time - it doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t ever replace someone. I’ve had my dogs and my next dog never replaced them. It’s just different. But having someone to love is the best feeling

    • @vee1324
      @vee1324 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Totally agree, its never the same and you'll never forget and the random tears still appear, but to love another puppy face-its what you need.

Estée, I just wanted to write and say that you are not alone, feeling like this... I've been watching your videos forever and I feel like I've grown into a different person with you and have gone through VERY similar experiences in life... I've been (and kind of still am) EXACTLY where you are right now and I understand all your emotions SO well... AND I'm sure that I'm one of many many people who share similar stories... All of this is just to say you are not alone, thank you for sharing, take it one day at a time, no one can tell you to feel better because it will happen in its own time... EVERYTHING will get better in time, don't let yourself forget that... ♥🌹

Having a dog to love and care for is one of the best things in life.I understand how you feel. I had a dog 10 years ago that I loved so much, and I lost him. I will never forget him, he is always in my heart. A week ago I adopted a dog,4 months old and her character is similar and so much fun. Taking care of her, loving her, going for walks in nature with her is the best thing. I observe how much her being in my life has changed my everyday, I am less in my head, I spend more time in nature, I give her so much love and in general i feel like having a dog is the best medicine for mental health. I feel so much gratitude for what she brings in my life and for all the love that I feel for her ❤️

Omg I'm so happy for you! Adopting a dog seems like the best thing for you now. Healing after a loss of someone so special to you will of course take a long time. That kind of love is eternal and irreplaceable, but finding a new one to love will definitely bring in all the warmth and love that makes the loss more bearable, and it will give you both a happier life. What could be better?

When you talked about Reggie I had a maaaajor cry session. I know exactly that feeling and I can tell you that one other furry baby will help you go through that. Imagine this: crying on your phone thinking about you’re dead dog after a whole year and your much little second dog comes to you cuddling and giving you kisses and not leaving your side. They help us much more than ourselves. ❤️

Getting another dog after this situation is such a healing experience.
My dog passed away two days before my birthday, I had her for 10 years and it was the best time.
When she died I was heartbroken and my parents got me another puppy a few months later (like 3 or 4) and honestly it’s hard to get used to it but giving all this love to your new fluffy friend helps you a lot and it makes you stronger.
I’m glad that you’re moving on and want to adopt a new puppy.

When you said, "At first, I was there is no way I'm getting another dog" and then realizing that you're ready for another pup, reminded me of the grief process for a lot of people. At first it feels like you're trying to replace someone (if you "move on"), but then you realize (in time) you can love both. One doesn't replace your love for another. But you approached it in such a healthy way for yourself. I guess I wanted to comment because I think you're normalizing a part of grieving for others and letting them know it's okay/normal to love again. Sending you love.

Estée. I feel you so hard right now. I lost my dog tragically almost 3 years ago now. For one, it literally feels like YESTERDAY. The pain is still so real, the emptiness is still so big, and I just miss having my best friend. Funny, I actually have a picture from a few years back of her watching Reggie on the TV. I’m so happy that you’re in a place in you’re life where you are able to give love to another dog. I will get there again, too. Soon I hope!

I am so happy to hear you are getting another dog. I lost a dog last March and truly felt so empty. I adopted another dog FINALLY last August. My new dog certainly does not replace the dogs of the past but definitely dissipates that empty feeling and I now feel a different love for this one. He gives me reason. Reason to come home after a long day, reason to care for something other than yourself, reason to hike on the weekends, etc. I am so happy for you! I am also so happy to hear you, like myself, are adopting! I don't know about London but here in America shelters are bursting at the seams with "unwanted" dogs. You go girl, you deserve it!

  • @KymeGracia

I completely relate, my beloved dog passed away in May. It has broken my heart, I shed tears often. I did get another dog in July, because dogs comfort us and I love the company of them. The new dog will never ever replace my other dog....but is a new chapter. I did make it a point to get a different breed, I felt getting the same breed would be (for me) like I was trying to replace him and that can't happen. It has helped a lot having the new dog.

The wonderful thing about getting another dog while you're still grieving is that the sadness over things you can no longer do with Reggie turns into hope for things you can share your new dog ❤️ I take my dog to all the places my childhood dog loved and I feel so happy sharing those memories with him, I can feel her spirit and how happy she would be that I am remembering her through him ❤️

Your face lit up and your whole demeanour lifted when you started talking about a new dog. Last year I lost my greyhound, and 8 months later welcomed home a new dog. Honestly, the whole process was incredibly emotional, and for the first six months it was was really challenging because I was still hurting so much. But I’m so happy now, I love my beautiful boy. Good luck finding your new friend ❤️

We lost our 14 year old pup to kidney failure earlier this year and it's been one of the most challenging and heartbreaking years of my life and I've survived a ton of messed up shit when I was young. I think about our girl every single day and when I see you talk about Reggie, I break down because I feel you 1000% and it just never gets easier. The only way I've been able to cope with her loss is by adopting a new pup. Our new pup has brought me so much happiness and while I still break down when I think of my old girl, having our new pup has helped with the healing. It's the best thing you could do to be able to have that joy in your life again! Now I cannot imagine having a life without these little angels!

