Bjarne for future reference Loctite Blue and Purple are removable by torque, Red by heat and torque, and Green by Grace of God. Pick your color for fasteners accordingly,I personally wouldn't use anything but blue on a saw, also if the socket head of the bolt is in any way deformed from previous wrenching use a new bolt before applying Loctite so you won't strip out the head if you do need to ever get the bolt out. I know that's your new saw so if that spring retaining screw backs out again clean and inspect the threads on the saw body and apply the easiest to get apart Loctite to start. Gotta keep them saws running right, Happy Cutting Bud..

    Wow!
What a lucky, lucky day! Big limb chunks flying back at you and last tree goes right over sideways! The Gods / karma were definitely with you! Shows how even with all your knowledge, skill and planning it's still one of the most dangerous jobs there is!
Really enjoyed your talk on way back to heli-pad!
Wild berries and fruits always have more flavor. I think it's true of organic garden produce too.

Thanks for watching. Ya even if you do everything right things can still go sideways. I can’t wait till mid August when all the high elevation blueberries will be ripe. I can eat many handfuls in a day, hard to just walk by a bush that’s loaded with berries

It's the little things that can take you out in the blink of an eye yeah. No days a bad day when you get to take a ride on the wild side with a scenic route home thats as priceless as yours... @ 1:11:17 could that small cabin you zoomed in on have been a hunters or recluses get away, looked like it was quite a well built cabin, and definitely plonked in a prime location.
At the end of the day when it's time to reflect what better spot could you be to reflect in...Cheers for a mighty fine reel Fella.

That piece could have done damage! One can actually hear it coming in the audio (although it is off camera) and impacting nearby. It was heavy enough to cause bad fractures and/or bad cuts if it had come at you with the jagged edge first. Even small branches or chunks that are propelled backwards by the branches of other trees acting like giant springs as the cut tree falls can gain incredible impact force in the direction of the logger. I bear a good reminder from an actually very small larch branch that broke off and came at me as the tree was falling and cut a deep groove which required a good amount of stitches. I made a walking stick out of it. I know it was the stick that hit me on account of its blood-stained jagged edge. As we used to say in the army: "there are no atheists in foxholes." There should be none in logging, either. Each healthy day is a gift from God.

Put some blue Loctite on that chain catcher screw if it keeps coming loose, been using on all the little screws for 15 years even if they don't need it. It makes them stick a little better so they don't vibrate loose, even the screws that go into plastic.

With so much rotten wood at the center, I am surprised that the mill can make money out of some of these large cedars.

      2x 4 by 8’ = $32.95 per pc. Do up the math on a cedar tree . 😊

    Hello Bjarne,
Looks like you’re running a lower ratio fuel-to-oil mix today (blue smoke). Is something different?
Thanks again for your great experiences.

Ya I dunno who owns it or how long it’s been there. Apparently when the old timers started logging that valley 100years ago there was a train track that ran over 50 mile up the valley and it ran right by that cabin. So that cabin could’ve been there a long time

What mix and ratio do they give you guys.?
Rings don’t burn, if anything happens to the piston you’ll know immediately.
The aluminum chain catch is supposed to be removed when the roller chain catch is installed. 3 chain catches is a bit of overkill.

    • @BjarneButler
      @BjarneButler  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

Ya I shoulda removed it. We usually use husky or Stihl mix oil 50:1 ratio
