  • The TCEC Cup 9 is a knockout format played in TCEC, including all qualifying participants. It will be a knockout championship with the 32 participants divided into brackets. For an engine to win the TCEC Cup gold medal it must win a total of five matches. The two losing semifinalists will play a match for 3rd and 4th place (`small final’). No bookless games will be played in the TCEC Cup.
    c. All games take place in pairs in which both engines each play each side of every book exit. Engines will play both sides of each position selected. Openings chosen will roughly approximate human games in terms of their frequency. A new opening should thus occur every other game, then the reverse game is played, so two games in a row from the same starting book position. Because each engine will thus play both sides of every opening, fairness is guaranteed.

Incredible game. I was able to see the R f6, but did not see the wonderful continuation.. Thank you for explaining it accurately. In addition, the end game was amazing. Chess is the best.

What a great game. i thought at first it would be a breakthrough on the h file. I saw rf6 and then thought ok the pawn will push through, a fightback, then a possible mating net showed up and in the end an endgame advantage was created. a wonderful series of advantage changes by the dragon. Fine analysis, thanks Josiåp and keep up the good work.

Great game by Dragon ... Converting from a "certain" draw! Thanks, J.

14:40 -- the quiz question -- I was able to see the move, but definitely couldn't work out the consequences!

    Great video!!
Jozarov what is this engine koivisito? It played leela in the quarter finals and they had 27 draws before leela finally won a game ??? I'd love your take in this engine and maybe cover a game or 2, soecially the decisive game as 27 draws in a row v leela for a weaker engine is a big accomplishment for the coders!

The follow up after Rook:f6 with the d5!!! pawn move is so sick! But it has to be said that back's defence was very strong. At least to me, stupid human, looked so. The level of strength of these engines is just so depressing to me.

I didn't know that "IGEL" means hedgehog. A chess EDGEHOG would be a piece that can move only on the edge of the board (a1-h1-h8-a8-a1) :-)