Thank you so much for opening up on camera about this loss.
I have been there myself (found myself in tears for about three months after my beloved pup's passing) and that pain is so very real.
I also barely made it to the six month point where I just had to get another dog for companionship and love and laughter and joy. They bring sooo much into your life and I cannot wait for you to experience that joy again. It'll be different, but still so fun and heartfelt all the same.

I’m so happy you’re getting a new partner dog. You can never replace a previous pet but you can share your love with another dog. I’m all about the rescue/adoption as well.

I read tarot, have done for a few years (only for myself, not quite ready to read for others) every day I learn more, it really helps with my self care, it calls me out when I’m running away from something, and makes me step back sometimes to think.

We lost our family dog three years ago, and it was devastating. My parents just adopted a puppy, from a litter of a stray dog family friends took in, and it’s only been about a month, but I’ve seen such an improvement in their happiness and spirits. No dog will ever be what Reggie is to you, but they will fill another space in your life and your heart.

I put my dog down over 2 months ago and I really get you. It's not only a loss, but it's lonely living without a pet. I also have read tarot 5+ years ✌ it has changed my life so much for the better. xx

I cried with you when you talked about Reggie. I never feel alone when I have a dog with me to talk to & hang out with. I hope you can find another special dog to share your home with and I can’t wait to follow your journey as I did when you adopted Reggie! 🥰

Estée! A new doggy in your life will bring you so much happiness and fulfilment. I can’t even tell you the heartache I felt when losing my first boy but luckily we had our other doggy there to cuddle through the tears (he also got depressed and needed the love) Reggie fell on all four paws with you. Another little rescue deserves some love now 💗

My heart breaks for you Estee. Losing a dog is so traumatic, I’ve been there. Even though you know it’s happened I find myself in moments of disbelief that almost leave me short of breath. Wanting to keep your heart open to that kind of love is amazing and so brave ❤️

My Dog is a Great Dane and he’s really old and were happy about every day that we can still cuddle and love him.

awww Estée, I know exactly how you feel! My dear dog passed away 2 years ago and I still miss him every day and have a hole in my heart in the shape of him. I feel completely the same as you about having so much love in your heart to give to another animal. I'm sure you will meet the greatest little doggie soul to take care of and give a home to, just like you did with Reggie 💖

I’m so very excited for you!! 💜 I lost my pup unexpectedly in March 2018.... I couldn’t imagine getting another dog but his litter sister actually needed a new home and so I got her the following month and she helped me TREMENDOUSLY in the coping process. You can never replace the love you have but there was still so much love to give to Wrigley (my old dog) and I knew I needed to pass it on to my new girl, Millie! ❤️ I think this is exactly how you’re feeling about Reggie and I promise you, it’ll be so helpful and you’ll have many new memories; without forgetting the old ones with Reggie!
Lots of love and light to you!! ✨💕

I'm not going to say "don't cry." It's good to cry. Reggie was a best friend, not just a pet. I always hate when people say "it's just an animal," because they aren't. They're family. However long it takes, cry when you need to, but know that it will get better and you have all of us to lean on :)

Estee, I went through a similar situation in 2017 when my 2 year old Shih Tzu passed away from a sudden illness. It tore me apart and I spent months and months crying over her. About a year later, I got another dog, a Havanese this time and while she could never replace my old dog, she gave me a new sense of love and family. The new one helps you remember the old without crying and more with smiles and laughter now. I also got a small tattoo to commemorate and remember the first dog. So go for it if you want to!! It helps heal

I remember talking to Scarlett (your makeup artist with Daisy) about your love for Reggie when I worked with her personally.
I told her how although it seems at points almost unthinkable getting another little four legged friend, but honestly... once you’ve lit that love in your heart for a dog, you can’t blow it out.
I’m glad you’ve found the strength to open your heart again to finding a new fluffy pal... you will not regret it.
Sending a lot of love and happiness on your journey, xxx❤️

Yay, Estée! No dog could ever replace Reggie, but there are so many dogs looking for someone to love them and who want to love someone unconditionally that it just makes perfect sense. I think when you just want to love someone or something it's rather painful to have to hold all that love in. I can't wait to meet your new doggo!

All of my family pets passed while I was in beauty school out of town and once I moved back home I decided to adopt my first dog of my own and it was the most fulfilling feeling. I got my lab mix from a local rescue and she has made my heart so full. When my pets passed I couldn’t imagine getting another dog but after I had time to grieve and found the best match for me I’m so happy I did. 🧡

After two years of student life and not being able to have a doggo I moved purposefully and for the sole reason of adopting a dog we found on street. It's incredible having that waggy tail waiting for you when you get home and it forces you to go out and have that outside time. They're the best for mindfulness and being in the moment. I'll never be able to live without four legged friend ❤️
